Glad to hear you had a great time. My wife and I are sailing 3/29. This will be our second cruise & fir NCL. we're both excited to sail.

Sailing 3/29 on the Gem. I called to inquire about the $100 obc. They told me I'd have to rebook and that the mini suite I was already booked into had increased in price $200/pp. No luck for me. Even though the obc would've been nice, it'll still be a good time.

Uber made their business on being cash-less. Based on that and what uber says on their website; I assume that the drivers are working at rates where they don't expect tips. That being said, if a driver picked me up at point a and dropped me off at point b, I wouldn't feel obligated to tip. If they take me to/from the airport and help with bags I would. I did tip my driver because of that on my last tip and he accepted it but said it wasn't necessary.

I do uber part time. I can't say that I expect a tip but it is always appreciated. I don't treat people well with the expectation of a tip, but rather because it's the right thing to do.
As far as the rates drivers work for, it isn't as great as one may think. It's not terrible, but not a cash cow either. A 10 minute, 3 mile trip in Philadelphia market gets a driver about $3, Before expenses and taxes. For me the attraction to driving uber is the flexibility, not necessarily the money.

From what I understand, the tip is included in the fare. However, I always give an additional tip if they do a good job. I once tipped a Uber driver about 50% when he drove us to the terminal in Amsterdam.
Tips are not included in the fare for uber, with the exception of "ubertaxi" which is only available in select cities.

While tipping is never required with uber or lyft, being a driver myself tips are always appreciated, especially when a driver is helpful & friendly.

My bride and I are sailing the gem on 3/29 to San Juan, St. Thomas, Saint Maarten & Tortola. My wife really wants to swim with the dolphins. Since this is an expensive venture, I'm looking for recommendations on any of the ports of call. I'd really like to make this happen for her. Can either be excursions booked through NCL or not.

Thanks again, we're taking the train from Philadelphia to Manhattan.
Sure, but we don't fly to ports, so not sure if you are flying. No problem on the ship.Safe sailing

Thanks! Can I bring a lighter and cutter?
Definitely bring your own. There is no problem. 20 NCL cruises and DH brought his own on every time. Pricey onboard. EnjoySafe sailing

Regarding the cigar lounge on the Gem, are you able to bring you own cigars to smoke within the lounge? If not, how is the quality of the cigars sold on board? Are the pricey?

I brought my own cigars so I don't k of what the offerings are. Occasionally someone would stop by to empty the ashtrays, you can have them bring you a drink from the bar. The bar was just a few feet from the lounge.
