Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Was really excited about Spellbound until I saw the dress code. So disappointing. I stopped bringing jackets and ties on cruises several years ago. I hate wearing them on land and even more so at sea. I get they are trying to stick close to the experience at the Magic Castle, but as was mentioned before it's one thing to throw on a coat and tie for an evening out, and another to have to pack it and drag it around with you. And I'm with @bnickle's husband when it comes to the idea of wearing a blazer/jacket/suit coat on a plane. I'll be interested to see whether that dress code sticks or it gets relaxed at some point. But since I'm never going to get an invitation to the Magic Castle, if this is the only way I can get a taste of the experience, I might do it. It'd be a one time only thing, but I might do it.
  2. I know this is an older thread, but wanted to let folks know that Celebrity lifted the cap on the amount of gift cards you can use for a booking. We booked Ascent for December and used $1500 (3 x $500) in Celebrity gift cards from AARP without any problem. The AARP fine print for the Celebrity and RC cards says they had a cap of $500 per booking, so we asked our TA to confirm whether that was still the case so that we didn't overbuy. She checked with Celebrity and was told that the cap had been lifted, so we bought three (total booking was under $2k so $1500 was the most we could from gift cards). I don't know if the cap is gone, or if there is just a new upper limit over what we used, but I recommend checking with Celebrity before you buy.
  3. Still says 7 am when I look. Given that it's only 60 miles from OC to Miami being on time wasn't going to be an issue, with or without engine issues. It's 11:49 and we're less than 30 miles from Miami.
