  1. Open discussion is a great thing. Many cruisers might have already made up how they will tip and that's great. Many new cruisers may not even post here on cruisecritic but come here to gain information and learn different point of views. It is kind of sad when you are tired of hearing about a topic and you have to tell people to shut up and stop talking about it. Maybe you should just move on to the next topic and let those who wish to discuss tipping, continue to share their own point of views.
  2. We usually remove the auto tips and tip in cash. We prefer to tip in cash directly.
  3. People do wear some of the craziest outfits to the dining room these days. Some people make you smile when you see the way they are dressed. When I was working on Royals Nordic Prince back in the day, we would have to go find jackets and ties for some customers just so they would be allowed to enter in the dining room. The times they have changed. Now everything goes regarding dress and most people seem to enjoy it this way. Wear what makes you feel good!
  4. We enjoy Celebrity over Royal most of the time but in this case we would go for the extra day of cruising with Royal and head to Aruba!
  5. Not everyone might care about the Super Bowl but it is still the biggest sporting event in the United States and a whole lot of people do enjoy the event.
  6. You can remove tips for any reason, in fact Royal will not even ask why you are removing the tips!
  7. Many people, including myself, always remove the auto gratuities. We tip in cash at the end but do not allow Royal to decide who gets our tips. Royal is fine with this. Tip the way you are comfortable and let everyone else tip the way they want.
  8. Good for you! Everyone should tip the way that is best for them!
  9. Why because you can't handle the discussion. Put your big boy pants on!
  10. It is a choice, if they don't wish to leave a tip, or adjust the tip, it is up to them.
  11. If you believe that to be true, keep tipping that way! It is your money, spend it any way you like. We will continue to give cash and remove auto gratuities. Royal is just fine with either way of tipping.
  12. Gratuities make up most of the compensation for crew in the housekeeping, beverage and food departments. Royal now even requests we give gratuity to crew members we don't even see. Royal profits even more when they get passengers to pay more of the crew's salary.
  13. Gratuities contributes a substantial profit margin for Royal, it will not go away anytime soon.
