Just back from a 14 day cruise on the eclipse and all of us at a table of 8 agreed that the food in the Mdr was excellent with the exception of the lava cake but I think we can allow for one item not being very good.

We have used the bus from Glasgow . Takes us strait to the check in at the port . Enough comfort stops and the driver handles the luggage .

My 70 th is in Feb also and husband and I are doing the canaries on the Ventura. I am sure the Norway one will be very different but after a cold Scottish winter I am looking for some sun. I can't see that there will be that many children on a cruise that leaves on the 21st when half term ends on the 17th!

I am not so bothered what people wear to chic night as long as they are smart but I do miss the special atmosphere of formal nights with the waiters in different uniforms and the entertainment staff all dressed up. There was such a special feeling round the ship.

doesnt a suit shirt and tie take up the same amount of space as a dinner suit?.
I am not for a minute suggesting what other people should wear but we have never had any problem getting our luggage under the airline weight even with dh taking full highland rig. or tux.

Reading all these posts some people come across as hankering for the"old days". I am 69 and DH is 73 and we have just enjoyed a fabulous cruise on the Equinox . It was every bit as good as the first cruise with Celebrity in 2004 and all the others since. Yes there are things we miss like everyone dressing up on formal nights and we don't like the loud music in the martini bar but we are not the only people on the ship and they have to cater for a wide age range and people from lots of different countries. I have been on Pand O and Cunard sailing from Southampton and they were like floating old folks homes . I would rather have the younger vibe of Celebrity any day!

Ladesign us sensible ones will just move beside you!!!!
It was our grandaughters 18th last August and we had planned an outdoor party but we all ended up huddled inside a gazebo with the rain waterfalling of the sides and jackets on so I might think about bringing that winter coat.

We have booked another 2 celebrity cruises because of the overall experience. We did not particularly enjoy the production shows on our recent cruise but loved Jane Curry Phillip Browne and "the other guys" a Franki Valli tribute .

There were 8 of us at the table in the MDR and we all thought the food was excellent on our recent cruise and two of the party were cooks. We just enjoy the fact that we are lucky enough to be on a cruise with a line that provides excellent service and we have tried other lines who don't come anywhere near the quality of food or service.

I am just back from my 10th cruise with Celebrity and enjoyed it every bit as the first one many years ago . The food and service were excellent and there was a much younger crowd on this cruise than in the past so there was a great vibe on the ship. I am 70 years old and enjoyed some of the old ways such as formal night but I felt everyone was dressed very well on "evening chic "night . I was there for the deck party too! Everything changes but cruises are still wonderful.

We also are booked through Celebrity and will be given a day room before our late flight.

The sunset bar is nice but usually busy and sometimes a bit windy.

I also meant to comment on "evening chic". We found most people dressed very well on those nights ,maybe not as many tuxes as there used to be but the majority very smart perhaps because it was a European cruise. Maybe on a Caribbean cruise it might be different but I think Europeans like to dress up.
My problem was trying to get into my nice shoes as my feet had swollen up as usual on a cruise. I should have learned by now to leave the fancy heels at home!

My family and I are just back from a wonderful cruise on the Equinox. we aged from teenage to 40s and 70s and we all had a great time.
I have read a lot of negative reports about the food in the main dining room but we thought the service and food in the MDR was outstanding . There are 2 great cooks and real foodies in our party and they never felt the need to try the speciality restaurants. The sommelier paired our wine with our food every night and even though he had to cover a lot of tables he seemed to manage to get round them all.
Alejandro was a great cruise director and "the other guys" a four seasons tribute band,Phillip Browne and Jane Curry were some of the best acts we have seen on a cruise.
Looking forward to my next cruise with Celebrity.

I have to say I have never had any problems booking excursions on Celebs website in 12 cruises. UK website don't know if that is the difference? IRene

My first sight of Venice from the heli deck of the Connie with a glass of champagne in my hand and The sound of Andrea Bocelli playing in the background in 2009 . Something I will never forget.

Its funny that I am also from Scotland and hated the promenade thing . It reminded me too much of shopping mall near where I live.

It just gets a bit galling when our best buddies from the USA that we cruise with tell us that the price has dropped yet again. I wish they would keep it to themselves LOL.

I suppose so . It doesn't stop me cruising , it's all I think about during these cold winter months!

Obviously we Brits are second class citizens as far as celebrity is concerned . Once we are booked that's it no discounts if the price falls or changing without losing deposits and rebooking.

we are due on 2 celebrity cruises this year. my husband son and son in law being Scottish all have highland dress which they only get to wear for formal nights on cruises and weddings. It looks like these very expensive outfits are going to be packed away and hardly ever worn which seems a great shame.
It was always such a special atmosphere on formal night.
I can understand that people have more luggage restrictions these days but we always managed with just one case each even with the formals.
we are not "stuffys" as someone suggested but just people that enjoyed a special night but we will accept the changes and enjoy our cruising although none of our men would consider any form of jeans as evening chic!
