  1. I am interested in peoples thoughts of the Privasea or hull balconies....they are a bit cheaper and I would guess help if it is rainy or windy.....
  2. Thank you for sharing! We are booked on a southbound next summer but I am thinking of changing to Northbound.
  3. We always book balconies and prefer the aft. We are looking at cruising Alaska next year and are considering an inside or oceanview. On warm weather cruises we use the balcony all of the time but other than seeing Glacier Bay on our balcony I would not see much use in having one. I do not like cold.....Also we could use the money we save on the cabin to really enjoy seeing Alaska off the ship. It is a hard decision and I keep going back and forth..
  4. Thank you for your reply. I actually found her on Trip Advisor and she has nothing but great reviews so I will add mine when we come home. I never thought about the fact that she is at work and like the rest of us can't wait to go home. Your input is much appreciated!!
  5. Cruisemom I value your opinions on here so I am asking for your thoughts on this. We will be using and independent guide for a small group tour ( 7 of us). We will be using her services for 3 days in Rome. I understand the no tipping in Europe and that she has probably included "gratuities" in her fees as this is her own business. How do you suggest we thank her for her service at the end of the last tour? Treating her to lunch or dinner after our tour? She has been so wonderful to work with as far as planning and accommodating us, I can not imagine her not being a fabulous guide. I guess it is the American in me that has a hard time not tipping and just walking away with a thank you.
  6. We are doing the southbound....Dailies would be awesome!!
  7. Enjoying your review and can't wait to read more! Thank you for taking the time to post.
  8. We do the same....We take the euro with us and I have them in envelopes for the tours, transportation etc....then I use our credit card for whatever I can.
  9. We loved Hawaii and it is one of the most beautiful places we have been to. My MIL has bad knees and when they went a few years ago they booked excursions through NCL. My suggestion is to look at the excursions listed with NCL - you can filter them by level of activity. They are a bit pricey but you may find some that appeal to you that have very little walking or easy walking. At the end of the excursion description it usually says things like walking on uneven surfaces to give you a better idea.
  10. I saw this the other night on the news....I myself am thinking about spending a night there either pre or post cruise but that is not until 2021. I love the concept and nostalgia.....
  11. Thank you all for your replies....They are booking today. I am excited for them....nothing like being a first time cruiser.
  12. My DH and I "dress up" only once during a cruise and that is if I am lucky. He is a jeans and Harley t-shirt kind of guy and we are far from formal. The main reason we stick with NCL.
  13. Thank you all for the replies, it sounds similar to NCL's dress code. I am sure they will be happy to hear what I have to tell them.
  14. I am New to Royal Caribbean but not new to cruising . I am researching a cruise for some friends of mine. Are there other less formal dining options on Formal nights? Don't get me wrong they are always well dressed but being from Texas dressed up is starched jeans, button up shirts, boots and maybe a sport coat. I know that will be fine most nights but being their first cruise I don't want them to feel out of place by being under dressed. Thank you in advance for any and all replies.
