Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I had one of those studios on my POA cruise lol
  2. Yeah, I just meant with more people using the app there are less people saving and posting the physical copies online.
  3. I would love to see the dailies for the 5 day Bermuda out of NYC. I know things are still pretty uncertain but I like an idea ahead of time of what nights they usually do certain shows so I have a clue when I board and go to reserve dinners and other shows.
  4. Seems most folks use the app so there's not as many copies floating around online anymore. I usually have my phone on me but like looking at my highlighted paper copy at a glance . Funny because at home my phone is my calendar and everything else, guess the hardcopy is my 'on vacation' mindset.
  5. it's been years since I was on POA but if it's still offered I highly highly highly recommend the sunrise excursion up Mount Haleakala. Right now I'm staring at the pic I took and had enlarged and hangs on my wall (bring a coat... you're on a mountain).
  6. Loved Food Republic when I was on Bliss pre-covid and I'm very disappointed it's not on Getaway for my upcoming trip. Had Q but I remember the music not the food!
  7. As we all know there is no cookie cutter answer. Depends mostly on you as a solo cruiser and what experience you want to have. I can be very outgoing when I choose and find that doing things solo (not just cruising) actually opens me up to more experiences. I can try new things without worrying about what other people want to do. And when you're solo it seems people are more open to engaging with you out of the blue versus when you're with other and they don't want to intrude. Specifically with NCL, I have been on a smaller ship where no one showed up to any meetings so after day 2 the staff moved on to other duties and I shrugged and amused myself elsewhere, including crashing a honeymoon (couple I saw all the time on and off the ship lol). On the Bliss it was the complete opposite and opportunities for group dinners, shows, cart racing, etc. were arranged daily. Or you could even cuddle into a lounger on the observation deck and spend your trip reading a book by yourself if you choose.
  8. Few years ago we pull in to BVI and I was supposed to have an excursion over to Soggy Bottom and had been looking forward to it for months. I was reserved on the second trip out there but it got cancelled. By that time there were no other official excursions and I hadn't researched anything else. I was a solo traveler and saw a couple ladies that were supposed to go as well and asked them what they were doing instead and did they mind if I tagged along... we ended up on a shuttle to one of the beaches a little further out and had a ball. Turns out they both lived pretty close to me (one of them in the same town). That night we learned the people who did make it to Soggy Bottom had very rough waters and I was glad they had cancelled. Changed plans suck but cruising, especially during hurricane season, is a gamble and comprehensive insurance is always recommended.
