  1. So... to all...

I am NOT blaming anyone, if it came over that way,,, MY BAD.

I emailed, got two replies the time/date/location with an attachment and a confirmation.

I did arrive early, based on the time given,,, I should have arrived more that 15 minutes early.

I will, if I arrange another, (On the cruises I have been on I have arranged several) confirm several times.

  2. when I have co ordinated meet and greets there has always been a confirmation letter awaiting me in our stateroom stating the time and venue

If you arranged the meet and greet you should have got this and I would take this as a red flag for future set ups

NCL don't add the meet and greet to the freestyle daily as it is classed as a private party unlike friends of Dorothy etc which are open to all cruisers on board

I got an email from the NCL Corp person with the confirmation, nothing on the ship.

Yes, the CC M&G is a Private Party, others are not listed. This is a gathering with ship staff, so I can see a reason to list it.

If I do arrange in March,,,, a double check will happen.

  3. On a BA to Bermuda I arranged the M&G, I emailed and got a reply with day, 1st sea day and a time and meeting place.

I have been on the BA and to M&G several times SO I should have questioned the time and place; 11:30 in the Atlantic/Pacific room on the 6th desk. I was traveling a great deal before the trip and did not.

The day of the M&G I arrived at 11:10-11:15 and was told it was in La Cucina, I walked up, the Captain and Sr Staff had already talked to those that were there, spent a few minutes and left. I have no issue with the Capt/Sr Staff, they were given a time and were there, the info I was give was wrong.

I did bring my this the to Hotel Director, with 2 other issues, he address the current issues quickly and was going to look into the M&G mix up. The 2 other issues were items that were effecting the quality of the cruise, THANK YOU for addressing these in a timely manner.

On my return I emailed the address I had arrange the M&G with, 2 weeks and no reply.

In the future I will send a confirming email regarding the M&G location, if I ever arrange it. Also, I will make it a point to confirm with the hotel director, he/she is always around.

    Note to NCL:

** I was embarrassed by the mix up, I made the arrangements

** I was not heard back from the email address that is used to arrange the M&G asking on a follow up on what happen.

** In the daily it would be nice to add a line with the M&G info, a note is lined for the "Friends of Bill W" and GLB meeting, adding a line for the M&G should not be hard. During the M&G other cruiser said other cruise lines add it to the daily.

A great cruise, as I expected, just disappointed with the M&G.

  4. We are sailing to Bermuda on the Breakaway next Sunday.. Right now, I have no idea what to expect! But, if we are rerouted someplace else, I don't really care, I've already cruised to Bermuda 5 or 6 times..and been to the Bahamas another 5 times. I am just happy to be cruising..period!

I have not seen u on our roll call...

  5. Both my wife and I are disappointed and upset. We both know that NCL doesn't control the weather but that doesn't change the fact that fact that months of planning and thousands of dollars have now been spent on what may turn out to be an incredibly disappointing trip. Are we going to try and make the best of it? Absolutely, but at this point we don't know anything about what the future holds for our trip. We haven't gone down to Guest Services, we haven't yelled and screamed at anyone. Currently we're sitting in our cabin licking our wounds.

prime82 - I feel for you,, we had had a trip or two re-routed due to weather, I feel you disapointment.

To those that are saying, "this is what you get when you book during hurricane season" please take a moment to realize what a jerk you sound like. The cruise lines obviously offer itineraries during times of the year that they feel they can safely sail. I'm sure most of realize that nothing is certain, weather is unpredictable but to essentially say, "you're getting what you deserve" is pretty tactless. None of us asked for this to happen, we picked a sailing date that was offered to us, we didn't force NCL to offer October Bermuda dates.

My wife and I booked this trip ten months ago. Since then she's been laid off from her job, gone on unemployment and found a new job. Somehow we've still managed to make this trip happen despite her not having any vacation days at her new job, this entire week off for her is unpaid. We scrapped every penny we had and fought hard for months for this one week of fun in Bermuda and a few expensive days in NYC.

prime82 - I dont agree with those that say you get what you get by booking in Oct. As you look, I cruise each Sept/Oct from NYC,,, I know the risk. You are also true what you did not force NCL to offer Bermuda in October, but you choice that dates.

  6. In the past I have had issues getting to the port, road race or other events. On my next trip we dive into the 2nd day of the Avon walk.

I called Avon and asked if they could assist with what road my be effects, the map on the web site is port, the streets are not labeled well,,, not help. They would not give any route details.

Going to email NCL, NYPD Publice Relations, and the pier.

  7. I will be in an interior stateroom on Deck 14, beneath the Pool/Slide on Deck 15! May I expect my stateroom to be 'noisy' from the 'activities' on Deck 15? Also, will my stateroom be any warmer being only one deck from the exterior above me?

I have been on 14 3 of the last 4 times with no issue.

  8. My best upgrade was last year on Breakaway, I paid for balcony guarantee and when my room was assigned a day before sailing I found out they gave me a family mini suite with balcony and I was sailing solo. So that was a great surprise. However my last guarantee room was nightmare. I had done about 10-12 guarantee rooms and every one of them was fine except the last one. So I will continue with guarantee cabins.

The last two GTY on the BA, Mid ship balcony,,, turned into Spa Balconies.

  9. I will be a new cruiser with NCL on my upcoming Bermuda Cruise, New York to Bermuda, October 16 - 23, 2016, booked in Category 1E Interior Cabin, on ?Deck 5! I have never been on such a large ship before, having cruised mostly with HAL. I would appreciate any advice/comments from seasoned NCL cruisers, who have cruised on the 'Breakaway' & having been accommodated in Category 1E Interior. Thank you very much. :)

We have been on the BA a number of times, we did that cabin on 14 before. Bring an alarm clock, being inside the no window is a problem getting up.

Bring a spare hotel type key, the lights and power to the room are controlled by a key, we leave stuff charging when we leave.

    Thinking and will add more.

We r on the same trip, join the roll call.

  10. Hi James,

When you are dropped off at Pier 88 you will be on the same level as the check in part of the terminal. Hand over your luggage to the porters and go straight through the doors to begin check in.

The day you disembark from the ship is when you will be using the escalator to go down to the bottom level of the Manhattan Cruise Terminal and customs. ( I highly recommend carrying your own luggage off if you can do so ).

Our first trip on Breakaway we were able to use the elevators instead. On our most recent trip, the elevators were not available so everyone had to use the escalator. It kinda feels like getting "kicked to the curb" on the last day as opposed to the warm welcome and smiles upstairs a week earlier. But it is pretty painless if all customs desks are open. Go out to the street and police will be directing passengers across the street.

Here is a link to CC member sebas030's thread about getting to and parking at the MCT. It has photos of signage for both the Passenger Drop Off and Parking areas. You will make a right and pass all the Piers until you get to 88. You cannot MISS Breakaway :D

    Hope this helps!

    Have a great cruise!

James, the link to the board page is "Great"

As you can see we had been on the breakaway a number of times each time we drive. All of the comments James gave you are great and the posting on the board also gives great information. Not sure if you are going to Bermuda or Florida and your October visit we are doing Bemuda in October
