  1. My wife and daughter have one method, bung as much as the cases can take and if overweight remove until correct weight for air flights. I make sure I have a space for their purchases when away. On our Singapore to Australia cruise I have no doubt we will be coming back with one more new suitcase 😊
  2. Thanks joejoe 59. I am the same with computers that why I have to ask all these questions 😁 I have already contacted Royal Caribbean who unfortunately informed me that we have to get the Indonesian visa on line ourselves before the cruise.☹️
  3. This part sounds confusing ( Currently, Australians visiting Indonesia don’t require a visa if staying for less than 30 days, however this can’t be extended. For stays longer than 30 days, a Visa on Arrival is needed.) Are they talking about the same arrival VoA that we need for 1 day ?
  4. That would be a nightmare for me if I had to all the paperwork, paying them would be worth it to save the headaches.
  5. Lembar port and then Darwin, Cairns etc.
  6. Thanks Chilliburn, that would be great if they do that before the cruise. For what I gather if you have an English passport you don't have to bother. I am not to good with computers, I do get by but when you are in your 80s the old brains are not so sharp, thank goodness I have you guys to help me out. CC and the family have been invaluable to me.😊
  7. Thats good thank you. Lot of messing about for 1 day and I doubt I will be going ashore. 🙂
  8. Did look on the Indonesian Site mentioned 30 days validity but could not see when it applied. Thanks John.
  9. Thanks that would be great. Good advice 👍
  10. Thank you,I did find and read all of those post earlier and it was very helpful. The information I am actually looking for is how many weeks before travelling can I apply. I am not very good with computers and it sounds like it is a bit involved and would love to get that part of it out of the way as early as I can. Do they start the countdown for your 1 day stay from the time of application or the date of arrival ? Would have been good for me if the ship handled it like the earlier days. Cheers John.
  11. This has probably been discussed but I cant seem to find it. I would like to know if it is possible to apply for the Indonesia VoA visa well in advance unlike the 3 day SG arrival card. From what I have read Indonesia VoA seems a bit more involved than the SG one. I am spending 5 days in Singapore before the repositioning cruise with Royal C. I would like to have the VoA pass sorted out well before I leave Australia. From what I can make out you need to have it to allow you to embark at Singapore. Cheers John
  12. I look at it from my point of view and that is you are going on a nice cruise from Sydney and returning, the question is are you going to enjoy the cruise knowing that you have a tight schedule on returning. This personally would be on my mind. Without doubt I would give myself plenty of time to arrive at the airport. I have often disembarked way to early for my flight and managed to spend a pleasant time around the harbour and allowing plenty of time to catch the train to the airport. Stress and I do not go well together. Cheers John.
  13. Mmm sounds the same as Carnival, on the Luminosa for sure.☹️
  14. Thanks guys, looks like I will have a serious talk with myself and make a decision. I am not adverse to staying aboard at ports that I have been to before but I normally try to go ashore where it is the first time if it is worth it. cheers John
  15. Finding it difficult to find information regarding R.C.I Quantum 5hr shore excursion to Senggigi. Most reviews I have read mention there is not much there. If I book this excursion we would be staying in that area as I have limited movement. I was hoping to park myself down somewhere comfortable while the wife and Daughter explored the town ( if there is one ). I am not sure but I think there is no tender at Lenbar port and I am wondering if it is worth exploring the port area. Hopefully you guys are familiar with this port call and can enlighten me. Cheers John.
  16. I must admit that although I was very sceptical before boarding, although not modern I ended up really liking this ship. I took inflatable pads as I had read the beds were very hard ( never used them ) loved the cabin 7242, even ended up liking the opening outward balcony door more than the sliding doors ( no rattling and double glazed made it so quiet in the cabin ) only problem is you cant leave it open unless you prop it open with the foot stall, of course with air con you are not supposed to anyway. As I mentioned in my earlier post, ( and this of course is purely personal ) the food was not to my liking, missed the crispy bacon, the scrambled egg I believe was powdered egg. I must admit I preferred the Ovation open food stations than the individual ones on this ship. I ended up desperately trying to find something food wise to enjoy, after all to me that is an important part of my cruises. Hopefully others will find it okay. In conclusion well worth a go if prepared for the food situation. Cheers John.
  17. 😂 It is actually not too bad when you get on the ship. I was very critical when I saw the photos beforehand. My impression on first boarding was of being comfortable.
  18. Back this morning. 7 night cruise North. Great weather except the sea was too calm for my liking. Cabin was great on deck 7 forward. Only up 2 decks for the buffet. Only saw 2 people with mask, hardly any coughing so the wife and I are keeping our fingers crossed that we have missed the dreaded Covid. I had my doubts about the Luminosa but I really liked it even though the deco was designed by someone with a drink problem. The crew were excellent and the passengers, even after some negative reviews beforehand, were great, no pushing in at the buffet. Seriously a great cruise let down by the quality of the food. Never the less I enjoyed the cruise. Embarkation very speedy as was disembarkation. Enjoyed the onboard atmosphere it was very lively so if you are a couple of 80 year olds who like seeing people enjoy themselves go for it.We even stayed up way after our bedtimes listening to the live bands, feel tired now though. 😂 Cheers John.
  19. Good to know thank you. Shame it does not notify ( sound wise )
  20. Thank you, I guess it has some other uses so I will download it .For only $9 the chat is worth a try. Shame it is a bit hit and miss as it sounds like a great idea. Thanks for your post.🙂
  21. Most reviews for the Carnival app are not too good regarding the chat option. They mention that the text can have long delays with the app also disconnecting. Cant seem to find recent reports and I wonder if they have improved in recent times. I will be on the Luminosa soon and also wonder if it differs on different ships. I would be thankful if any recent cruisers who have used the app ( chat ) on the Luminosa could enlighten me. Cheers John
  22. Thank you for all the post. We will take enough mask to last the 7 day cruise and probably just wear them in the crowds. Probably be ok up on deck and we hope to find a table on the outside if we use the buffet. We know there is no guarantee that mask will stop covid but I guess wearing one is better than nothing. It is hard to realise that covid is still around as there seems to be no mention of it from the cruise ships any more. Cheers John.
  23. Old subject. Our first cruise is coming up soon since covid showed its ugly head. I wondered how many people are wearing mask ( if any ) on the cruises lately. Cheers John.
  24. Latest is P&O has advised people booked on a Whitsundays cruise out of Brisbane on Tuesday they will stay closer to home due to the approaching cyclone. Instead of heading north for a day trip to Airlie Beach, the company has advised Pacific Encounter guests that they will visit Tangalooma, on Mulgumpin (Moreton Island), “where you will be able to experience all the attractions of an island resort”.
