  1. We are a family of 8 scheduled to arrive back at Port Liberty on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 6:00 a.m. We will be flying home from Newark. We can purchase a flight at 11:30 a.m. or 1:47 p.m. The 11:30 flight is quite a bit less costly. We will have to take taxis or UBER to the airport. We can walk off with our luggage if necessary. Wondering what those of you who have been on this ship in a similar situation think. There can be a lot of traffic, but it is on a Sunday. What would you advise? What time would you suggest we leave the ship? Any information/advice is welcome. Thank you.
  2. We are a family of 8, scheduled to arrive back to Port Liberty on Anthem of the Seas, Sunday, April 2, 2023. Arrival is currently scheduled for 6:00 am. We will be flying home on United from EWR to DTW. Our choices are an 11:30 am flight or a 1:47 pm flight. The earlier flight is $450 less (total). Would it be reasonable to purchase the earlier flight? We would have to take Uber or taxis from the ship to the airport. I know traffic can be bad, but it is a Sunday morning. We can just do a walk off with our luggage, if necessary. Just looking for information/advice from people who may have been in this similar situation. Thank you.
  3. We are from Michigan and usually fly to Florida for a March cruise. Airfares currently are more than the cruise. We are considering a cruise on Anthem of the Seas, March 26, out of Cape Liberty. It would be a 10 hour drive for us, but that is much less costly than the air tickets. So, I realize that weather is not always an exact science, but I am just looking for information from people who may have done a cruise at this time of the year from the NYC area. I know that we will probably have nice weather the days we are in the Florida and Bahamas area, but am wondering about the first and last sea days. This is a 3-generation family cruise with 6 adults and 2 girls, ages 13 and 15. Any information or advice about weather or parking at the terminal is welcome. We have cruised from here before, but that was in the summer and we flew in the day prior to the cruise. Thank you for your assistance.
  4. No, we did not require converters. I also use a C-PAP at night. Prior to the cruise, I contacted RCCL Special Needs and requested an extension chord and distilled water. It was in my stateroom.
  5. Approximately what is the cost p/p for the rt tickets from pier to Maho/Sunset Bar?
  6. We have received a $200 on board credit for our November cruise. I am trying to reserve some specialty dining that is $247.00. If I reserve it, will they charge my credit card the entire $247 or just the $47 and then use the on board credit? Or do I have to use the on board credit once I am onboard? Also, if I book something and then later change my mind, can I just cancel it and receive a refund back to my card/ As you can see, it has been a long time since we had any on board credit. Any information/advice is welcome. Thank you.
  7. We are scheduled for a 7 night cruise on November 27. As of today, we have to test. Hopefully, it will be eliminated by November.
  8. Can I use the FREE tests the government will send us together with the Onpoint testing monitor?
  9. Do any of you know whether or not cruise ships are be often delayed in returning to New Orleans? We are considering a Dec 1 cruise on RCCL that will return to New Orleans on Saturday, Dec 9. Scheduled to arrive back at 7:00 am and we are looking at an 11:30 flight. We only cruised from there one other time and that was years ago, but I do remember LOTS of traffic on the river. Any information/advice is welcome. Thank you.
  10. We are now 75 and 74 years old. We have always done some very long and extensive trips, but now are probably going to be limited to week long cruises or a week at a resort somewhere. No more strenuous activities as far as I can see. We don't really need any more cancellation coverage, as we can absorb the lost cost of the trip itself if need be. However, we are on Medicare and have a secondary, but it does not cover us outside of the USA. So, where can we get just a policy for medical coverage and emergency evacuation? All advice/information is welcome. Thank you.
  11. One additional item - We left the ship and went to the airport for a Delta flight. The Delta terminal was VERY crowded, as so many cruise passengers kept arriving from the several ships. At 9:00 am, they announced that they would only be checking in passengers who had flights scheduled for before noon. It would appear that Delta is also short staffed and could not just keep checking in luggage so far ahead of flight times. Just want to report this as there were not as many ships arriving as there will be in the winter time.
  12. We returned today from the Infinity 7 night Western Caribbean cruise. This will be my "review" of things I think people may be interested in knowing. The Infinity is one of the older and smaller ships. There are some places where painting is needed, but we were very pleased with the overall appearance of the ship. Our verandah cabin (7177) was very nice and actually felt large to us. We also thought the bathroom was adequate size and liked the rectangular shaped shower. Guest services told me that there were 1642 passengers, which is about 75% of capacity. We were never in any area that felt crowded. We tend to "socially distance" even without Covid being around. The only time we were actually close to others was during dinner, when our table for two was approximately 1 foot from another table for two, but other than "hellos" upon being seated, there were no shared conversations. We are not anti social but simply do not have to always be talking with others. We never heard any announcements concerning passengers who had Covid. There seemed to be quite a few new crew members who were not always sure where equipment was located or exactly what they were supposed to do. But they were all friendly and very eager to please. Our stateroom attendant and waiters were excellent. I had to laugh when I asked our sommelier for a certain pinot noir and was offered an inferior type with the comment "It is also from California and they are all the same". Then why do they charge different prices? Food was the typical menu for a 7 night cruise. The dining room only appeared "crowded" on lobster night. They could not have handled a full capacity ship with the amount of waiters on duty, as the "chaos" of that evening demonstrated. Overall, we had a very enjoyable cruise and would gladly sail on the Infinity sometime in the future.
  13. We sail this Saturday. I took my proctored EMed test this morning at 6:00 am. My wife took hers at 9:00 am. Our results came to our email within 5 minutes. The actual test took 25 total minutes, and 15 of those were just waiting for the test itself to get the results. I had my morning coffee during that waiting period.
  14. We cruise on Saturday. It is my understanding that we can test for Covid on Thursday. We are using the monitored E-Med test. Does it matter when on Thursday we test? Could I do it as early as 6:00 am when I get up? Or should it be later in the day? Does the print out I will make from the E-Med site give a time, a date, or what does it give? Our first time doing this test, as we usually do it at CVS, but they are now requiring us to do an actual clinic visit to get the test.
  15. UPDATE: I set up E-Med accounts for myself and my wife. I also have a Navica account on my phone. Today, I went into E-Med to make sure it would work. My wife's account was fine. It would not log me into my account. I first tried to change the password but it would not allow it. I then tried to make a brand new account, but it would not allow it. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with an E-Med rep. I was told they would send me a "temporary" password so that I could test. Can I log in with the temporary password and then create my own password? NO. They will also send me a link to establish a new password (which is what I already tried but it wouldn't accept it). It may take 2 days to get this. I was then told that if I had a Navica account I could just go to "profiles" and add another person to Navica account, and then both of us could test that way. Rep also said they were having trouble with parts of the website. I really hope I can find a CVS that will test us this coming Thursday.
  16. We bought our test last November in case we could not get an appointment for a pre-cruise test at CVS. These were the only options, at that time, for a self-administered test. So, I paid for them and may have to use them this week as our local CVS is not doing them anymore. I think they are "good" through this coming November.
  17. We have some of the EMED monitored tests. We have had them as a "back up" in case we cannot get a test done at CVS. I now think we may have to use them this week. Do we just go onto the EMED site and establish an account to take the test and get the result? Do we each have to have our own account or can we use the same account? Do we also have to establish a NAVICA account? What is the difference between these two? I looked at the "Begin Test" and it said something about NAVICA. Also, do they send us the results that we can print out for Celebrity? Any info is welcome. I have looked at the videos, but am getting a little paranoid right now. We cruise on the 16th. Thank you for any info/advice.
  18. That is not much more than she pays here in the metro Detroit area. We are basically staying on the ship this cruise as we have been to all of these ports many times and are really just wanting to get away for a week. I am sure she will get it cut on board. She was not very receptive to the "braids" idea. Thanks for all of the info.
  19. Maybe I will take a pair of scissors with me.✂️😁
  20. My DW just told me that she doesn't have "time" to get her hair cut before we leave next Friday for our Infinity cruise. She said she will just get it done on the ship. Any idea on how much that is going to set me back? We are Elite if that matters as far as discounts. I think she said wash, cut, and blow dry.
  21. Any idea how I take AMTRAK to Fort Lauderdale from Detroit? It is a 7 NIGHT CRUISE. Adding one more night in a hotel after hopefully flying in a day early is enough. I don't need to ride trains for hours or take 4 extra nights total in driving down and driving back. This is a discussion of airlines, specifically DELTA, not being as reliable as in past years, due to several different things. DELTA has now tried to address the problem by cutting back on their schedule. Let us hope it works out and people don't miss their long planned trips when their flight is cancelled.
  22. I don't like to drive long distances. I had to drive home from Orlando when our flight was canceled. That is the longest distance I have driven in 30 years. Some people don't mind driving. I do.
