Hi, we are booking our first transatlantic for next October 7 on the Rotterdam. Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale. I was hoping someone could shed some light on veranda cabins. We are considering deck 8 midship, port side or deck 4 aft with extended balcony also port. Is there a difference in sides (port or starboard) or in decks when you are on a transatlantic? We like the sun so we were thinking port would be south facing on the crossing. Any suggestions would be welcome.Thanks,

Thank you for the information, I certainly have to check the deck plan further. We are planning a transatlantic for next Fall and wanted to be able to have a roomy veranda to enjoy the crossing.

We are considering a deck 4 veranda cabin on the Rotterdam towards the aft. It seems that the balconies on those cabins look a lot larger than the normal veranda balcony. Can anyone comment if this is indeed the case? Thanks.

Already tried to cancel, there is a $200 fee .... each person. Still have no outbound seats, but not giving up. Hoping we can get seats at check in and not at the gate. Thanks to everyone for the help though.

This was very enlightening, thanks. Yesterday, after getting nowhere with Delta, I called ITA. They couldn't do seat selection either. So I said, then I guess we have to wait for online check in to pick our seats. I was then told that there is no online check in. Check in will be done at the gate the day of the flight! So we will be heading down to Miami with a hope and a prayer and no idea if we are getting on a plane. It really is the Wild West out there.

It was an economy seat, not sure that mattered because we were able to do seat selection on the flight home with Brussels Air operated by Air Canada. Both legs are economy, one you can do selections one you cannot.

Wow, so I have the Delta booking code and , of course it is not the ITA code. Found the ITA code and I am online now trying to get the seat selection. Worse case, I'll call direct. Thanks to all for the help.

We were told that we had to be ticketed to select seats, so we did pay for our tickets. Even though we knew they would be non-refundable it made us feel better to be able to select our seats. And yes, a significant savings by using FBC.

Hopefully we will have the same outcome as you did. Thanks for sharing. I like to have all my travel plans set, not comfortable with the unkowns.

You are correct, it is operated by Delta but really ITA. We did not see anything when we first booked with FBC that said seat selection not included. Maybe we missed it. But what happens when you get to the gate? are there seats?

No it is really ITA operated by Delta. But they should still let you select a seat. We were able to select on the return flight which is Brussels Air operated by Air Canada.
