Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I often travel with my daughter(Diamond +) and mom(Diamond) separately so am very happy with added benefit. The last cruise I was on the Crown lounge was full every night and the concierge lounge empty but my daughter was not allowed in with me 😢 so we just went to a bar.
  2. I order sorbet every night. It is not on the menu but always available. The waitstaff typically do not know what flavor is being served each night and it does change.
  3. I am on the Radiance and the shower gel/shampoo in the dispenser is the exact same as the “upgraded” shower gel/shampoo in the small bottles!
  4. I wanted to book a solo cruise but the website indicated “sold out” but I could book for 2 passengers. I called Royal and asked if I could make a booking for 1. They charged me as if I was booking for 2 minus the port fees and taxes for the second passenger which is the same as if I had booked for 2 with a no show second passenger. The bonus is I get the double points. It does pay to call. I had to call twice. The first agent said no but I was lucky on the second call.
  5. Thank you so much for your kind words. I will share them tomorrow with the team. Enjoy your cruise.
  6. I posted this on a different thread but thought I would repost here as well. “I am an avid cruiser and work at the Vancouver Cruise Ship Terminal as part of my post-retirement life. Sundays are the busiest day of the week at the terminal because of the number of ships in port. Throughout the year there are other 3 ship days which can be equally busy especially if the ships are larger. Be prepared for lots of people but if you follow the signs, as us for directions and tune out the noise(if you can!) it is a very organized process. If your priority is to get on the ship as early as possible then arrive at the terminal at 9:30 - 10 am but be aware that the bag drop area may not yet be open because the staff are still busy getting the bags off the ships. So you will need to wait but the line at this time will be short! Absolutely print your tags and attach them to your bags before you arrive. Most hotel front desks have staplers. I highly recommend you use theirs to attach your tags. The lines at security and US Customs get longer during late morning-early afternoon so if your priority is not to be one of the first on the ship then enjoy the day in Vancouver and come after 2 pm but be forewarned there may still be line ups. You can drop your bags and check in first then come back later. One of the biggest complaints I hear is that when guests arrive at the terminal and see an extremely crowded and noisy environment that looks chaotic they assume it is but there is order in the chaos (at least most of the time lol). The entire journey from bag drop to walking on the ship requires a lot of walking which many guests are unprepared for. This coupled with the line ups can be very challenging for many. So if you do have mobility issues request a wheelchair. As stated earlier you may have to wait for one but your check in journey will be more comfortable and shorter. Pack your patience, a water bottle and snack if you do encounter line ups and have a wonderful cruise.” Additional comment: When debarking in Vancouver the line for taxis can also be very long. If you heading to the airport and are able to wheel your luggage for a few blocks taking the Canada Line train may be significantly faster and cheaper.

  8. I often cruise without my husband so have many more points than he does. I will reach Pinnacle level later this year. Will he also be granted Pinnacle status with me? If not, do we get 2 free cruises. 1 for me in 2023 and another when he reaches Pinnacle(700 points)?
  9. I work at Canada Place and definitely can confirm that there are long lines at security and US customs but this is typically only on Sundays when several ships are in port. If you plan your check in for early in the morning or later in the afternoon closer to the ship departure time you will not have to wait in long Iines.
  10. I doing side by side sailings on Vision - Liberty-Brilliance in March/April 2023. Is there a shuttle that I can take from ship to ship?
  11. This will not work to board a ship in Vancouver because it does not have the vaccine details I.e date of each dose, type of vaccine. There is no QR code reader at checkin at the pier in Vancouver.
  12. Happens frequently these days unfortunately. Every shift I work at the pier guests arrive with no luggage and bags full from last minute shopping sprees 😢
