Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I saw this topic discussed before our recent Viking cruise but I can't find the topic again (and I have searched). My husband has a medication that he injects every three weeks that needs a consistent cool temperature so he called Viking Customer Service with a number someone nicely suggested on this forum. He was assured that it would be no problem, merely take the medication down to medical after we boarded and they would store the medication until he needed to use it. If this is your situation, this is false. Hubby took the medication down and they refused to take it. He explained that he had called and been assured this would be handled with no problem. They simply said no, we don't do it, good-bye. So we stored it in the small cooler in our room where it was, of course, ruined. $6000 worth of medicine. Medication had the prescription attached, we did everything we could to make sure medication was safe, carried it in a medical carrier bag with ice, knowing it would be accepted since Viking reps told us it would. I know everyone can jump in about liability, customer service has various answers for various people, yadda yadda but the facts are this is what happened and I don't want others to think their medications will be stored safely when they will not be.
  2. No. Ours did not. Didn't provide much of anything, including guidance. I guess we'll be searching for a new one.

Thank you Shadowlover, that is good advice.

Except our insurance is 2k and does not carry over. The day after our percentage penalties kicked in was the big price drop on our cruise so with whatever that percentage is and our insurance, we will just enjoy the room we picked and call it a lesson from Viking. It will be a nice cruise but the price drop is significant enough to remember how this goes.

I agree with the don't look policy, but I also join roll calls for cruises and that means whether you look or not you will hear about all the deals someone just got on your cruise. I didn't look at the sales, didn't check on prices, they simply arrived at my attention. This is our first trip on Viking, we're looking forward to a fun cruise with nice folks but this will not happen to us again.

Well, ours has gone down by half and Viking says too bad, so sad. I know it is the luck of the draw and I'm not letting it spoil my trip but I won't pay Viking a year ahead of time again.
  7. We'll need to keep a medication cold and it has been suggested we contact TellUs by e-mail. When I look up "contact us" on My Viking Journey, there is only a phone number. Would someone please tell me the full e-mail to use? Thanks so much.
  8. I doubt I'll book too far ahead on Viking again. Our cruise is not full and has gone down by a third and added upgrades. I don't enjoy reading about how much more I'm paying for a smaller room, but I know it was my choice to book when I did. I agree -- Viking has its policies because they can. We booked for the itinerary we wanted and I guess we're paying the price.
  9. When we go on the Polynesia cruise in November, my husband will wear mostly Hawaiian shirts to dinner. They are cotton, button, have a collar and look nice on him. He only wears a ball cap when he plays softball.
  10. Wonderful pictures and travel review, thanks for sharing.
