  1. I still enjoy cruising very much, as do my children. But I think my children would enjoy any vacation LOL. We do theme parks a lot, so just staying for a weekend in a hotel is like a vacation to me because I don't have to scoop cat $h!t or vacuum up litter before I shower. But with cruising, I don't have to cook, all meals are already paid for, I don't have to drive, and I want to sit by the pool, play trivia, and gamble while my kids sleep or do something else, we can do that! And we never really have to worry about the weather bc there will still be things to do, and we won't be stuck in our room playing cards. I agree the new, big RC ships are super ridic in pricing. Some are more $$ than Disney. We are also within reasonable driving distance to almost all of the east coast ports. Yes, I get the drink package every time, but have you had an adult beverage from a theme park, resort, or vacation/time share club in the last 2-3 years? It's up to $11 for a BEER! $15+ if you want a cocktail. Plus poolside snack service. It adds up.
  2. I have something like this, but I don't have anywhere good to hang it. I can't get it to go around the shower head. Usually I hang it from that bottom part of the shower head where the adjustable showerhead lowers to, but it's a bit awkward. I don't think I would be able to reach it if hung from the ceiling. Is the ceiling in the shower also magnetic?
  3. I was just wondering this myself the other day. We are sailing on Horizon in 2024 as well, and I want somewhere to hang my shower supplies.
  4. This is what I do too because I cruise with my children while my husband stays home and goes to work, lol. Mine is a little shorter. I just found something online and recreated it in Word, and I change the dates and such every cruise. We do get it notarized because it's free at our credit union, and I figure it can't hurt. I have also never been asked for this, but we haven't cruised anywhere besides the Bahamas yet.
  5. That is what I am thinking as well - too tight. But those beds are shorter than normal twin sized beds. I still think I may try it when I board to see if they fit. Or at the very least bring a measuring tape. I would think this particular configuration would be able to have the beds push together if it were a couple and a child in the cabin, which would mean the night stands would have to move. In the YouTube video that I saw, the beds were against the wall just like in the picture I attached.
  6. If people keep removing auto-gratuities, the cruise lines just may change things to include in the price. Some restaurants already add 18-20% (maybe more in some places) gratuity to your bill if you have more than 6 people at your table. Some do it automatically just because. I am not saying you are wrong to remove them - you do you and what you feel is best for you and your cruising companions. I'm just saying it can change. Your servers may get tipped more than my servers. I do pay the auto gratuities, and on my next upcoming cruise my TA had a promotion where they paid it. So no need for me to remove them. But ... I do tip extra as I see fit. Always at the bar. Sometimes for the MDR. And the cabin attendant if s/he did more than the minimum (like bring me a bucket or 2 of ice everyday).
  7. I was on 3 cruises in 9 months in 2019/2020, and the Playlist Productions were all the same. By the time we got to cruise #3, we didn't even watch the Welcome Aboard Show. We are cruising on Horizon in March, and I expect all the Playlist shows to be the same as we saw in June of this year on Elation lol. However, the comedians do change fairly regularly, as well as the piano bar host. As others have already said, when given a choice, always a longer cruise. Have a great time!!
  8. This is going to sound really bizarre, but does anyone know the dimensions, length & width, of an interior cabin on Carnival Horizon? The particular cabin has 2 desks, one on either side, and right as you walk in, there are 2 beds (or one king) in the middle of the wall that is right in front of you. I am attaching a picture of the floor plan. I watched a YouTube video, and this is the layout of the cabin I will be in. I want to know if I can put the beds in an L-shape against the back wall (all the way left in 2nd attachment). There is a pullman bed as noted in my rendering (which is obviously not to scale).
  9. Does this mean you lost the typical first elegant night dinner menu? I am cruising over Easter 2024, and Easter Sunday should be our 1st elegant night (8 night, Sat-Sun, so 2nd night on board). So do you think it is possible that menu would be trumped by the Easter dinner menu? I'd much prefer the elegant night menu.
  10. Did the Thanksgiving dinner menu trump the traditional elegant night dinner menu? Or were both an option?
  11. I leave the auto gratuities, and I tip extra as I see fit. I tend to tip heavy in the beginning for bar service. If the room steward brings me ice as I ask, s/he will get extra at the end of the cruise. I tip the wait staff in the MDR a few bucks on the days we are eating in there, so if we eat on Lido, then there's no extra. Those that work in tipped positions do not make much base pay.
  12. This is the stupidest thing I've ever read. I get it's a prohibited item on board. But as someone else mentioned, so are scissors. How many people have small scissors in their bag on the daily and don't even think about it? Maybe she has an Rx for it. And if she does it's even more stupid. "Yes, you may bring Oxy on board no problem, but please leave your pain relieving gummy bears at home" *eye roll* Before people come at me, I am adding that I know most people don't have an Rx for it and just try to sneak it on. But many people do. Also adding that I am none of these people, but I do still have an opinion.
  13. Landsailing. We've never done it, but it looks pretty good. You can book through the ship or direct with the vendor. https://landsailingadventures.com/ I had emailed them earlier in the year about my sailing in March 2024, and the response was quick! Very detailed responses to my queries.
  14. I am looking for this info too!
  15. I am a huge fan of natural light, so I thought I would NEVER book an inside cabin. I found a good deal on Elation in June of this year and the timing was just right for school and my job. The only oceanview cabins that were available were reportedly loud/inconvenient/bad overall, so we booked an interior on deck 5 fwd. It was a quick walk up the stairs to the lobby bar (deck 7), and an okay walk up the stairs to main dining (deck 8). It was sooo quiet and soooo dark which really helped me sleep better. I typically sleep like crap, and moreso outside of my home, so the good sleep was well worth the little bit that I missed natural light. My next cruise I have an inside cabin on lido deck, and I am excited to be close to the food and slides.
  16. This sounds like a great system, but it entails everyone following the rules. When I was on Elation in June, the CD came on the speaker severallll times telling people not to crowd in the hallways or elevator vestibules. This was after he made several mentions the day before about how they call luggage tag numbers/deck #'s, etc, and that is when you can head to deck 7 to debark. We had FTTF, so we could leave anytime. We were heading out of the cabin just before 8:30 and we going to go to Lido for bfast and wait to head out since we only had a short drive home. He ended up calling our deck # to head down to deck 7, but of course, everyone was crowding the hallways and such. Could not get an elevator, so we took the stairs. People were blocking those too, and it was very difficult, and we had some carry-off luggage (most was checked, but we had some rolling bags with leftover drinks and stuff). We got to deck 7 and the line to disembark was wrapped around the lobby twice. I managed to get the attention of a crew member to let them know we had FTTF, and we were able to go through the queue rope where they were sending anyone in a wheelchair/walker/needing assistance. I sure hope it goes fleetwide and everyone follows the rules!! It does sound like a great system to an otherwise always chaotic experience.
  17. I didn't get any on Elation in June. I had to pick them up from the coffee shop every morning. I didn't realize the cabin steward would bring one if asked. I will do that next time.
  18. Would you mind sharing a creditable source for this information?
  19. Please don't do that. Their tp sucks because regular tp will damage the pipes.
  20. You can still disconnect and stay away from the rest of the world with a cell phone in your pocket. I use mine for a camera. And obviously the MDR menu. And an alarm clock. Sometimes music that I have in my phone's storage. Doesn't mean you have to catch up on what's going on back home or "in real life".
  21. It's easier for me to read a menu from my phone because I can zoom lol
  22. So with the exception of the last item, rudeness/not having manners. The stairs thing irks me too. You see coming, in my heels holding the handrail, but sure, I'll move over because you don't know left from right.
