  1. Ship broke down in the Baltic Sea and had to be towed back to Kiel. Many passengers were from US and Carnival flew some back to Uk in time to get their flights back. They paid some standard compensation of one day, but for me I had to hassle them to get some of the money as I paid with two different credit cards and they split the repayment, but 'forgot' one of the card payments. It was a huge mess with 2-3 hour queues at Guest Services trying to find out how one could get home tec. Many of us left the ship with covid and I reckon I caught it in the crowded lines trying to get back to UK. We, as Brits, were a tiny monority.
  2. They departed Southampton a day late and were supposed to be going to the Netherlands (not in original itinerary) and they seem to have delayed that by going round in circles and arrive there, allegedly, in about 4 hours, when they could have saved the passengers being buffeted all day by going straight there. Incidentally, I know what the weather is like I live on the East coast of the UK and know someone onboard, but they are keeping quiet!
  3. Island princess appears to be going round in circles. Anyone have any information?
  4. Have you got your refund? Have y ou understood how they calculated it? Found out they have cheated me out of $300 on the prorated refund. Still, trying to get carnival to cough it up. Wonder how many more people have been cheated by them?
  5. Be careful if you have a repayable credit on you S&S card it is only paid by CHEQUE and NOT repaid to your CC. We had a credit by virtue of a tour being cancelled, was sent a dollar cheque which is difficult and costly to get rid of in the UK. That is apart from them also promising to return $300 for something else, which has never arrived. We were on the ill-fated Pride in July and still trying to sort out the financial mess that carnival gave to us. Promised refunds, but did not tell us how it was calculated, or where it might be paid and when disputed won't speak to us only to Tavel Advisor who had been told zilch and therefore not surprisingly objected.
  6. Flamingo available on MDR not sure if it's pink though, oir well done.
  7. Firstly jumbo I really did think that these boards belonged to cruise critic and that all threads were open to all registered on here, forgive me that you have some sort of private ownership. You don't believe that a massive organisation like this can have a rescue plan that they put into action. I assume that you were on that ship at the time and had first hand expereince of the ***** up they made. You don't believe that anyone is first of all bright enough to invent a system to prevent people needing to stand in long lines, sort of like giving them a numbered ticket and then calling the numbers, ah well if no one is bright enough to work that out what chance we got. Also no one worked out that telling people what they are doing to rescue the ship and where it has gotten to actually is helpful, but if yopu really care nothing for your passengers why bother. treat them like mushrooms, keep them in the dark and feed them manure or similar. It was said by the cruise director that flying people back to Uk was one option being considered, a plan would have worked out what WOULD happen WHGE not if this emergency happened. They were running around like headless chickens, I was just glad that the ship was not in any real danger of sinking or the Titanic would have had more survivors. They did not have a clue how to deal with the situation, how to deal with passengers, how to pass information in a useful and helpful way. YES A PLAN WOULD HAVE HELPED AND SOME TRAINING GIVEN TO THER STAFF, you telling me that major issues like this are rare so they cannot anticipate and plan for them. If so you are a joke. Yes I got home no thanks to Carnival and I think I might have a bit more experience of looking after myself I have had 79 years of practice. But abandoning elderly people and some looked frail in London as Carnival did with me and others was unforgivable and certainly will not be forgotten by me. Oh and by the way you can type a reply for anyone else who reads this thread, but don't worry i won't be reading it.
  8. Yes the Pride could have sunk like the Titanic, but other than that hard to think of anything else that could have been worse both on ship, transfer back to UK or communication since.
  9. We were not on a B2B but were on the ill-fated Pride cruise 9th July. Carnival might have done their best, but for a large multi-billion pound organisation failed miseably. One would expect that the company, togther with its 'sister' groups would have a smooth well rehearsed proceedure. But none of it. Long 2-3 hour lines at guest services, no other way of communicating and then the dreadful flights and delayts and mistakes. Carnival refuse to organise any transport back to Dover from the sirport for us, we had to try and do that ourselves. And don't get me started about any communication onboard or since the cruise. many of us still have no communicationb about how/when/if we are to be given the inadequate compensation. Never again.
  10. Just true at over 20 years old. Good luck to anone willing to risk sailing on her after this and yes I was onboard for the main event to show that it was ancient.
  11. That is not mentioned in the room descriptions, wonder if they try and pretend it is not a perk! This is what is said Exclusive Amenities Priority check-in, embarkation & debarkation Priority dinner reservations & main dining room time assignment Two complimentary large bottles of water Pillow-top mattresses Bathrobes
  12. Thanks all that clues me in. You might have gathered we are from UK, actually live about 8 miles away from Dover port.
  13. What are the speciality restaurants like/ Are they worthwhile/costs? Which bits are worth visiting on the ship that tend to get missed (some listed above). Is the MDR OK? Can one get coffee OK, with no kettle in the rooms can one fill a flask? How rigorous are they with buying alcohol off ship and bringing it back? Do they provide toileteries in the bathrooms? How many wear tuxes on elegant night, I know most ladies will usually dress up, usually it is we men that are the slobs! Though I like to wear a suit.Drinks do sound expensive, is that correct? What is the mix from UK/USA?other on cruises starting in UK? Anything else that strikes you that is unique to Carnival?Pride that one would benefit from knowing before boarding?
