Looking to book a flight into Trieste for a cruise. Most all of the flights have at least one plane change in the USA and then again in Frankfort Germany. The one in Frankfort is one hour. Would we have time to get to our new gate? Don't we have to stand in line to go through immigration/customs before boarding our flight into Italy? I can't find a longer layover in Frankfort without also getting a long layover in the USA, which is nuts.

For you regulars, this is my first trip to FP and I'm wondering what is the preferred airline to go from PPT to either LAX or SFO? Also wondering the time involved to go through customs at either? We'd have connecting flights however we go, so need to know how much time we need to allow for. Thank you!
