  1. We did our first river cruise last autumn, Oct '23. I researched extensively looking at cost pp/nt and settled on Emerald Cruises, owned by Scenic and their lower priced brand! We did the Sensations of Lyon & Provence, 7 nights, from Lyon to Marseille, booked through our local TA after researching. Flights, transfers, gratuities and excursions included; there are some extra paid for excursions but we were more than happy with the included trips. Most of the brands that I looked at had a similar layout of decks, ie. three - lower deck at water level with a ceiling level window, mid deck with balcony / infinite veranda style and upper deck with balcony and some larger suites. We sailed mid deck. Food was excellent... buffet style breakfast and lunch with waiter service for dinner. One main restaurant with lighter meals /snacks at lunch in the upper bar area. We had a fantastic time on our cruise and loved all the ports we visited. Booked on another river cruise with Viking for next December, Christmas on the Rhine, Amsterdam to Basel.
  2. Yes the upgrade is often discounted... I've done it for my March 2025 cruise. currently showing for me today @ £8.86 per guest per day, which is 35% discount!
  3. This is what I'm seeing too ( sailing next March also ) however no link for an evening menu, that's if there is a separate one from the lunch menu...
  4. Thanks for your responses... it does look like LPC is offered 6 nights on my 10 night cruise and Bistro menu for the other evenings. I was just intrigued as to why no charge shows if booking LGB through manage My Celebrity Cruise.
  5. Currently looking at booking dining for our first Celebrity cruise next March. I am aware that Le Grand Bistro doubles as Le Petit Chef and have already booked that for one evening. Today I see that Le Grand Bistro is available to book for several evenings during our cruise and the booking cost is £0...! Does anyone know if this is a special offer at no charge or if I book can I expect to be charged on the evening in question?
  6. Hi, this is an extract from the email I received form P&O about linking bookings: "Thank you for getting in touch with your question about linking your booking. In order for travel companions to link their bookings, we provide a 3 digit code, known as a TWID code to all bookings that wish to be linked. This code is applied to bookings where the guests are family and/or friends and they wish to travel and dine together. TWID enables us to seat the party together at the same table, in the same restaurant at the same dining time. (Please note we cannot guarantee that linked bookings will be allocated the same dining choice and/or time or that cabins are in close proximity of each other. Bookings made under the P&O Cruises Select Fare will be given priority when tables are allocated.) Please note, the link function is for standard dining purposes only, and does not affect the following: - Cabin Allocation or relative position. - Embarkation times - please be aware should all wish to embark as a party, you should aim for the LATEST time in the group. - Pre-booking of shore experiences - you would all have to book individually through My Cruise and then link when on board. - Pre-booking of specialty dining - you would all have to book individually through My Cruise and then link when on board. - Entertainment - you would all have to book individually through My Cruise and link once on board" I have been give a 3 digit code that has been applied to both of my family bookings and will use to link once on board. Hope this helps.
  7. On our first cruise with Celebrity next year we have a late ( 18.15hrs ) flight from Miami and have booked an excursion that day that culminates in a drop off at MIA. I have copied details and it is currently on flash sale with 30% off... Overview Find out why Fort Lauderdale has been dubbed the Venice of America, as you journey by land and sea to discover the gems of this charming city, first on a scenic drive with several stops, and then on a custom riverboat. Highlights Board your bus and begin your adventure with a fantastic drive along the beachfront. Stop at a viewpoint and have the chance to take off your shoes and feel the soft sand and cool water, probably one of the most amazing landscapes in Fort Lauderdale. Stop by the Elbo Room, a beautiful bar and landmark that is sure to dazzle you. Continue to Las Olas Blvd., where you can stroll down the famous pedestrian-friendly streets, browsing the local boutiques, shops, and art galleries. Next, arrive at downtown Fort Lauderdale’s New River Docks, where a custom riverboat takes you on a narrated boat ride as you spot million-dollar yachts and mega-homes in this affluent part of the city. Maybe even spot a celebrity! At the end of your time soaking in the sun, sea, and sites, your drive brings you to the Miami International Airport for your departure flight.
  8. I use Halifax Clarity credit card and Starling debit card... MoneySavingExpert always has an up to date web page on top travel cards, credit and debit.
  9. A TA crossing on QM2 was on my 'bucket list' and so I booked early for a December 2022 crossing and was thrilled when I discovered it was the Literature Festival At Sea! Attended so many great insight lectures / talks, etc. Loved it! My husband and I also signed up for some of the workshops, etc. that had limited numbers and I certainly do not remember there being any charge for these.
  10. Yes... I do get where you’re coming from. We wouldn’t sail Cunard again but thoroughly enjoyed the Literature Festival... some great guest speakers.
  11. Avid readers? You would probably love The Literature Festival @ Sea on Cunards Queen Mary 2, a 7 night transatlantic crossing... usually November time.
  12. Thank you so much for your reply... so might be a good idea to pack something 'smart casual' in our hand luggage 😀...thanks
  13. Good evening... first time on Viking! On Jupiter, Ancient Adriatic Treasures, sailing April 2024, and getting excited! Our flight from London arrives @ 15.55hrs and I wonder if any of you seasoned Viking cruisers can tell me how long Viking transfers take from airport to the ship in Choggia? I've booked dining for 19.30 hours and I'm thinking that I may have to reschedule. Thanks.
  14. Thank you for posting this... booked WiFi for autumn cruise 😊
  15. We have sailed out of Southampton on several different cruise lines over the past two years and can recommend CPS, on site at Southampton, for car parking if you are sailing with Princess, P&O or Cunard... these are the cruise lines that CPS deal with. ABP is another on site company that we have used for parking if you are sailing with Celebrity, Fred Olsen, MSC, NCL, Royal Caribbean or Saga. Car parking is bookable online, in advance, with either of these companies. We always travel down the day before, staying overnight locally. Holiday Inn on Herbert Walker Avenue, Southampton is so convenient and budget friendly but have also splurged on the Southampton Harbour Hotel for a very special occasion!
