  1. I’m so sad that dense chocolate cake is of the dessert menu. (photo from Mccooltravel.com)
  2. Oh wow! Even better! I think I have a jar of truffle I’ve yet to dive into! This could be the occasion!
  3. Is that really risotto? It looks like polenta to me. I think either would be delicious… of course pictures sometimes make dishes look different than they are. Is that pesto on top of the egg?
  4. I’ll miss reading your posts! But of course your decision is yours and for what it’s worth makes total sense to me. I started reading all these WC posts and blogs a few years ago when I was laying in bed with a broken ankle. Fun way to travel vicariously!
  5. HEY! A monkey has to do, what a monkey has to do to feed the family. 😂
  6. Are you referring to the Komodo Dragons or Lounge Lizards at the watering hole? 😆
  7. I’m worried for the employees. They seem to take care of their crew more generously than other cruise lines… https://bnnbreaking.com/finance-nav/viking-cruises-eyes-500m-us-ipo-to-fuel-expansion-and-reduce-debt
  8. Here’s a quirky idea…. They do ship transfers for the river ships… what if they did something similar… got you as close to where you were supposed to be then sent you off by air to some land stops while the ship and crew transited to the next safe area…
  9. ❤️ But of course! You’re Clay & Mike! 😂 Are they going to serve them with pistachio buns? 😉
  10. Thanks to @Heidi13 and @cruising denise for the information on the economics of missing a port. I sometimes wondered about that. Not really about Viking, since most shipboard activities are included… but about some of the lines with more nickel and diming and art auctions and casinos, and additional charge things like go cart racing and surf boarding etc.
  11. I figured! But I appreciated her video... ABL Always be learning! 🙂
  12. A couple of days ago Captain Kate from another cruise line posted a very informative Instagram post about narrow entries and wind and 'crabbing'. It's worth a look.
  13. Thanks Clay… some variation of the rules have been posted. I just wanted to get him pondering the possibilities… 🙂
  14. I’d love to know more about the rules for the ship building contest. I hear they also do them on the Chilean Fjords cruise we are taking next year… and my hubs is an engineer so this could keep him busy for months perhaps scheming. 😂
  15. Aoibhin was the CD when when I was on the Star this time last year. She’s fabulous. Loved all her bright outfits! Bubbly personality!
  16. I plan on checking on my MArine Traffic App the day of boarding... Also it is possible to call the ship. The phone number is somewhere on your documents.
  17. Following for early November cruise. The Viking ship might be small enough that it will stay.
  18. So Viking handled our bags several times on our 2022 Norway-Iceland Cruise. We started with a pre-extension in Oslo. On the last evening in Oslo, we left our large bags outside our room and a luggage baggage handling company picked them up and took them by van/truck to the hotel in Bergen. I'm trying to remember... I think they were waiting for us inside our room, or maybe outside our room at the Bergen hotel. I don't bring anything expensive or delicate with me when I travel. In situations like this, I always keep necessary documents and medication with me in a day pack.
  19. Also… if one person in the cabin has to bow out it should be easier to substitute someone else. Sure there could be a fee. But how it is done now is ridiculous.
  20. I’d really love more overnight ports on cruises. The chance to dive more deeply into the location. Not all ports of course but some. I’d love to see more small group excursions…. But monetarily I get that it would be challenging. There should always be the option to book a 1 day pre extension that just includes the hotel and transfer to the ship. Transfer from the airport would be great too… but I can live without that. To be able to fly in the day before to take some of the stress off the fly in would help lower anxiety greatly. No one likes that part. It would also give lost bags some time to catch up. Flying post 2020 is not what it was in 2019.
  21. I always recommend a stop to see the Glass Flowers at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. They are absolutely amazing and you will not find them anywhere else in the world. So realistic they will take your breath away! https://hmnh.harvard.edu/glass-flowers
  22. I do not hesitate to recommend them based on my experience. Also, check out their Trip Adviser reviews.
