  1. @summer slopeOh my! So happy to hear that you have no injuries. I'm sure you will feel more aches tomorrow...take care. Karen
  2. @ger_77Thanks for sharing your blanket pictures! They are beautiful! 🤗 Do you have Project Linus in Canada? Our quilt group gives to them. They go to children in need, sick or otherwise in trauma. Our 7 year old DGD made a quilt top. Grandma is finishing it...she asked if it could go to a child that doesn't have a blanket!🥰
  3. Good afternoon from a rainy day in Wisconsin. The 5 inches of snow from last week has melted. Our crocuses that were buried are now looking good! Such sad news from Baltimore, prayers for the victims and first responders that are working there. Prayers and good thoughts for all that need them and cheers for those celebrating.
  4. @ger_77Thanks for the pictures. They look like a bigger version of Pocket Prayer Quilts I made a few years ago. karen
  5. Good afternoon from a chilly Wisconsin. A lot of the snow from the other day has melted, the buried crocuses are now visible again but they look "poorly." I'll take shrimp tacos, who wants to make them for me? I think we're having salmon tonight. Friday night we saw Mary Poppins Jr. at our church school. The kids did a great job! The songs have been in my head all weekend! ☺️ I went to a quilt show yesterday. The quilts were beautiful, but they were all way beyond my ability to do! @ger_77I'd also like more info about your coasters. Last month our quilt group shared "ugly" fabric...we need to make something with it, and then our names will be entered in a drawing for a quilt to be long-armed by our longarmer! @dfishthanks for the recipes, I hope River feels better quickly and nobody else gets it. @JazzyVPrayers that your surgery helps! DH got a kit from amazon before his THR. He also got some slip on shoes, those have been great. The sock-aid was something that helped a lot, especially if you have to wear compression stockings for a while. @RedneckBobHave a wonderful cruise! Have a good rest of the day, and Yay, Marquette University won again today. They go to the sweet 16! 🏀 Karen
  6. Very sad to read about the explosion and the Princess and her cancer diagnosis. Prayers for all of them...
  7. Happy Friday! We're getting snow here, 6 inches so far. It's supposed to snow for a while yet. We can "goof off" today, nothing to do till later. The plan is to take our DGD's to see Mary Poppins Jr. at our school tonite. Hoping the roads will be ok by then. DH is watching basket ball games again today, I'll be happy when March Madness is done!! We stopped in Falmouth a few years ago. We did get off the ship and wander around the port area. Lots of fun stuff to look at. We sat for a while in the little garden area that was there, and enjoyed the scenery. We were in Jamaica years ago and did Dunns River Falls, when I look at those pictures now I think "oh my!" Our daffodils are blooming and covered with snow today. The area in our front yard is covered with snow, the ones in the back are more sheltered. @JazzyVhoping you hear good things at the Dr. today. Sorry to hear about all of the fire victims...sad. @cat shepardgreat news that your sister can be discharged. Following through with the exercise can be a challenge, I know from experience with family members. @dfishthanks for the recipes, hoping your sister makes it to pick up River. Your weather will be what we have today. Schools didn't get cancelled, and the plows seem to be keeping up with it. The roads were bad this morning, but reports are better now. Thanks to all who care and share here! K
  8. @Haljo1935What do I know about Down Syndrome? I don't personally know anyone with Down Syndrome, but I follow 3 moms on "The Gram" that have children with DS. One started her page to help other families getting that diagnosis. She said they were so scared, but when they saw their DS at birth, their world changed for the better. He is a blessing to their family, especially his teenage sisters! They all love him so much, and their lives are better now than before! She is so positive about their life and how things are OK, even though he has DS. A family at our church has a little girl with San Filippo syndrome---it's like Alzheimers but in children. She's 4, but already very delayed in her development, but, she it such a pleasure to be around, and she always has a smile on her face. Even with disabilities, they are still special to all around them! I guess that's what I'd say---we are all special in our own way!
  9. Good morning friends. We had a bad start to the day, Cooper woke us up barking at 5 am...let him outside, he had lots of diarrhea, came back in to find more 💩 in his bed. Poor pup. He had a bath, bedding is washed and he seems to be fine now. Today is also Rock Your Socks Day, 3-21, World Down Syndrome Day. "On 21 March, choose some socks that are going to get noticed! They might be mismatched socks or your craziest and most colorful socks, whatever takes your fancy! The idea is to start a conversation, so when people ask you about your socks you can tell them, “I’m wearing them to raise awareness of Down syndrome”. And then you can tell them everything you want them to know about Down syndrome". Here are my socks! I made these a few years ago with a sock loom. I know how to knit, but scarves are my specialty! I'm not sure about the meal, drink or wine today. Haven't been to the port. Thanks for all of the pictures. Prayers for all who need them, and cheers for the rest. K
  10. Happy Wednesday, it's in the 30's here...the forecast is for wet, heavy snow on Friday. Maybe 3-4 inches. That kind of snow caused lots of power outages here in January. The trees are budding and lots of bulbs are blooming, hoping they survive the snow! Today is my "busy" day. Reading buddies at school this morning, and then back again for sewing with our 6th graders. Last week they finished their pillowcases and today we start on a coin purse. They are all doing a great job! This weekend the school is doing a performance of Mary Poppins Jr. I'm excited to see that! @JazzyVsorry to hear that your pain has returned. hoping your team can find a solution! @dfishThe recipes look good today! @marshhawksorry to hear about your DH's jaw problems, hoping the pain can be controlled. Have a great day, prayers for all who need the, and cheers for the rest! Karen
  11. Greetings from a chilly, windy day in Wisconsin! Happy St. Patrick's day.☘️ We had corned beef and cabbage at DD & DSIL's house last night. Ours is cooking in the slow cooker today. No cabbage today though. We'll be having some Guinness along with it!🍻 Thanks for all of the pictures and posts today. Happy Anniversary to @irishjim Bon Voyage to those sailing today! I wonder what it was like on Half Moon Cay with 2 big ships there yesterday. Our local High School marching band and choir were in New York this week for the parade and festivities. The choir sang in St. Patrick's Cathedral. Enjoy the rest of your day, K
  12. We were on Nieuw Statendam in February, there was a cake day...didn't get any pictures. The one I tried was delicious! There were also special cakes for the Super Bowl party!
  13. Good afternoon and happy anniversary to the daily! What a nice place to be...I feel like I've travelled the world through all of you! DH got a great report at his Dr. visit yesterday. He can do activities as tolerated. Cooper is feeling better today after his boosters on Thursday. He's turning 12 at the end of the month and his lab reports are all stable, good news. Bon Voyage to @Crazy For Cats @RedneckBob and @Suslor, Enjoy your cruises! @dfishThanks for the recipes, the chicken looks good, but we don't have an air fryer. @cruising sisterThanks for sharing the picture of Murphy! She looks wonderful and is ready for the holiday festivities tomorrow! ☘️ @Nickelpennywelcome home and congrats on your good cruise! Thanks to all, see you tomorrow, K
  14. So glad to hear you are going to be able to cruise again! Enjoy your time, and thank you for sharing your adventure with us!
  15. Good morning from a dreary day in Wisconsin. We had rain all day yesterday, and at times, it was a drenching rain. We don't have our rain gauge out yet, but there was a lot of rain! Poor Cooper, our dog had his yearly vet visit also. He had his vaccine updates, and I think he's feeling achey this morning from them. Vet says he's underweight and should eat more...that's a challenge. DH has his 2 week follow up with the PA after his hip replacement. He continues to do well! Thanks for the reporting and sharing here. My mom always made the sweet potatoes with marshmallows...we make them with just a bit of butter and brown sugar now. The recipes look good! I didn't get to read yesterday, but cheers and hugs to all! karen
  16. Good evening, I had a busy day today. @grapau27Happy Birthday to your dear Pauline. I'm sure you and Sarah made her day special.
  17. Good morning... Thanks for all of the info shared here. Haven't been to the port, not sure about the meal today, and I'm not a big wine drinker. A shout out to girl scouts, our two Grands have been busy selling cookies at the local grocery store. It was raining Friday night and they sold out of their cookies despite the fact that they were outside selling them. Maybe the buyers felt sorry for them! @NickelpennySo sorry to hear about Martina, remember your good days with her. Happy Birthday to @Quartzsite CruiserLenda and @Overhead FredMitzi! I have a busy day today, starting with an exercise class at 9! Haven't been in a few weeks because we were gone on our cruise and then DH has his surgery. We also skipped a week to avoid being exposed to possible "bugs" before the surgery. Now I have to gt back in the habit! Have a great day! Karen
  18. Good afternoon from a sunny, pleasant day in Wisconsin. We have 211 to call here if help is needed. I'll pass on the meal, haven't been to LA, and the start of the pandemic is something I won't ever forget. That was a very difficult time in my life...my father had started home hospice care, and I believe one of the people who came to their apartment had covid and spread it to my parents, my sister and I. She was "coughing up a lung" the whole time she was doing her intake work. My parents died 2 days apart from covid. Again, something I will never forget. I know several others who also died because of it. It's still out there for sure, but hopefully not as deadly now. @dfishHappy Birthday to your sister! @StLouisCruisersGood to hear your DGD has a new place to live, my best wishes to her. @smitty34877thinking good thoughts for your family! @kazuI saw some pictures yesterday of snow in your neck of the woods, oh my is all I can say! @ger_77thinking good thoughts for your DH today... Enjoy the rest of your day, Karen
  19. Good afternoon! I don't like changing the clocks, seems like the older I get, the longer it takes my body to adjust to the new time. Thanks for all of the pictures today, we were to the Holy Land in 2008. At the end of the trip we went to Cairo and then to Luxor. My pictures are like the ones shared today. We saw the museum, went to the pyramids and then to the sphinx. I don't remember any gift shops! I do remember the armed guards that traveled with us. The trip was with one of our pastors and a group from church. He was planning another trip this year, but that won't be happening. Have a good rest of the day, karen
  20. Good morning from a sunny day here. It's in the 40's but the weather experts say we will have 60's again next week! I like my fanny packs, thanks for sharing the port pictures, and @dfishthanks for the recipes, they look good today! My sympathies to your family @grapau27. Sarah, you and Pauline are in my prayers. Have a great day, hugs to those that need them, and cheers to those cruising or celebrating! Karen
  21. Happy Friday, it's in the 40's and going to rain all day today. I'll celebrate Women's Day, but not "be nasty" day. Not sure about the soup, but I'd take the chocolate peanut clusters. @marshhawksorry to hear about the cost of your medications, such a sad situation. @kazube careful outside today! We're still having a very mild winter here. The robins are back and the bulbs are coming up. Thanks to all who share and care here...I love all of the port photos! We have a quiet weekend, DH is still doing well after his hip replacement. He may have overdone it the other day, but is taking it easier now...he didn't listen to me! LOL! Have a good day and a wonderful weekend, Karen
  22. Happy Monday, it's in the 50's here, but cloudy today. @ger_77wow, that's a lot of snow to deal with, be safe! @JazzyVThanks for including DH on the care list! He's continuing to do well! @rafinmdThinking about you and your Dr. visit today. @ottahand7Blessings on your procedure today. The pictures today look amazing, sounds like a great place to visit! I'll take the sweet potato fries, but no air-fryer here. We have a Pulaski High School here. Milwaukee was a place for many Polish immigrants back in the day. Have a good day, karen
  23. Happy Sunday, another very nice day here! I'm looking at robins and bulbs coming up. @ger_77sorry to hear about your bad weather...be safe, and thanks for helping your neighbors. I'm seeing lots of snow in the California mountains also. I'm happy to hear that Baby Murphy is home from the hospital, good for her and her family! @0106Bon voyage, we've been home for 2 weeks, and I wish I could go back! I'm being a "caregiver" for DH. He had a hip replacement on Thursday. I'm surprised how easy this recovery has been, not much pain, was up 1 hour after surgery and dc'd from the hospital 24 hours post surgery. He's walking around just fine with a walker and hardly taking any pain meds! Praying that it stays this easy! Thanks for all of the pictures today, have a good rest of your day! Karen
  24. Happy Saturday! It's in the 50's and sunny here, another nice day! Just went for a little walk outside to enjoy the sun🌞 I rescued a kitten many years ago. She lived a happy life here! Blessings to all who need them and cheers to all cruising or celebrating. Karen
  25. Good afternoon from a sunny, but cold day here. We hit a record 73F yesterday. It was 18 when I got up this morning with a dusting of snow on the grass. Around 8 pm there were bad thunderstorms going through, but I read there was very bad weather closer to Chicago. Today is also National Tooth Fairy Day. Several of my Reading Buddies had loose or missing teeth this morning! Thanks for all of the photos, sharing and caring here. Good thoughts and prayers for all who need them and cheers for the rest! I'm off to our 6th grade sewing class now. It's our 1st session, next week we start making a pillowcase. Have a good rest of the day, K
