Jim recently published a beautiful and detailed review of Celebrity Silhouette, so I don't feel the need to add more information about the ship, unless you have any questions. My intent is only to post pictures about our ports of call.

This said, our embarkation process in Southampton was the smoothest I ever experienced. Furthermore, staff on the ship and ashore was just phenomal!

We are really having a good time on Silhouette.

Below, some pictures fon St.Peter Port, Guersey Island!

    Hello

here is a short video of the ship docked in Liverpool, hope you enjoyed

your visit, the weather was quite nice. Just love the E class ships and have

    sailed them all. 👍

  2. Hello

glad you are enjoying your cruise, we usually sail with celebrity because of their smoking policy.

we are looking at a cruise on the Regal Princess but have seen conflicting

    info about the smoking policy.

can you please let me know if smoking is allowed in the casino. Do not wish to start a smoking debate, but my wife suffers from severe asthma.

many thanks and continue tobenjoy your cruise, really enjoying your trip report.

Recent threads on the Silversea forum are full of longtime Silversea fans who are aghast at recent Silversea foul-ups.  Many are shore-side, but there was a recent Antarctica cruise that never should have sailed and was not handled well before, during or after.  [And yes, the dress code is a major obstacle for me.]

Silversea were bought by RCCL I think just before they sold Azamara.

Maybe that has some input to the shore side problems.

  4. Hi

that has never happened to us but hey ho lots of times it depends

on who you speak to. We have booked another cruise almost

every time we have sailed and then transferred it to our UK

    travel agent.

For example on our last cruise we booked for £59 deposit pp and received

$250 OBC we then got additional credit from our TA.

WE are off to Cancun at the end of Feb, no testing no masks as long as you are

    double jabbed. 👍👍

  5. Hi

we should have sailed with you but decided to cancel due to all the Covid testing and timescales. One thing I noticed is that you booked through a TA.

If you decide to book another cruise look at doing it on board while you

are cruising. They usually have extra perks such as low deposit additional OBC

and you can transfer it to you TA. Have a great trip

  6. Hello we have stayed at the Savoy.

“While the hotel should be nice, the location would not be one that I'd choose if you want to really enjoy Rome.  It's too out of the way forwalking to the main sites of the Centro Storico (unless you REALLY likewalking....) l”

We found it to be a nice hotel if a little dated but, that was back in 2018 when we stayed 4 nights pre cruise. One of the things we did think was a good thing was to  buy a 3 day hop on hop off tour bus ticket.

They are very frequent and we just got on and got off to where  we wanted to see and then get back on to go back to the hotel  or another area or just walked till we were ready to go back to the hotel if needed. We also used them to help plan where we would go next. We walked quite easily to the Trevi Fountain from the Savoy and my wife was very happy browsing the shops on the way.

I would say that the location for us anyway was OK, the room had a nice view and we had a nice meal in their restaurant.
The service was very good and there is a computer to print boarding passes and check and print any documents from your email account.
We are visiting Rome again in September and I booked the Westin Excelsior ages ago using the Marriott app and reserved a room using my CC which can be cancelled up to 48 hours before arrival.  Am I glad I did, I booked our flights yesterday and looked at hotels again. Wow the prices have gone through the roof.

The same room for the same dates has risen by €210 per night. Just want to say this is a great thread thank you for all the information 👍

  7. Hi

have a look at this you can buy a card

    https://www.traveltomtom.net/destinations/europe/italy/best-prepaid-italy-sim-card

    My recommendation

Traveltomtom recommends buying a Windtre prepaid sim card on arrival at Rome Airport. For €20 you get 20 GB data.

Keep in mind that if you buy a sim card at Rome city center, you can get 100 GB for €20, just saying... check out my complete guide for buying a sim card in Italy for more info.

I am sure you will be able to do the same at other airports or cities

  8. Thanks. We have done that before -- it can be quite a trek at LHR. We are on AA flights run by BA and have arranged for wheelchair service

    Hi

I have just done a dummy booking in early November, I used Nov 3,

the flight leaves Rome at 07.30 and because of the time difference

arrives at Heathrow T5 at 09.30. If your onward flight is with BA 0193 then that flight also departs from T5 at 12.15.
This should be plenty of time to get to the lounge and relax before your flight to Dallas. The only possible AA flight that you can connect to leaves about an hour later from T3

    Have a great trip

Celebrity is currently not doing testing on the ship for embarking passengers.  However you have multiple options for testing in Florida.  Walgreens does offer testing for passengers from the UK.  I had multiple family & friends sailing with us tomorrow, including four guests from the UK, take the on-line test yesterday.  Very quick and easy.  Our UK friends purchased their tests in the UK and brought them with them.  I will ask where they purchased them and post here.

Thanks Anne, the problem is in order to take the flight we will need

to take a test while we are on board the ship 😱

  10. Hello

    can anyone help with this.

we are from the uk and arrive 18 Feb the ship sails on Feb 21

returning to port Everglades on March 3rd. Here is the problem

we fly from Mia to Tampa the flight leaves at 13.45, do Celebrity provide

testing on the ship. If not has anyone used an online test

    thanks

  11. Your review was fantastic, our last cruise was on the Reflection in Feb 2019

and we cannot wait to go sailing again. We are in the Millennium next February.

I notice that you have an Aqua cabin booked and also that the PG is not something that you will pay for in the future. We too have that opinion but, the reason we

sail Aqua is because of Blu. The restaurant is fantastic, ask for a table around the back. It is like having your own private restaurant and the breakfasts are made to order. The service in there is fantastic.

We stayed at a Hyatt Place which was just ok.   We used points and it was 'free' but don't recommend for except .....  Bistro Mezzaluna is right out the front door so if you are looking for a nice italian restaurant to kick things off I do recommend the this restaurant.

We prefer to stay in Hollywood Beach, The Western Diplomat is a wonderful

hotel in a great beachfront location. The trolly bus stops right outside. We have stayed at the Hilton Marina which is also in a good location and close to the

    water taxi stop.

  13. Hello

have stayed in this cabin it is in a fantastic location and has a massive balcony.

very close to the forward elevators which are never very busy.

you are also very close to the secret doorway into the spar. About 12 cabins down there is on the left as you walk forward, an entrance and a staircase up to the spa.

Also the balcony faces aft so you are sheltered from any wind when sailing.

there is window washing equipment nearby but it never bothered us.

IMO this is one of the best cabins.

Way too early to plan on what is needed or what travel rules will be in place next year.  By the beginning of 2022 you should have a better idea of what to do.  Also what are the rules for shipping tests internationally?

You are totally correct, things are changing even now. Europe is very close to lockdown. Reading the newspapers, the migrant crisis is not helping. It seems Germany is becoming a hub for criminal gangs who are smuggling people from

Iraq and Iran and other places. I would guess that these migrants have not been vaccinated and are spreading the disease.
My hope is that those of us who are able and have had the booster jab will

soon be able to travel freely without having a test. On the other hand part of me thinks testing will be here for good as there is too much money involved for the providers.

In 2018,  80 million people travelled through Heathrow, at £20 a test that is an awful lot of money. Or am I being cynical 🤨

They won't ship the test kit to the UK. You would need a US address.

I thought that but if I order extra tests in the uk before we travel

will they be accepted or should I have one sent to my hotel in Florida pre cruise also what is the situation for our stay after the cruise

it is so difficult makes you want to just stay home but that is not going to happen we are going on holiday 👍👍

    thanks

  16. Hi can anyone help, this is our problem, we fly to the USA on Feb 18 and will need to do a test (at the moment) to fly to America. So 2 days before is Feb 16. We will then need to do a test on 19 Feb so that we can board. Do I order a kit to take the test in Florida from the UK a d take it with us or do I do the test on Fort Lauderdale when we arrive.

I know things may change good knows if everything will be in lock down again.

    thanks

Well, the argument for those who do not drink or can find the same food in other venues, cabin upgrades not of value, discounts minuscule and etc..., I wonder the reason some of us continue to sail on X who are E and E+ if no value/reward for sailing X all these years are not there any longer?

Will someone chime in to enlighten me on this?

    bon voyage

    Hi Bo

i just sail with celebrity because I just love the experience
