  1. Thank you so much for such a thorough review - and so sorry that the "bug" hit your family.

Since obviously you spent more time in your cabin than you planned - were there enough television choices to help past your time or is everything pay for view?

Were your cabins ready when you boarded - after your visit to the WJ? Time?

Thanks so much for your help

  2. Just returned from the Med and stayed in Barcelona - ATM was so easy until one day - no longer was able to access. Had forgotten to call the bank (ATM) and alert them that I would be out of the country. Yes they called the house to inquire- not there so that was no help. Interesting because I had gotten a letter from the bank before I left just a general reminder that no longer do you have to call with a travel alert - evidently that only applied to credit card and not ATM - I had purchased money before I left but the exchange rate was better with the ATM and also a credit card that does not charge a foreign transaction fee.

We did leave money in our safe in Barcelona and yes you do have to watch for pickpockets (as everywhere) but as long as you remain diligent with your personal belongings - fantastic city - Enjoy

  3. We will be disembarking the Solstice in Honolulu on 10/5/14 - from last years cruisers - anyone remember the time you can actually disembark the ship (not carry carrying off our luggage)?

Also the private limo company we are using - said we need to "walk out and meet them" any idea of exact distance that is and if the porters will take our luggage there?

    Thank you as always

  4. Thank you all for your quick replies - always great information -

When receiving the coffees - do you each have to show your card - or will they accept one (very bad about carrying mine) - same thing at the cocktail hour - do they check each of our cards each time we go?

    Thanks again -

  5. Have read through the online list of what now is included if you are Elite Plus - but have a few questions and would appreciate any help -

In regards to "complimentary cappuccinos, latte, espressos" - is this everywhere on the ship or one location? Unlimited?

Evening cocktail hour - what exactly is served - set drinks or can order what you prefer?

200 internet minutes - can this be applied to a larger package

"Coffee house breakfast"? what is included - last year on Solstice it was listed as simply - continental breakfast and was held in the Silk Harvest Restaurant.

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated - Thank you as always -

  6. Have also used it and no problems - except the "Auto Stop" it did not stop and was billed again the following month - did call into ATT and they did credit back - but would in the future just add that to my "To Do Upon Return" and call ATT and make sure it is removed.

    Have a wonderful cruise!

  7. Thank you so much for your help - now re-considering the idea of the car from the hotel - it might be easier to simply do a taxi? Concerned that if it is this large - might just be easier to do a taxi - if there are porters that will take the luggage out to the taxis - any thoughts? Appreciate your taking the time to respond.

  8. We will be arriving in Hong Kong at Ocean Terminal next month (Crystal Symphony) - the hotel is sending a car and driver and they want to know "where to meet us"

Having never been there do not know if anyone has a suggestion as to where one comes out of the terminal - or advice as to meeting place. Also is it pretty organized and easily done to get a porter and luggage - again any help and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

  9. Received email back from Vu stating that Stephen is the manager of the company and he (Vu) "is on staff" - Maybe since we are only looking for some day tours and only two of us - that is why Vu is handling it - so far he has responded very well and if I am correct - Stephen was not the driver/guide - so am hopeful that with all your recommendations for the company that all will work out.

Any other advice or suggestions - please let me know and thank you again for all those who responded.

  10. We will be on a cruiseship and had contacted Vietnam Private Tours last week and "Vu" responded and said he would be following through with our request.. I know that you that have used this company mention Stephen - any thoughts on Vu? Thank you for any help -

  11. Thank you for your information - I thought just like you - that it would be after the elections and very surprised - received another note from the private tour company and they are "shocked" as they would not have expected this at this time.

The new itinerary includes a day on Koh Samui,Thailand and Sihanoukville, Cambodia (which was never my intent) and then has also added additional day in Ho Chi Minh City - so instead of 3 days there - we will now be 4 in Ho Chi Minh City and also stop in Chan May.

This will really be hard to accept if all other cruises continue to make the stop - so please do post and appreciate your time. Enjoy your cruise!

  12. I was so disappointed to learn today from my travel agent that our ship Crystal Symphony sailing 3/26 will not be overnighting 3/30-3/31 for Bangkok due to the fact that the Thai government declared a 60-day state of emergency and the US State Department issued a Travel Alert- thus they have cancelled this major stop.

I contacted the tour operator that was to have picked us up from port of Laem Chabang for our tour and then we were overnighting in Bangkok and he felt that this was not justified at this time. He had reported that recently Celebrity and Holland America had been in port and Bangkok and had encountered no problems.

I think I am very surprised that they would make this major change 2 months before arrival and before the election 2/2 would have hoped they would have waited at least until 30days prior - but of course safety of the passengers is of the utmost concern. So Bangkok is not to be - has anyone else found this with upcoming cruises?

  13. Thank you for the offer of help - my grandmother was born in Stockholm in 1888 and came to the US later - do you know of any place in Stockhom where there might be a record of her birth or her passage?

We have found several about the same ages listed at Ellis Island - but thought it would be interesting to see if there was any listing of birth there.

Thank you so much - I look forward to visiting your beautiful city.
