Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Question- Do they still use key card access or just the Medallion now? Thanks!
  2. Hi- Over the last couple years we've seen Heineken 0.0, O'Doul's, St. Pauli Girl, Buckler and Becks. Seems to vary from time to time depending on the ship and location. There may be others but less frequently. Don't usually see many US brands (Bud, etc.), but that's a good thing! Walt
  3. Hi- I'm pretty sure my last cruise (in a suite) in August 2023, they had the dining room menus loaded on the TV system. I think you might be able to order from the dining room that way. Don't know about delivery charges.
  4. I think the pricing seen in the app has a lot to do with where the ship is currently deployed. I had checked my Nov 2024 Mexico cruise on Majestic and see AUD pricing. Majestic is currently deployed to AU/NZ. I had checked my Jan 2026 AU/NZ cruise on Discovery and see USD pricing. Discovery is now deployed on CA coast. A minor glitch in the app?
  5. So to add to the confusion- I'm booked on the Majestic Princess in Nov 2024 for a Mexican Riviera 10 day cruise. If I look at the app to book specialty dinner in the Crown and it was listed as $63. Is that because the Majestic is currently down under so it's reflecting AUS$ instead of US$? I'm going to wait until the Majestic moves to Alaska later this spring to see if the pricing goes back to US$. So odd.
  6. Hi, We did the sub in Waikiki last May. You meet at the beach, take a boat to a stationary platform and transfer to the sub. It was quite entertaining for a one time thing to do. It's not like seeing underwater life like you do in photos; mostly a lot of gray, silver, etc. All the fantastic colors you see in photos uses lighting to bring out the natural color of the sea life. I think it is similar in all locations. There's a manmade 'reef' created by sinking things, then the sea life populates the area. Worth it once.
  7. The same thing happened when I booked a 2026 AUS/NZ cruise the day they went on sale. Never got the option to add a package during booking. Now when I go to the cruise personalizer, I can add a package. Same price, instant pay. Perhaps Princess wants us to purchase afterwards so they get the $ up front? I'm a bit apprehensive to purchase so soon, but I'm afraid they will increase the price of the packages. I suppose paying now will decrease the pain at final payment!
  8. If you are eligible for the 'free' 260 experience, it should be listed on your booking summary. My upcoming cruise to New Zealand under Special Services indicates "360 Dining Suite Entitlement" with a no charge.
  9. We were on the Grand last August. Crown Grill was great as always, Sabatini's was TERRIBLE. Bad service, bad food. The bad carried over to suite breakfast; we were forced to have a conversation with the maître d' about it all. We had to insist on a different waiter. We've never done the chef's table, but it looks interesting.
  10. This method only works with the old app. For the new app, you have to log out. Then log in using the booking number of the other cruise to complete the log in. Hopefully a later version will fix this issue.
  11. Glad you got this worked out. I checked our 2026 New Zealand cruise to see if the 360 experience was still free since we book long before Princess made the change for suite guests. The travel summary clearly states '360 Dining Suite Entitlement' with no charge. However, if I try to book on the app, it shows a charge of $149 per person. I'll just make sure I have a printed copy of the travel summary and deal with the charges on board; I don't want to risk missing out because I didn't book in time.
  12. I read free is going away on the 360 for full suites. I believe those booked before December 1(?) will be grandfathered in for the free benefit, after that everyone will have to pay $150.
  13. On Princess.com, find the cruise he has booked. You can then look at flight quotes even you're not booked or logged in. Search for a cruise, click cruise details. Scroll down to Flight Quotes. You can enter all the information to get an idea what's out there. Then you'd need to log into Cruise Personalizer to book. Hope this helps!
  14. Hi- Are you talking about in the Medallion app? I've had several times where my loyalty color was wrong in the app when trying to order the medallion. The easiest way (and only way) to fix this is to contact the Princess customer service people, then they have to forward it over the the "ocean navigator" folks to correct the programming issue. It usually takes a week or 2 to fix. The last time it happened to us, the sent a email notifying me that it was correct. Walt Loving the live in CA, born and raised in Fairfax, VA!
  15. We were recently on the Grand southbound Whittier to Vancouver and crew/staff was really hit or miss. There didn't really seem to be a shortage of staff, but I think there must have been a recent staff change over. A lot of staff seemed lost, were rude and generally poor at their jobs, while others were fantastic. An example would be in Sabatini's; we had one waiter that was the worst ever on any cruise. For the suite breakfast we had the same waiter the first day and ended up requesting a different waiter for the duration of the voyage. Thankfully the maître d' was very accommodating. Staff at the Explorer's Lounge were the worst we've ever encountered at that venue. On the opposite side of the spectrum, staff at the customer service desk were the friendliest and most helpful ever as were the staff at the Piazza bars and International Café. I will note, overall the staff seemed less ethnically diverse on this cruise which I find diminished the experience. Part of what we like about cruising is meeting all the different crew from all over the world!
