Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Last October, as part of a 3 night pre-cruise package, we were booked by Regent into the Divani Caravelle. Other than the very nice rooftop pool, bar and restaurant, the hotel was mediocre at best. Once onboard Voyager we ran into people who were booked by Regent in the King George. I believe this was for those staying in Concierge level suites and above who receive a free night prior to embarcation.
  2. Thanks for that informative post. We are doing the same itinerary in 2025. Coming from the NYC area we also anticipate a stopover on the West coast. I would ask though if your domestic leg was booked by Regent in Business class or Economy? And, what carrier will you fly to Hong Kong? Hope you have a great trip.
  3. We just finished 22 nights on Voyager. The ship is somewhat dated in decor and you will notice a few smudges here and there. But, the ship and our cabin were maintained in a spotless condition. The staff was extremely attentive across the board. Our Concierge class cabin had plenty of storage. We were somewhat aft of midship on deck 8 and we did experience some vibration at times but nothing overly distracting. The Wi-Fi was horrible, however. On a daily basis we had to go to a central common area on the ship to pick up our emails. I understand this problem will be addressed in the near future. As noted above, we would not hesitate to book on Voyager if the itinerary was one that was of interest.
  4. We will be on this cruise as well, along with the pre-cruise land tour. We were last in Israel and Egypt 16 years ago (very interested in seeing how Cairo may have changed) and I recall tipping with dollars. I’m sure euros will be fine as well. We did buy some souvenirs with dollars and always got change back in local currency. Hope you all have a good trip over.
  5. Ditto on the above response regarding our 7 night itinerary on Edge in May. The atmosphere, food and service were excellent in Luminae. Also we had very good service from the staff in The Retreat. Hope you enjoy.
  6. For information purposes re Regent flight deviations, this was our experience for flights from NYC area to Athens and a return from Rome on an October voyage. Our first choices, given to our TA, was for non stop flights to and from JFK. Regent offered us a flight from JFK to Athens, non stop, on Delta/Virgin with a charge for the deviation and an additional $3,000 pp. Alternatively, Regent offered a United non stop from EWR with no charge beyond the deviation fee. We accepted. On the return from FCO we asked for the Delta non stop to JFK We did not want to return to EWR. We were offered the Delta flight for an up charge of the deviation fee and $1300 pp. We accepted this. This process was completed in 2 days. Regent Air told our TA we could avoid the deviation fee and any upcharge by accepting either an Air Canada flight coming or going with a change in Montreal (very short layover). Or, a Swiss Air flights with a change in Zurich (also a very short layover). We priced out the flights we have arranged to learn the cost if we booked the same on our own. The price came out to $6,500+ pp. In the end we go to and from in Business class non stop flights for approx. $1500 pp.
