No problem if you get there early. Don't know how it will be with 2 large ships there now if you arrive later in the day

Thank you for all the help!  My first plan was to park at the port, so I will stick with it. Parking is my #1 worry when taking a cruise.

Also keep in mind that Port Canaveral charges for an extra night. They charge 8 nights on a 7 night cruise.

Thank you!  I know I will pay more for the convenience. But I have a long drive when I get off the ship after a two week vacation.  So I am sure I will be ready to get home.

*Rates are subject to change without notice. Contact the Canaveral Port Authority at 321-783-7831 for the latest information.

I saw this phone number. You have to call Mon. - Fri. and I was doing my budget now.  I was hoping to get an answer sooner. You guys are the experts.

  4. I've done several cruise excursions and many dive excursions both on vacation and living in the islands.  I've never had anything taken. I usually just leave everything in my beach bag.  Lately, I have been more cautious-not sure why.  But I bought a waterproof phone case on my last cruise.  I put my id, Sea Pass, credit card, and my cash in it. I left my phone in my beach bag. I thought the odds were much greater at having the phone messed up due to the waterproof bag being compromised as opposed to it being taken from my beach bag. Hard to know what to do, life is a gamble.

     a wonderful 'classic' cruise experience.

    ^^^^ Yes!!  Sounds great!

We are very excited to go on our very first Oasis cruise in July for my daughter's graduation trip. But I realized just a few weeks ago that my idea of "cruising" had changed.  My first cruise was quite a few years ago on the NCL Windward. It was everything I had hoped it would be. It was, as you say, a classic cruise.  NCL was so different back then.  In researching the cruise, I remember looking at Carnival and all that neon. I was thinking that if I wanted a Vegas experience, I would go to Vegas. After that first cruise, bigger balcony ships became the norm. Then more ships with slides and so forth followed.  Somewhere along the way, I got caught up in all the big ship excitement.  I can hardly wait for our big family trip on Harmony. But I think a nice relaxing cruise would be great.  It is what hooked me in the first place.

It is the smallest in the fleet.  Having said that it doesn't feel like it when you are on board.

It doesn't have a skating rink, or zip lines, or bumper cars, or a large gym, or multiple pools, or ...

With the right expectations you will have a wonderful cruise on her.

Here is a review from July 2018

Your review was very informative, thank you! I was curious about Empress and opened the thread.  I am so glad I found your review. I was able to learn about Empress and Cuba.

Just did this same itinerary last week, the second formal night was on day 5. Also the second formal night was not the Lobster night. Lobster night was day 7.

Not having lobster on the second formal night is like petting the cat the wrong way. Why would they think this change was a good idea?  Very strange. . .

I don't know how accurate (or inaccurate) the app is.  But the app lists lobster and baked Alaska on Day 5.

    We'll see what happens.

    Thanks everyone!

I would prefer deck 8 over deck 14.

too much chance of noise from above on 14.  Deck 8 is very convenient to CP.

Oh no! We are booked on deck 12.  Are you talking about noise from chairs being rearranged in the morning, pool/people noise during the day, or both?

I remember when Sovereign(Majesty) was largest Cruise ship at sea. Was on her few months after she started sailing, looking down on tiny Princess and Carnival Love Boat size that held what just 2 of Oasis Class Lifeboats hold.

    Seriously!  Wow!

Love Boat was my favorite show!  Just for kicks, I watched an episode on YouTube before our last cruise to help me pass the time.  When the opening sequence showed the Pacific Princess, it seemed so small.

I would suspect that it is just a fault RCI's famous glitchy App.

I would not trust any times or information on the app before get you get on the ship.  Times will be missing, reservations do not show up, and sometimes duplicated.  We were on for two weeks, had reserved all show way in advance and only 1 showed up on the App before departure, and we only saw our reservations on the day of or day before the event.   This is one program and I learned to NOT trust at all

We were just off the Harmony (a week ago) and it was playing on both weeks, and there were no mentions of Grease being changed or adjusted.   You would have never known that they lost one of the performers just a few short weeks before.

If you want to be sure you get your reservations, please don't use their glitchy app, and use your on-line account (via a computer and not your phone or ipad).

Thank you for all your advice!  I was trying to get an idea of when the shows might be scheduled. I am hoping I scheduled our MTD reservations well. Time will tell.  I tend to over plan. I makes the vacation fun last longer for me.
