Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. No porters when we cruised out of Miami last November and January. We did the brightline on the January cruise and it was no issue. We were staying downtown the night before the cruise and booked transport through brightline to the hotel then the hotel had a shuttle for $10 each. We fulltime RV in a 5th Wheel and have a dually truck taking that thing into downtown Miami last November was not fun hence why we did the Brightline.
  2. Get unlimited dining plans for all parties and go to any specialty restaurant on board. That is where you get the best experience.
  3. All cabins have the mini cooler. It you get the refreshment package it includes all but alcohol. You can also use it at cafe promenade for Starbucks branded coffees. The package does not work at the Starbucks kiosk.
  4. To elaborate a little further with our experience when my son broke his femur. As soon as he was out of surgery we talked to the orthopedic surgeon to find our if he had any issues with the cruise he said simply no have fun. My son did have physical therapy while still in the hospital and after he got out 3 times a week. Tell your mother that no matter how much that therapy may hurt she needs to work on it as hard as she can stand. My son did not work at the therapy and still has some mobility issues 5 years later mostly with ladders and stairs. The excursions we had to change were just to accommodate his mobility. As I mentioned he was still on a cane when we went on the cruise. Our cruise was on a different line and we even had to tender at Grand Cayman and the crew once they saw the cane had him sit in the handicapped section of the tender. Since it is Royal you probably do not have that worry. I would suggest a conversation with her medical professionals and see what they think. If she is cleared to go make sure she works hard with the PT and just have fun. I hope everything works out. Being that she is much older than my son was it may be more difficult he was 24 and broke the femur in a significant car crash so had other minor injuries as well but he is fine now. Good luck
  5. In 2018 my son broke his femur 6 weeks before our cruise. He had to have surgery to insert a rod from his knee up to his hip through the femur. We were worried about our cruise as well but his surgeon said it should not be a problem. He was still on a cane when we went on the cruise and other than changing a couple of excursions he went and had fun.
  6. We were on her in December of 21 and she was in good shape. We did a 5 day out of Galveston on her at less than half capacity for stupid cheap that we booked 8 days before the sailing. That was our first time on Adventure and I would not hesitate to sail on her again.
  7. LOL I saved over $600 in excursions, unlimited dining plan and drink packages on our 10 on Oasis in January. All of which had already been booked but were returned and rebooked during the sale. I keep a spreadsheet for all our cruises which list out exactly what I pay for everything so that I know when to cancel and rebook to save money.
  8. As long as the sales are at least 3 days before your sailing you are fine the cruise planner closes for purchases at 3 days prior to embarkation
  9. Staff was wonderful as always. The food was all good we had the unlimited dining plan but the only venues we did not eat at were the MDR and chefs' table. Entertainment is where I have several gripes. The venue where the comedians perform I believe is Blaze and there is a huge bar in the center of the room that blocks the view for half of the audience. The Aqua show just butchers all the great music they use and also play it at to high a volume. The ice show while the skaters were great the theme is just terrible. As for live acts around the ship there were few. Nightly there was a Latin band that was good, the only country singer they had on board was usually at the bar-b-que place could not sing but played the guitar ok. He was also too loud so much so it was hard to place your order for food. Besides the orchestra which was excellent the stowaway pianist was also great. We did not spend anytime in the jazz club or the schooner bar so I cannot comment on the acts in those spots.
  10. about a month out you can make your reservations. as stated you only really need them for ice and water shows. The comedian also needed reservations. I just got off Oasis yesterday after a 10 day
  11. On oasis right now with the refreshment package and UDP. We walked into Johnny Rocket's yesterday showed our card and asked for milkshakes. We were ushered in our order was taken and we received our shakes. No cover charge. Our sea pass cards were scanned and there was no charge. I've no idea how many or how often we could get them.
