  1. So next year I will celebrating a milestone birthday so I am looking into celebrating it with my family on a cruise. The problem is my birthday is during the summer months which is the most expensive time to cruise. We prefer to leave from Port canaveral and I was looking at 3 or 4 nt on the new utopia of the seas but the prices for 2 people will be almost 2000.00 for a interior room. Then there is the adventure of the seas for a 6 nt for about 1800.00. I am a little undecided because I would love to cruise on the new utopia but I kinda feel like the prices are outrageous for just a 3/4 nt that's only going to the the Bahamas, but the adventure of the seas is older and alot smaller and i dont know if I will like cruising on a smaller ship. Weve always cruised on freedom and oasis class sized ships but the adventure is going to Dominican republic and labadee. Has anyone sailed on adventure? Was it nice? I'm just a little torn at what to do. Any thoughts?
  2. I know this board is filled with individuals who have cruised to various places, so I'm just seeking advice. In 2025 my spouse and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and we would like to celebrate it on a cruise. We have also cruised alot but mainly the eastern caribbean, but we have never seen the western caribbean, however I also would like to sail Alaska. The issue I have with alaska is we would have to fly to seattle because we live on the east coast and we are looking at a 5 hour flight and neither one of us are fans of flying long distances and we know western caribbean will be warm and alaska may be cool and rainy however , everyone is telling me an alaska cruise is worth it. So I am a little torn about should we book a 7 nt western caribbean or should I just book the Alaska cruise. Just curious about what my fellow cruisers think, what are the pros and cons between these two cruises. What would you suggest if you were me?
  3. If you buy alcohol on the ship (bourbon), will airlines let you pack it in your carryon or checked baggage? We always buy a bottle of alcohol on the ship and because we normally drive its not a problem but our next cruise we are flying. We don't want to waste money on buying alcohol and then the airline prohibits it.
  4. That was supposed to be 37 hours, my fault.....lol
  5. So it has been decided our next cruise will be an Alaskan cruise on either ovation or quantum leaving out of seattle in July of 2024. We live 17 hours from Seattle so driving is out of the question, we never fly long distances so I have a ton of questions about flights, hotels and the cruise. If anyone can help me with the following questions or direct me to a website to help answer my questions. 1. When flying , I know the tsa limits liquids to 3.4 oz for carry on but what about checked luggage? When we cruise I normally carry otc meds can you do that with checked luggage? 2. What are the best / safest hotels to stay near Port Seattle? 3. Are there shuttle companies to take us from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the ship port. 4. We live on the east coast so in July is it normally scorching hot, so how is the weather in alaska during July and how should we dress? Is the ship warm? Can we swim or will it be too cold? 5. Which Alaskan itinerary is best? Royal has a Alaskan experience itinerary and a alaska glacier itinerary which one is better? 6. Do they have formal nights on alaska cruises? 7. Compares to caribbean cruises are Alaskan cruises worth the cost? I have soooo many questions but we will start with these. Please help me .
  6. So I am actually on a cruise right now, and we are thinking about going down to the next cruise kiosk and booking an Alaskan cruise while we are here so we can get on board credits but we not sure if we want to book the ovation or the quantum. Is there anyone that can tell me which ship is better for families with teens and exactly how cold is an Alaskan cruise if we book for July next year?
  7. On disembarkation day, most people are off the ship by 9am, and then as early as 10:30 am the new guests are embarking.... has anyone wondered how are these ships adequately cleaned and sterilized in such a short turn around time? I've always wondered this especially when it comes to cleaning the staterooms. Now that we have to deal with the covid Era, it just seems like 2-3 hours between guests is not enough time to properly sterilize a cruise ship. We will be cruising in a few days and I know this is crazy to think about, but I was just wondering.
  8. What are the dress code theme nights for dining room each night
  9. Cococay day2,then st Thomas and st maartin
  10. So there are no outlets in the bathrooms?
  11. I was needing a compass for wonder of the seas eastern itinerary
  12. We are sailing on WOS in a few weeks, I just have 2 quick questions. My son uses hair clippers to cut his hair, Do RC allow you to bring electric hair clippers? Next question does anyone know where I can find the most current eastern caribbean cruise compass I looked on royal caribbean blog but the cruise compass I found for Eastern has a slightly different itinerary.
  13. Just curious, why did they cancel it? It would seem if it was thier fault they should not penalize you for it.
  14. No we are not doing any excursions, if we buy souvenirs in port they will simple like shirts beachbags little stuff like that.
  15. We are trying to decide a budget for our 7 night cruise next month. It will be my spouse and I and our 2 teenage kids. We really don't want to spend too much, we want to budget a amount. We already prepaid for our gratuity, drink packages, wifi packages and we dont plan on eating at any of the specialty restaurants so we dont have to worry about that. For those seasoned cruisers what is a ideal daily budget amount for a family of 4 for 7 nights?
  16. One of the ports we are visiting is st marten, I would like to go to maho Beach which is famous for the airplanes landing over the Beach. However my spouse is skeptical about going too far from the port area because how sometimes tourists are targeted In foreign islands and my spouse doesn't want to do an independent excursion because RC is not responsible if you are late getting back to the ship. I was wondering has anyone did a RC excursion to maho Beach and what was your experience. Also is it true if you are late getting back to the ship on RC excursion they will either wait or make sure you get back on the ship without penalty.
  17. We sail on WOS in a few months and I seen a you tube video for wonder of the seas that showed there was a balloon drop in the promenade area on embarkation day. I know symphony did a balloon drop but can anyone who has sailed wonder can confirm if they do a balloon drop?
  18. Has anyone ordered the bottled water package on wonder of the seas? If so was it bottles or cans?
  19. I have two questions and I'm sure someone has already posted these questions but here they are: 1. does anyone know if wonder of the seas have started the 1x a day housekeeping for staterooms and do they do it in the morning or evening? 2. With the new MDR menu can you substitute sides? For example could I ask for mashed potatoes instead of the listed side item or is it what you see is what you get? Just curious because we are set to sail on WOS in a few months .
  20. I think based on the fact that icon is targeting young families I think the icon will be swamped with kids when it comes out, I have children as well but I don't think I would enjoy a cruise that had thousands of kids running around, that's the reason we've never sailed Disney. It will be a several years before I even consider booking Icon because of that reason. .Also I don't understand why some people would spend 75,000 for a stateroom for a week, not to offend anyone but that seems wasteful, and even if I had 75,000 just sitting around to throw away I could find better ways to use the money. Just my opinion.
  21. We have a cruise booked on wonder in a few months and I've been periodically checking the prices to see if they've dropped so I can request a repricing but the prices are outrageous right now when we originally booked our cruise it was 5900.00 for 4 now the price for the cruise date we have booked is 2800.00 per person for a central park balcony that is almost 12,000$ for a family of 4. I dont think I will switch cruise lines but I think we will take a break from cruising for a while after this one.
  22. We just recently did a casino royale complimentary cruise, when we booked they told us we would not get any points for our sailing because it is free, but my question is we paid to upgrade our stateroom so the cruise technically was no longer free , so my question is do we not get any points at all since we paid for a upgrade? Just curious.
