Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Recently cruised on the Beyond, with 3 people sharing a "double sofa bed" cabin configuration. Double sofa bed means: - Sofa has a trundle bed configuration (one bed slides out from under the sofa) - A mattress can be put on top of the sofa seating area for a 2nd bed During our cruise, we never used the trundle bed. I slept on the mattress placed over the sofa seating area. The mattress was kept in place throughout the cruise, even during daytime. - The mattress-on-top-of-seating-area was comfortable enough for me. Some people are very fussy about mattresses and may not have the same opinion. - This bed was more narrow than a twin bed. I am on the smaller side. A larger person may have an issue with the narrowness of the bed. - Because the sofa seatbacks were removed to accommodate the mattress, and the sofa height was increased because of the mattress thickness, the sofa was not particularly comfortable to sit on as sofa seating.
  2. No official onship library. Recently cruised on the Beyond and noticed a shelf with books that seemed to serve as an unofficial book exchange. It was located in Eden, on the upper balcony level, on the "interior" side of the balcony level (not the balcony area by the aft windows). Somewhere between 1-2 dozen books. Would be a good idea to bring your own reading material.
  3. Recently cruised on the Beyond. MDR reservations are possible but limited once on ship. Our group attended the 7 PM show and ate in a MDR about 8.30 PM afterwards each night. It was easy to walk into any MDR and get a table. Dining late, we never felt like we were being rushed out of our table. We were typically finished in time to catch a 10 PM performance at one of the entertainment venues on ship. We rotated between all four MDRs during our cruise. All had menu items that were "hits" as well as a few "misses". Can't say that one was better or worse than the others. Pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We were ultra pleased with the service in all four MDRs. We used our Classic Beverage Package at the Cafe al Bacio on Deck 4 and the one in the Oceanview cafe (Deck 14). No extra charge for beverages priced at $10 or less. Espresso drinks (sans alcohol) were priced within this limit. Main Theater show times were 7 PM and 9 PM. Several other venues within the ship had performances at varying times.
