  1. And both of my sons went there for 3 years each and one was actually in Castle college so lived in the castle and had formals in the grand dining room. I still have no idea what one is.
  2. Not the films obviously. They are great old movies. The dress code.
  3. I have no idea what a cummerbund is. I have to say though, this reminds me of a scene from a Agatha Christie movie - Hercule Poirot - The Orient Express, Death on the Nile. My idea of hell.
  4. I do pay a lot for my running shoes. But not for just walking about shoes. I currently have running shoes, a pair of skechers (cheap ones for walking about) and 1 pair of brown shoes. Thats my full shoe collection. Would rather spend my money of my vinyl collection
  5. Oh I dont know about that. I have a female wife.
  6. Cant believe I also missed Nottingham off the list too. And was only there a fortnight ago. Great weekend, and fabulous pubs again. Nottingham is a fabulous sporting city. I consider Nottingham south ish. London folk consider it North. But they consider Watford North.
  7. Birmingham is most definitely South. As is Cardiff which I forgot to out in there. Just goes to show though, the North of England is the place to visit.
  8. I also forgot to add Cardiff in there too. Cardiff is a beautiful City. With great pubs.
  9. This isnt really true at all. It can be a reason but isnt usually.
  10. City status in the UK can be associated with having a cathedral or a university, a particular form of local government, or having a large population
  11. Would have loved that. At least its real. Much better than those wearing Ramones T shirts who dont even know who Ramones are. I could have talked to him for hours. I magine that compared to "Nice Tux, where did you get it?"
  12. Not sure you should be getting personal hygiene mixed up with dress code.
  13. Edinburgh is my favourite City in the UK. Its so much better than London. So, what other cities knock the socks off London? Liverpool Manchester York Durham Glasgow Newcastle Upon Tyne Bath And contrary to popular belief, I like Birmingham. And I love Dundee
  14. I swear I wouldnt notice. Unless someone walked in still wet from snorkelling, with the snorkel still attached. The poster you quoted said, "you are not looking hard enough" if you dont notice. Why would I even need to look? IO am enjoying my meal, and working my way through the cocktail menu. Looking what others are wearing is about no. 23,345 on my list of things to do.
  15. I dont doff my cap to truly wealthy people. Seems a weird thing to concentrate on.
  16. My kind of dress code. There will be some furious with you though. You just have to laugh at them.
  17. I refuse to pay more than £10 for a shirt. I darent tell you what I see as a rip for shoes. I would love to be sat next to you on a cruise being judged because if it. It would be comedy gold.
  18. I never wear shorts. So this doesnt bother me. But in my simplistic view, life is too short to care if someone else in the dining room is. I am usually having too much fun to even look at how other folk are dressed. I cant contemplate my night being ruined because the fella at the next table isnt wearing a cravat. Where do you draw the line? I mean, well, clothes dont necessarily make everyone easy on the eye, shall we say.
  19. Someone smoking might impact your health and enjoyment. I agree with you here. If someone is wearing clothes that get your disapproval, I suggest you get out more.
  20. Always makes me laugh this. Why would any fella feel the need to dress up like the Penguin from Batman, just to have a very weird fake photo taken, when they should be having a good time, and getting happily drunk?
  21. There is no insistence on participating in this "dress to impress" nonsense. Mutton dressed a lamb is still mutton anyway. I know. I AM that mutton. And I have never been turned away from any restaurant because I wasnt dressed like I was attending an interview. Just dont dress like you have just left the beach or a building site.
