I did the TA on Regal in April too. Lots of solos and helped organise the solo tables for dinner. Booked on Emerald TA next April.

I agree with you about jumping ship to other lines. I have Panorama TP booked for October but sadly feel it will be my last Carnival cruise. I love Transatlantics and my two recent ones have been on Princess. The first had no solo supplement, booked after final payment, the second one minimal. Had offer to upgrade to balcony with minimum bid which I did. I can still get $250 OBC for Shareholder benefit . Like you I used to love the solo 1A prices and the portholes.

It seems strange. I do know that Carnival provides Kosher meals but they are frozen. Sounds like the group wanted to take over a kitchen on the ship and I can't imagine any line allowing that.

In the old days Carnival had the new ships TAs all leaving from Rome so I have stayed there many times. When I was solo I often stayed in convents so that could be another option for you. Sometimes there are religious celebrations at the Vatican in October so more pilgrims (Sainthoods etc) so bear that in mind. July and August is too hot.
