Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We were on the Zaandam for a South America cruise and got a Neptune through an upsell and were so happy we did. The extra space was nice to have for such a long cruise and the amenities were appreciated. I used the laundry service several times and the concierge was a huge help. As others have mentioned, the one thing we didn't like was no windows in the Pinnacle Grill. I think we only ate there twice for breakfast during the entire cruise. We enjoyed the Pinnacle so much that we booked it for our Alaska cruise this summer on the Noordam. The Pinnacle has windows on that ship and I'm sure we'll utilize it every day. Booking it outright wasn't by any means inexpensive, but we take one "big" vacation every year (in addition to 2 or 3 lesser vacations) and budget about $20,000 for it. I think for the two of us for Alaska was around $12,000 (3-day Denali).
  2. This was in March 2020. Yes, they were mixed drinks.
  3. Yes, the butler brought mixed drinks to our cabin - and he was **very** well tipped for a 7-day cruise.
  4. When we were in the Deluxe Owner's Suite on the Dawn (non-Haven ship), we had our butler bring us drinks a few times and were never charged for them.
  5. I have an Alaska cruise on HAL and a Caribbean cruise on Celebrity booked in 2024.
  6. I have always thought the concierge did this. That has been my experience in the Haven.
  7. Sailing in the Haven on the Escape, at our request our butler kept a pitcher of lemonade and ice tea in our fridge. We also provided him with a list of preferred afternoon snacks (we don't like anything sweet) and he was great with that. Otherwise, we didn't use him for much but enjoyed having him available.
  8. I had no idea that NCL even offered exchange services. I always use my credit card anyway when traveling.
  9. We just took a 7 day sailing on the Escape in the Haven. At the end of the cruise we tipped the butler $200, the concierge (we did use him a lot) $100, the Haven bar staff $100, the Haven dining room staff $100, and the room steward $100. We also spent a lot of time at the main pool bar and they had a fantastic staff who was really good to us. We left them $100 also.
  10. I love those names! I've had pet rabbits since 2004. Numbers have varied between 3 - 9. I volunteer for Gainesville Rabbit Rescue too.
  11. Escape should be terminal 10. Ships usually sail from the same terminal. Signage is good at the terminal too.
  12. We did notice the camera and wondered how much they looked at it. Just keep your illicit activities indoors, LOL!
  13. I usually type up a preference sheet to hand to the butler on board. I always ask for a pitcher of lemonade and ice tea in the fridge and gave my preferences for afternoon snacks.
  14. We just sailed out of Canaveral terminal 10 in December. We dropped the luggage with the porters (it was really quick) and then hubby left me with our carry on's and parked the car in the garage. There was no Haven tent outside, but once you go up the elevator you just say you are Haven and are directed to the separate security line. Once through, a Haven representative greeted us and walked us to the Haven lounge. We signed in on a sheet and the agents were taking people and checking them in in the order of arrival. There were some good snacks and beverages to partake in while we waited. It was a very short wait. Then we have our pictures taken and were given our keys. A few minutes later, a concierge escorted us on the ship. We were first taken to our muster station and then to the Haven lounge and served champagne. From the time we arrived at the terminal until we got to the lounge was about 30 minutes. Our cabin was not ready yet, so we went to the restaurant and had a delicious lunch. By the time we finished lunch, the cabin was ready so we proceeded there. All in all, a seamless experience. We were in cabin 14106 (forward facing penthouse) on the Escape. The cabin was roomy (huge bathroom!) and comfortable. The side balcony in the cabin was what they call a 'priva-sea' balcony, meaning is is partially enclosed. I really liked it because it blocked the wind and I spent a lot of time out there while we were underway reading.
