Australia Cruise Market 2024
Chiliburn replied to JJK2008's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Why would a cruise line want to invest or send more ships here, with a uncertainty of that exemption not being renewed. -
I don’t think the current Mexican ports could really handle an Icon or Oasis at the moment. Especially with other ships in port. RCG can’t expand anymore in the Caribbean and Los Angeles and Mexican west coast would be ideal for expansion. It’s year round sailing,Ship LNG is available ,as you know the Americans can fly into longbeach and just minutes away from the port. California is something like the 8th economy in the world. Not to mention the cheap labour in Mexico They just need to invest in a few ports and maybe a private island ,which wouldn’t be a drama for RCG.

parking for sydney cruise.
Chiliburn replied to martin jenkins's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Some people I know use blue emu at the airport, I don’t know how cheap they are. Someone else I know just use a commuter car park at an outer suburban train station. Park the car in a free parking spot and catch the train. https://prebook.sydneyairport.com.au/en/parkinginformation/blu-emu-parking/ -

spectrum has quite a large suite area. -
I think Royal will pull out of china completely ,the economy is in free fall . I don’t know what will happen with Spectrum. Singapore? Maybe pick up Voyager’s itinerary?

Yeah, I don’t know,I’m still a doubting Thomas but it looks like they are still kicking the can down the road. I think this was the reason Ovation was pulled out of china and sent to L.A. Expressions of interest for partners to develop L.A. cruise Port. Bayley said recently if Ovation does well in L.A. they will send an Icon to the pacific. Hopefully we might be part of that expansion into the pacific. https://www.portoflosangeles.org/references/2024-news-releases/news_062724_cruise_proposal

There was a newspaper article that said day October ? https://au.news.yahoo.com/relief-for-tourists-as-bali-scraps-controversial-visa-fee-for-aussies-062046154.html -
Something like Mystery Island would be viable but it would have to be shared. The U.S just opened an embassy in Vila. I would be good to see the U.S and Japan give some development aid to build a tender wharf.
-
I can’t see how an island dedicated to one cruise line could be viable,we just don’t have the population like U.S. While trawling for Lelepa I found this .Japan might be spending some money on the area in aid . https://www.dailypost.vu/news/mystery-island-upgrades-part-of-pm-s-dialogue-with-japans-pm/article_859cd5a3-6a06-5deb-a752-d7e3783626ed.html

day trip from Sydney to Blue Mountains
Chiliburn replied to jjduck's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I thought it was just a port day. There’s quite a few companies that do it ,they will pick you up from your hotel and nothing to care about. -
Interesting, year round South Pacific island ! I wonder what kind of lease they signed on Lelepa, you would think they would be in breach of contract by now.
-
I thought Lelepa had disappeared into oblivion ? Did you win a new iPhone or an inheritance from some African prince or something? What sort of questions did they ask?

day trip from Sydney to Blue Mountains
Chiliburn replied to jjduck's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
If you look around there would be private companies that do the same thing, that would give you an idea and reviews. But unless you have been to Sydney multiple times and looking for something different.I think you could find something better to do. How long do you have in Sydney? -

Hotel near the Sydney International Airport
Chiliburn replied to gators70's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I agree to stay in town near a train station you will be at the airport by train in no time flat. It’s a bit of a waste land around the airport ,just a industrial area really. A train every 7-10 minutes for $22 AU -
Hop-On Hop-Off Bus in Sydney
Chiliburn replied to gators70's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Yes that’s correct Buses ,Ferries,Trains and light rail (street car) all use the same card . You can get a Opel card and put money on it or use a credit card. You can also put on your phone. If you use the same card there is a daily cap of $18.70 AU So you won’t pay more than that for unlimited travel. -
@springaussie They will need more quantum’s on the west coast. https://www.cruisehive.com/137-million-cruise-port-purchase-backed-by-royal-caribbean-gets-greenlit/141057

Hop-On Hop-Off Bus in Sydney

You can still buy the old paper tickets from the station master or a machine but you don’t get the daily cap of $18.70 . -
Transfers to and from Sydney Airport
Chiliburn replied to gators70's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
How many people? Shuttles don’t have a good reputation in Sydney,I would just get a taxi or Uber. It will cost around $50-$70 . If you’re adventurous the train has a station under the airport and has a direct service to Wynyard station. But you will be tired. Down load the app. https://transportnsw.info/apps/opal-travel
