  1. Already the middle of the month how time flys. I haven’t weighed . I’ve been stressed. Sugar bingeing . Got a call my son is visiting this weekend bringing his wife who openly dislikes me. I asked for flight info etc. I got they arrive in the afternoon. They are renting a car (I have an extra car they could use and are staying in a hotel - no flight info, airport etc only detail she wants to visit my Houston sons ex. —- Then Tuesday had stress test which was a cluster F. The cardiologist changed the order to a nuclear treadmill last minute so I had to wait an hour for isotope to arrive. Lots of time delays what was to be a 2 hour visit turned into a 5 hour. I did have a melt down when the tech couldn’t answer my questions. I had a friend drop me off and then pick me up.

  3. Jan I hear your frustration. I’m glad I’ve kept records of my weight loss journey. I wt is VERY VARIABLE. Ups and downs but will trend down. Don’t focus on losing, focus on staying the same. As long as your clothes fit relax. Terri great loss. Stick with your eating plan and relax. A lb a week might be a bit ambitious. Same advice as Jan, if your cruise clothes fit relax. I keep saying relax because I think stress isn’t helping.
  4. Good morning everyone. I’m down 1.2 lbs. Have curbed the sugar cravings. Scales are crazy during week up and down rarely weigh the same day to day. Had another high blood pressure incident / er visit. Finally was brave enough to take bp med during episode have lowest dose no help after 2 hours so took another still didn’t change and the got dizzy, vomited x 2 that’s when I called 911. It’s back under semi control. But have referral to a neurologist. I’m still not getting in any walks. slab gets installed today. Generator in two weeks. Lights flicker periodically. I’m anticipating power outages next year if we have a good soaking rain and winds. Since trees are starting to die from the excessive heat —over 62 days over 100 and. Level 2 drought. Everyone take care of yourselves and I think it might be a good idea to get those masks back out. Just to be ready
  5. *** INTERESTING FACT Women 65 or older do better if their BMI is no lower than 23 and being overweight isn’t necessarily a bad thing. (Leaves room for better recovery)
  6. Jan are port are now Cozumel, Belize ( which has replaced Costa Maya) and Routan. I’m looking at 2k adventure tours. Princess isn’t offering a sloth excursion. Last year I did it through Carnival. My son hired a local company but do t know the name.
  7. TX. I did same cruise with carnival last year. My favorite must do excursion is sloth monkey sanctuary. Can hold the sloth. Not a ship excursion but there are several companies that will pick you up at the peer. They changed the itinerary from stopping at Costa Maya to a Belize stop.
  8. Solo sorry you’re not feeling well. It really takes a toll in or mental health, activity etc. you’ll be rejuvenated with your cruise. Tx . Welcome. I’m in the Houston area. I’m on a princess / Galveston cruise leaving Nov. 19 for thanksgiving.
  9. Last weigh in for AUGUST. How time flys. Im in a great mood. It’s 72 degrees this morning which means I can go for a good walk. I’ve been successful with my diet - broken the sugar cravings. Cut my calories to 1000 daily ( fairly easy for me ( I don’t have he sensors that tell me I’m hungry also if I’m full). Started Monday last week and it took a few days to start registering a loss. Drum roll I’ve lost 5.6 lbs - well on my way to my old range. Thanks to this site. To those who just come in and read our posts. You obviously are having weight issues if you’re reading our posts. Please join us - there is no shaming or judging on this site. The accountability of posting keeps us on track. I got off track it took me several months to back on - but I did it with help of these friends.
  10. Terri I agree it is a lifelong journey. In the past year I’ve put 20 lbs of the 100 I lost. With all my stressors I went to sugar ( I’m truly addicted - can easily eat a whole bag). That and decrease walking due to health and now the heat have gotten the best of me.. Biggest culprit is NOT weighing every day. I think I am finally back on track. Have actually been to the grocery store and left without any sweets. Also weighing every day. Next step is to stop with the salt. I would like to loose 1- 1.25 lbs a week before thanksgiving cruise.

  12. Good morning everyone . I continue struggling getting back on track - focusing on eating better ( getting control of my sugar addiction) slowly making head way. Same wt this week. Current stressors - heat 100s, drought and watering restrictions, Rising insurance cost - needing to change. Car has gone up 250% in last year and house up 25%. I hope everyone is healthy. Managing eating habits and getting some exercise
  13. Solo I’m so sorry about your neck. I hope it is stable and you’re not in severe pain. Life just keeps messing with our plans.
  14. Jan before Covid started I had a change in taste. Breads,, pizza crust, dumplings all taste like paste. The only things that taste right are candy and salty. Thus eating healthy food isnt satisfying. My recommendation is to relax. Your body will do what it wants. Focus on staying the same and your body may respond with a loss.
  15. Good morning everyone. Nothing new here. Still trying to curb snacking. I’m doing a little better. Stayed the same which is good. staying healthy. Saw cardiologist - to evaluate BP and cardiac status. Getting customary stress test and echo in a few weeks. Overall I feel great.
  16. Great week so far for everyone good losses with a very minimal gain. Im back to struggling with eating junk. It doesn’t help that I only go out x2 a day for less than an 30:min. Took dog to park at 7am and my car read 87 degrees outside. The water in the gulf is in the high 80’s not good hurricanes like warmer water. Hopeffully my generator gets installed by mid September.

  18. Belle hope you’re enjoying your cruise. Sure you will feel better - cruising is your happy place. Solo good for you you’re having great losses. Glad you had a good date. I’m too old for that but get all my social needs met at dog park. Jan are you feeling better? The heat is sucking the life out of me. Walked a mile this morning (dog’s decision ) temp at 8:30 83 with feels like 97. I did schedule for a generator. Our power grid isn’t dependable. Last night power went out x3 each time about an hour. GOOD NEWS I think I’m finally back on track eating better.
  19. Oh no Belle sorry about your shoulder. Take a heating pad, and gallon size ziplock for ice packs. Keep you hand tucked in a pocket or waistband to decrease arm movement. It sucks to get old - I feel like I’m falling apart piece by piece. JAN so sorry co-vid is hanging on. Good side it will decrease your calorie intact I’m a lb lower than I thought. Went to dr . Got all prescriptions I asked for. And a consult for cardiology - could have been dehydration. — regardless at my age a good cardiac work up is a good idea.
  20. Belle have a great cruise. I’ll eventually do an Alaskan cruise. You’ve been very busy with your house tons of remodeling. i don’t color my hair. Did for a short while in my late 40s (want hair all on color- I was born with a birth mark. Hair rt. Temple was strawberry blond. Had a copper streak in the back and my rt. Eyelashes and eyebrow were white. Yes I was born punk. Now at 73 I still look punk- some white patches, dark patches , grey patches and salt and pepper. I feel much better. Looking for a cardiologist just to get me on the right path. After my neck issue I no longer feel like my pcp cares - more focused on her insurance grades (yes drs are monitored by insurance companies and Medicare )
  21. Belle thanks to a good start for the week. I’m so impressed with everyone’s weight loss. I’m still not getting on scale. Just struggling to get on a routine. I’m not growing out of my clothes . It is one drama after another. Felt weird on Wednesday - checked blood pressure was high then nauseated. 911 ride ER max blood pressure 230/80. Stabilized and went home. Don’t know what caused it. Blood pressure back to my normal - I’m monitoring haven’t take meds ordered - that’s the nurse in me. just taking it easy
  22. My friend bad knees and fractured right ankle doing better - she wasn’t thinking clearly for a week. I finally convinced her if she didn’t start standing straight with her left leg she may never stand again. Since she is able to transfer alone. She has a scooter to rest her right leg since no wt bearing for 6 weeks. I can’t be in her house more than an hour due to her son chain smoking giving me acute pharyngitis Jan sorry about the cruise and Covid - glad I cancelled that’s all my son and I needed another cruise leaving sick. I’ve been on 2 carnival cruises in past year and no one in our group of 13 got sick. Group of 6 on second cruise my son got sick no Covid I felt like I had bad allergies. Just never know. Have a Princess thanksgiving cruise will go prepared. Still hot here. Can’t get motivated.. have the house to myself son in Colorado.
  23. Looks like everyone is doing great. No gains. The heat is sucking the life out of me. Great if I get in 2 miles a day. Jazzper/ dog like chasing squirrel in small park behind my house. im slowly getting over acute pharyngitis caused by spending 12 hours in the house with a chain . Smoker. My friend broke and dislocated right ankle. She had surgery last wed. Her son is bed bound with muscular dystrophy and she is the caretaker. Lots of scheduling and errands to be done. The dog park group have organized meals and errands. im not eating properly just trying to stay positive. I’d like to loose 10 lbs before thanksgiving cruise.
  24. Belle, Susan and solo great losses. I’m doing a little better eating properly. I haven’t weighed this week. Close friend fell in tub broke and dislocated ankle wed. At 10 pm. Her 50ish bed bound son called me. I got to house as ambulance took her away. She returned home at 3:30am with splint and unable to stand on good leg. So now 2 home bound people. Home health is sending 24 hour sitters. I coordinating food deliveries from friends( finding out who real friends. And how hard it is for people to commit to taking one meal a week) Her daughter arriving Tues for wed surgery. Forgot to mention the son is a chain smoker so house reeks and after 12 hours in house my throat is scratchy. I will be alone for a month while son n Colorado. Oppressive heat is back
