  1. @Ozark_Kid, Happy Birthday! I’m glad the garden is being made accessible for your wheelchair, you seem to enjoy it a lot!
  2. Poor dear kitty. He has no idea that Thor, my son’s German Shepherd, is going to be spending 2 months with us while Jim is in the field. Thor loves cats. It’s one sided.
  3. We had an aft balcony on Rhapsody on a transatlantic. Probably they have all been booked, but I highly recommend getting one if you can! I really liked the ship, even though it’s a little dated.
  4. @firefly333 I would go with Fleur de Sel or Ice Cube. As many others have said, refacing the cabinets makes sense. Good luck on your surgery! Remember not to lift!
  5. @grapau27 and Sarah, my condolences. Obviously, I haven’t met you or Pauline, but I doubt that the reasons for the estrangement were your fault.
  6. Since we are both ex military and my husband now works for the RCMP, I think for the moment Egypt is not somewhere we want to go. It’s a pity, because a Nile cruise was looking appealing, but there is a big world out there, and that would be too much stress. Thank you for the information! These boards, especially the Canadian one, are useful.
  7. Very tempting. We are booked on Enchantment out of Tampa for the ABC islands in April of 2025- but my son has let us know that he’s probably being deployed from Christmas of 2024 to the summer. We are the alternate parents for his German Shepherd. Thor is a very nice dog, but we will probably move the cruise, because getting an alternate sitter for 2 weeks for a 100 lb German Shepherd is likely not going to happen. Oh well. It will give me time to work on his instinct to chase squirrels and jackrabbits. He is pretty good about that, but not perfect! By the way, that cruise is now insanely expensive. If it wasn’t for the destination, I wouldn’t have.
  8. @dani negreanu I’m so sorry about Alex’s stroke. Mine was 15 years ago. It’s a tough thing to go through, but he obviously has good friends, which will help!
  9. Congratulations on your weight loss- many of us know how difficult that can be!
  10. My husband and I both enjoy them, but for different reasons. My husband enjoys not having a schedule- sleeping in, reading, going to movies in the afternoon etc. On the other hand, I like making myself a somewhat artificial schedule- exercise, trivia, lectures and shows.
  11. Here is my granddaughter’s quilt- actually it’s just the top, there’s still some work to do. I thought I would do a crazy quilt, but it turns out that is too much chaos for me, so I had to border it! I note that Gus tried to get in the photo. My dining room/ quilt room has French doors, so he’s not usually in there!
  12. This is my “barn” cat. He reinvented himself at about 8 weeks, and is now a wonderful house cat. He was underweight, had worms and an eye infection. After some vet care, he responded nicely! It wasn’t my barn; it belonged to an aunt of my daughter’s former boyfriend. @Keksie is doing a wonderful thing.
  13. If you have time, please do post photos here, along with your assessment of the cruise! I think it would be interesting.
  14. She looks like she can’t believe her luck. Will you adopt her? I’m sure you will at least foster her until she gets her forever home.
  15. I had a thyroidectomy on Friday. Sutures come out today, and everything is fine- except for a headache that won’t go away. Caffeine, pseudoephedrine and ibuprofen are managing it, but it’s annoying. I don’t normally have headaches, so I am thinking about how much I have to be grateful for. If you typically don’t notice any pain, you don’t really think about it, until you do! We are having an unprecedented warm spell- today it’s going to be 6 degrees C. And tonight we are going to the National Ballet of Ukraine, which should be lovely! Meanwhile, I am making a quilt for my not yet born granddaughter! I’m doing a crazy quilt, with scraps from the baby’s brother’s quilt, her mother’s quilt, and her uncles’. I have never done a crazy quilt before, but it’s coming together nicely. It’s going to be colourful!
