I should add, due to weather, we ended up leaving Bermuda about 18 hours early. Since we were there for a couple of overnights, it was perfectly possible that someone might have booked a night at a resort and not gotten the news of the change.
In that case, I'd understand being annoyed, getting back when the ship initially said the return time was, and finding it gone.
The late 8 wasn't that...

What I don’t understand is why no one has the same level of vitriol towards the airlines, or the train, if it leaves on time and someone misses it.
Why is it suddenly one cruise ships to bend over backwards to help someone who won’t follow the departure time?
I heard someone say “Because the cruise line brought them there.” So? If I fly to a foreign land on Delta, and then fail to make it back in time for my return flight, it’s not Delta’s fault because they brought me there.
I understand the issues with maybe not having your meds or clothing, but still, shouldn’t that make it more important to you that you make it back?
Oh, and I just returned from the NCL Gem. We left a couple in Bermuda. They were late. Why are the late 8 immune from personal responsibility?

For anyone interested, I'm on the Island Princess (why do my fingers keep wanting to type "Italian" or "Indian" instead of "Island" every time I type that?), and thoughts I'd share the song list for anyone interested.

is it possible for a handicap person to take this??He rides scooter, has Parkinsons and can walk some, but I'm not sure what we do with the scooter.
I can’t swear to it, but my recollection of it was that it should be scooter accessible.

I’m not sure which I’m missing more, Brentt’s updates or people carrying what I have to say. 😉
I just noticed the autocorrect error. Caring, not carrying.

So we ended up getting home around 4am and our vacation is officially over now. However, our luggage was having none of that and is still on vacation somewhere...
We got home with luggage intact, but with a dead battery in my wife's RAV4. But thanks to AAA we got that sorted and are safely (and somewhat sadly) back at home...

The pea soup at 10:30 am in Glacier Bay was very good.
I missed it, I was so bummed!

Well, the family in Seattle that we were going to visit with have all tested positive, so we’re pivoting and have booked a flight to Boston today.
All in all, this was a great trip and we met so many wonderful people, saw fantastic sights, played some fun games, and gained about 100 lbs.
For anyone going next, the comics are fantastic, the four members of the entertainment team are wonderful, and you’re in for a fantastic week!

Thank you for sharing this cruise, I really enjoyed following along. 😄
Quick question: did you still get the HAL tiles and the voyage log? Lisa's thread showed the sticker and journey book from the last night but I wasn't sure if that was in lieu of the voyage log or in addition to. And while I'd be okay not having a Mariner reception (I'm not 4 or 5 Star yet) I do love the tiles!
Safe travels home tomorrow.
They showed up in our cabin tonight.

From another thread, apparently the family of two of the victims has released their identities.

Jen and I completed the week with one win in the game night, one win at group trivia, and two at music trivia (lost a third on the second tie breaker)

I just saw an update online that states there were no survivors 😞
Truly terrible and heartbreaking.

Someone said they detected a signal. With good luck, let's hope they are found, safe and sound. Big bummer!
No word, but it’s probably a black box signal. I’m still hoping for survivors, but I would estimate that it’s a low chance.

Per news reports, there is a signal, coming from 1400 feet, cloud ceiling is 900 feet, so they’re organizing a hiking crew to get up there.
No idea what they’ll find, hoping for the best!

I saw reports of a flightseeing plane going missing in Ketchikan today. Not too many details available.
That’s probably why we were so slow coming back. They said there was some kind of emergency ahead of us, and we did see coast guard out.

Misty Fjords was amazing, I swear I’d only have been slightly surprised to see pterodactyls wheeling about in the sky.
On the way back (currently) something happened and so rather than returning around noon, I’m thinking closer to two, so little time to see Ketchikan, but still, beautiful weather for the time that mattered, rain held off until the return.
Highly recommend, especially if you’ve never been to Norway’s fjords, or have and miss them.
Lots of pics, but I have to look them over to figure out which to share.

Another situation where people came back late from an excursion, were left behind, and blamed the cruise line...

Yeah, that confused me as well. I was feeling bad for them due to the transportation screw up, until I remembered. Maybe they were docked at the one pier that’s out of town? We got that one once.
