Help, please. Sailing from Southampton next March.
Bloodgem replied to Lady Bordeaux's topic in UK Cruisers
Hi welcome to CC (Cruise Critics) I live about 190 miles from Southampton and always travel down the day before. I don't want the stress of travelling down the same day in case of road closures due to accidents. If you could post the name of the ship we can give more specific advice, about parking, as Southampton has different terminals for different cruise lines. Check out the Ports of Call section of CC for advice about the ports you will be visiting: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/8-europe/ -

I'm just wondering if you can hear people playing golf after 11pm, I am assuming you can play golf in the night. Thanks -

Best and Worst Ships for wheelchair users
Bloodgem replied to gptraveler's topic in Disabled Cruise Travel
Royal Caribbean has various ships with accessible cabins that are suitable for 3 people. We are a family of 3 and need an accessible cabin with a sofa bed. These are the ships we have sailed on Adventure; Anthem; Explorer; Independence and Navigator. Space in cabins can vary, we find it helps to be adaptable. For example we have asked for coffee tables to be removed from the cabin. -
I think Heidi may have taken lessons from the Polish 2014 Eurovision entry.

Did RC honor your special needs/special requests?

We have never had our requests honored. -
First time cruising in an electric wheelchair.
Bloodgem replied to northernlights3's topic in Disabled Cruise Travel
Hi and welcome to CC (Cruise Critics). We always sail Royal Caribbean out of Southampton and never had a problem. We do spend a night in a hotel before we board the ship to avoid the stress of driving down the same day. If you want to book an accessible cabin you need to book early as they sell out quickly. You could try asking about the weight limit on the Fred Olsen Forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/355-fred-olsen-cruise-line/ Hope you get an answer soon. -
Southampton - Holiday Inn vs Premiere Inn
Bloodgem replied to MagnoliaBlossom's topic in British Isles/Western Europe
Premier Inn West Quay does not have it's own car park. You have to park on the Multi Storey car park, which is next to the hotel. -
Hi and welcome to CC (Cruise Critics). General boarding a ship with a wheelchair/scooter is fairly easy unless you are using a tender. On most ships staff are willing to either push the wheelchair or drive the scooter up/down the gangway. It would help if you could post the ports you are thinking about, as there may be other things you may need to consider. For example some European ports have cobbles or the port is quite a distance from the city, you are visiting.

You did better than I did. I quit during episode 2. The show started to irritate me during episode 1 by insisting they were sailing out of Rome and that the port was only a short drive from Rome. I thought Civitavecchia was about 50 miles from Rome and it normally takes about 1 hour to drive from Rome to Civitavecchia -
Excursion Availability British Isles
Bloodgem replied to bkerber's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Have you checked out the British Isles/Western Europe forum on CC for some ideas about possible excursions? https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/148-british-isleswestern-europe/ -
I'm not sure if this will help but FerryGoGo shows ferry routes, if you decide to use a ferry to get to the UK. https://ferrygogo.com/ferry-to-uk-from-netherlands/

The cabin steward may have a food allergy or a medical condition like diabetes. Diabetics can eat chocolate but they have to be careful about how much they eat and how often they eat chocolate. As we mainly cruise around Europe we leave our usual tip in $ and if we think the cabin steward deserves extra we leave some Euros, so the next time they go ashore they can buy what they want without having to get some Euros.

Cruise Excursion British Pounds Only and Shared Excursion
Bloodgem replied to teaka5's topic in British Isles/Western Europe
From their website: Tour Payment We only request a small £100 per day tour deposit paid via online invoice that we will email the client. They can pay with a credit or debit card for groups of 8 people or less. This will also have a small admin charge of 3% to 5% added. The tour balance is then paid on the day of the actual tour itself upon meeting your guide first thing in cash British pounds only. Have you paid a deposit? I don't know what others think but personally £100 is not a small amount. -
