  1. I'm not an international flyer, so some grace, please. We fly out of Raleigh early am to get to Toronto ~8am ish. Flight to Vancouver leaves 10:15..ish. 1) Do we collect our bags here, for Customs check (and is it Customs ck, then bags ck) 2) is it Customs person ck only 3) no Customs ck until Vancouver Am I making too much of this - I'm just not wanting to be concerned about making the next flight. All on Air Canada. The last topic I saw on this was a few years old... times change. Thanks all.
  2. We've been loyal to royal, enough that we're 3 nights from diamond plus. Does anyone think that royal will create a cruise experience for those not needing/wanting the bells and whistles of the megaship that rci is investigating their capital in. I have no problem with their direction- makes sense for shareholders. I'm just missing the experience we started with. Any thoughts on what to try? Or, if celebrity could pick us up, with not just benefits shared, but adding to a singular reward account. Thanks for listening. Stay warm for those in the cold, and enjoy the sun those on the seas.
  3. It's been years since I played on ship Next week we're going with.folks wanting to play. What's the cost these days, and how is it different from a couple decades ago. 🤭 Many thanks.
  4. Is it possible to 'cancel' (get credited back) the gratuities I paid with my cruise payment. I'd like to use OBC for that. Thinking the process would be to go to front desk, they would be happy to credit my card on file. That should be no different that someone who waits to pay on board? Or not. It's a 5 day out of US if that makes a difference. Thanks Another OBC - we can put money on account to play in casino -, then when completed playing cash out for cash - a 5% fee maybe? Again, thanks
  5. Piggy backing/hijacking if I may...the train comes in at 8pm...what do people do between then and if they're taking a red eye back to the east coast ie 2am? Assuming cab from train to airport_ which I'm told will not require 2hr window for check in. We're adding on land after cruise. Thinking the additional train up.to fairbanks gives more views of Alaska. Or should we do a tour, with travel back to anchorage and forget the denali_fairbanks piece? Thanks.
  6. I've never paid attention to the black Friday sales before. I'm now Ina position to take last minute deals. As you recall, do any of the bf sales involve last minute cruises between Thanksgiving and Christmas? Particularly out of Port Canaveral. Thanks all
  7. I've followed the comments that MDR meal length has taken a long time, and it is being addressed. Thinking back, I can't remember how long it took - that was when the Asst waiter did all non-alch beverages, brought rolls around more than when you first sat down, there were designated bar staff in the DR, after dinner drinks (shooters) were offered, the wait staff showed you a platter of desserts for you to order - after you completed your meal. It seems like we spent a length of time in the DR chatting, etc with our table mates and dinner moved at an ok speed. Is it really that the wait staff does so much more, making it harder to get the food on the table , or are we becoming accustomed to an eat and get on mentality? Just random thoughts, no criticism, must thoughts
  8. I understand JR milkshakes are included in the Refreshment Pkg - a couple ??? ( I did a search, my apologies if it's been covered ad nauseum prior) 1) Is there a daily limit on how many you can get? 2) How do you get the shakes without paying the cover charge - in prior trips (years ago) you paid the cover to go in. 3) Any other things to be aware of, especially w the Refreshment Pkg Thanks all
  9. In prior cruises, not Alaska, we've tended to go with independent vendors, vs the cruise company's excursions. Which did you chose and why - I'm probably not a bus-full-of-people tourist, if that gives you an opinion for me. Yup, planning Alaska is a different animal than caribbean, Thanks everyone
  10. Interesting - how many go out in a tour? Assuming you stop at misc places to hear about it's importance..
  11. I've done some research and am coming up blank - a yes or no answer is all I need Have you encountered any Travel agents that truly specializes in Alaska cruising? I won't keep looking if the majority of responses is no, if yes, I'll keep looking. Thanks all - as many of you say - this is a different animal then caribbean cruising, and may be a once in a lifetime thing. I appreciate your responses. Thanks
  12. We are considering this ship sponsored excursion. It will be our first time here. Can someone (s) tell me how large a group they so this with? A large busful, a van...trying to see if we would get enough out of it. Thanks all
  13. 2 questions: if I'm originally booked for early dining ( 5:30), how difficult is it to get 6:30 or so times if I changed to mytime? Tell me again if you're mytime, can you get same wait staff/table mates, or is every day diff. Also, dinner in the Windjammer, along with entree and desserts, are appetizers also offered..ie escargot.. Thanks all.
