  1. We were on the Dawn last August from Copenhagen to Southampton doing Oslo and the Norwegian fjords.  Spectacular voyage, Dawn is awesome, service impeccable and even the weather was beautiful.  Have not done the Baltic cities that is your itinerary, but I don't see how you can go wrong being on the Dawn.

Be sure to arrive in Copenhagen several days early as it is a wonderful city to explore.  Enjoy!

  2. I agree with Port Power.  We were on Dawn fjord cruise Aug 12 - 27.  Excursions were fantastic, guides excellent (and we were blessed with great weather).  Some of the best planned and executed excursions we have taken, and did I mention that the guides were fantastic.  Don't lower your expectations based on a few unhappy experiences.

  3. Our Norway cruise on Dawn in August we used SilverSea Air with upgrade to Business Class.  Traveled to embarkation city, Copenhagen, 2 days before sailing.  Used the SilverSea pre-cruise hotel for 2 nights.  Paid $0 for any sort of deviation.  I think the key is using their hotel.

  4. Just returned yesterday from 2 weeks on the Dawn in Norway.  I would strongly recommend door to door service, unless you have air miles to burn (and even then you can still book d to d without the air).  First time we booked door to door and it worked great.  Significant airfare savings on the Business Class upgrade.  Kudos to Silversea Air.  Flights were great choices, I could not have chosen better myself.  Even got to waitlist on a 2 hour earlier flight from ORD home and got the seats and first class to boot.   (I will give all the credit to United for the last bit).  Hotel was awesome and all transfers handled with class.  Voyage was flawless,  Silver Dawn spectacular, food amazing, SALT bar our evening hangout.  Weather perfect for 10 of the 12 days and even the other 2 were just a bit misty.  Life is good, glad to be home.

  5. Looked into Luggage Forward.  Pricing is astronomical.  Home to Copenhagen 3 standard suitcases, $400 each for one way.   $2400 round trip, thanks but no thanks.  We will manage.

  6. Guess we should consider ourselves blessed.  Fifth cruise with Silversea later this summer.  First time using Silver Air, as I have always had miles to fly to Europe in business class for free.  They selected great flights, single connection each way.  UA/SAS going, all UA on return.  Tried to price the same flights so I could control air myself.  Not happening.  Through Silversea total $5896 ($900 air credit plus $1998 business upgrade each).  Purchase tickets myself over $8000 EACH.  Wow has airfare increased.

  7. If you go to My Silversea account under the booking, go to activities tab.  You should see the daily calendar.  There is a bowtie shown at the top of each day that has formal night.  In our case day 4 and 7 on Norway cruise.

Sorry Les, did not see your response before pressing send button.

  8. I don't post often but thought I would chime in with our recent experience.  I traveled my entire business life and upon retiring several years ago had many frequent flyer miles that had me making my own air arrangements for our cruises, primarily to Europe and always business class.  We have a Norway cruise booked for next summer. I now have insufficient miles for 2 business class flights so decided to use Silversea Air department for flights with business class upgrade.  Our experience has been nothing but GREAT.  At 275 days we were notified of our flights which include only 1 stop from home airport (STL) to Copenhagen and from London on return.  on the return the original booking only had 1:25 which we thought was tight.  I noted a similar flight 2 hours earlier and requested that flight to allow more connecting time.  Within 2 days I had an email confirming the requested flight.  Easy peasy!  Sorry others are having difficulties but that is nothing like our experience.  Hope this helps others understand there are good outcomes with Silversea Air too.

We were on the Wind earlier this month from Vancouver to San Diego.  Sewage smell present in cabins and corridors much of the time.  It was awful.  Multiple complaints from passengers obviously did not solve the problem.  We commented to butler, reception and in final review.  Crickets.

    Otherwise a great cruise.

  11. Just off the Wind.  Couldn't disagree more regarding hotels.  Sorry OP had bad experience.  We stayed pre-cruise at Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver and post-cruise at Intercontinental Hotel in San Diego.  Both hotels were spectacular and arrangements perfect.

  12. My wife and I are planning Viking voyage Cities of Antiquity and the Holy Land.  The cruise goes from Rome to Athens with 3 days in Jerusalem the last week of November and the first week of December 2022.  Somewhat unsure of weather during this period of time.  See temps in the mid-50's F, which ultimately might be good for touring, but a bit brisk for our sea days and balcony.  We've been in the Mediterranean before but not during this time of year.  Anyone who has taken this cruise or been in region during this time of year please advise what to expect.  Thanks in advance.

  13. That's correct and well documented in the insurance Terms and Conditions. Unfortunately I had to cancel similarly for personal reasons and had purchased the coverage from Viking. I knew that was a sunk cost when I purchased but believed the only way I would cancel would be for a covered event. $1600 poof. Live and learn, now I purchase coverage only at the time of final payment.
