  1. I saw you guys on board! I was one of the few people with a little baby girl on board so you may have seen me too. Pretty sure I had number 26 for tender tickets πŸ˜› Bummer about your Amalfi coast excursion! This is one of the reasons I won't do cruise ship excursions anymore. We rented a car and drove it on our own, it was lovely! The driving in Naples though... yikes! It was awesome reading through this post once I got home, glad you had an awesome time!
  2. I bought my airfare on my own. Flying Norse + Easy Jet. $100 JFK to London, $29 to Rome, $149 Rome to JFK, plus luggage it came to about $480 each round trip. It's also hilarious (or sad) that it costs almost as much for my bag to fly as it does for me 😞
  3. I found Bimini to be a MEH port. The beach club is nice, the casino is nice, but eh, if its a longer cruise I guess having just a lazy beach day is nice. I found the other side of the island outside of the resort to be a dump. Id rather (and I cant believe I'm saying this) go to Nassau because at least you have the neighboring islands which are pretty cool. In general though none of the stops in the Bahamas are really great in my opinion except Half Moon Cay.
  4. So I purchased a gift card, and intended to use it towards by balance for a Fiji cruise, but I cant. Customer service tried explaining that cruises from Australia are a separate company like Holland America or Princess. I find this interesting since I booked this cruise on carnival.com in US dollars, yet I cant book a princess or Holland America cruise on Carnival.com Ill use my gift cards on another cruise but either way, I find this ridiculous. Hopefully no one else is planning to use gift cards for one of the Luminosa cruises 🀬😑
  5. Yeah the USA loves to force you to get insurance for everything, and they are all ran by private corporations whose sole motive is to profit. I have a better chance of winning the powerball than needing to be medevaced back to the US. Im not going to waste $2 on a powerball ticket, im not going to waste hundreds of dollars on travel "insurance."
  6. Its not. If you want travel insurance, get it. I have been travelling internationally my whole life, haven't needed insurance, haven't bought insurance, wont buy insurance. im not a paranoid schizophrenic that's worried about all the bad things that could possibly happen. "but but but what if you get hit by a car while slipping on the pool and getting struck by lightning and trampled by a herd of wild giraffes!" Yep, could happen. Not going to by insurance for it.
  7. It wasn't a requirement when I booked, so they can take their insurance and stick it somewhere. I'm not buying scamsurance.
  8. Im in my 30s, I'm not going to ever need travel insurance.. and if I did, I have some sort of insurance through my credit card and work. Its a complete waste of money for me. If you're older and at risk, fine... for me, nope!
  9. I received this in my email tonight.. very confused as I am not sailing until February 2024... surely they aren't going to still require travel insurance?
  10. Last time I was there we hired a driver for like $100 for the day. Have a few places in mind where you want to go or they take you to tourist trap places. Taking the cable up to the mini Cristo redentor is pretty awesome. Supposedly there's a monkeyland place nearby too.
  11. I was supposed to do this cruise last year as well but it got cancelled 14 days before it was supposed to sail. So I said F carnival, took the full refund, and flew to Hawaii, and spend the entire 2 weeks going to all the places the cruise would have for less money. That being said... bummer about kauai, but there is a TON to do from Kona. Id highly recommend just renting a car for the day.. I used Turo when I was there and got a really good deal, and you can find pickup options right by the cruise port. No waiting in lines, and no BS, just get off the boat and get in your car. There are a couple national parks close to the port, if you have the national park passport book its cool to go and get your stamps. There are also a ton of coffee plantations particularly if you drive towards the southern tip of the island. We went to one and just walked around the farm, didnt pay an admission, and then just bought a bunch of stuff afterwards. And since we bought over $100 they shipped it back home for us for free. And if you're REALLY adventurous, Mauna Kea, which was the #1 reason for me going to hawaii, is about an hour drive inland (halfway to Hilo), so you can do it from either port really. If you do this, you MUST rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle and the car can not have mud on them or they wont let you up. I guess it depends on what you are into but Kona is a great stop... Have fun!
  12. Not sure about embarkation, but at every port stop I have been able to bring alcohol on board and keep it.
  13. I booked the 11 day south pacific cruise on Feb 19th, 24. Long way to go but hopefully nothing crazy happens between now and then. Only a couple options to Fiji :(
  14. That helps tremendously, Thank you! I originally had one of the south pacific cruises to Fiji booked on spirit, and Id like to do one in 2024.. It looks like the only one that might go to Fiji is February 18th.
  15. It looks like no south Pacific this year then. How are you seeing these in the app? I can only see my current bookings. Do you see any 10+ days for the 23-24 season? Thanks in advance!
  16. I'm not a fan of any Mexico ports but did a wine tour here too... So awesome. Gorgeous part of the country too. I'll ask deshaun Watson if he knows of a good massage place there. 🏈
  17. I check every day to see if bookings are open yet... Being patient sucks 😭😭
  18. I'm in the same boat as everyone else, waiting to see when a new ship gets announced. I believe the OBC from our canceled cruise has to be used by July, so my luck they wont open bookings until after then. Ill be really disappointed since the Fiji itineraries are what I really wanted, and the only one currently scheduled from Sydney wont work 😞 Worst case I might end up just booking one of the Sydney cruises and flying to Fiji on the way back to the states... not ideal but beats losing the $900 OBC. Still though, I wish they'd give us some inclination into when they will announce the new ship
