  1. I’m seeing “booking not found”.
  2. That makes sense. I guess anyone could cancel at any point in time for any number of reasons. So you never know… Happy with what we have. Would be thrilled if the upgrade works.
  3. Thank you for the responses! I’m going to remain hopefully optimistic. I’m very happy with the penthouse we have. And I’m so glad that I’m even alive to take this cruise (at one point my chance of survival was given as “less than 5%” and I’m completely aware it’s nothing short of a miracle that I’m here). This would just be the cherry on the cake if we are successful with our upgrade bid.
  4. Booked to sail on Discovery Princess next month. Short cruise for a big birthday and celebration of recovering from a serious illness that very nearly killed me. Currently booked in a penthouse suite but received an email offering the chance to bid for an upgrade to a Sky Suite. I thought “why not? It’s a big celebration” and placed my bid. But the cruise is showing as sold-out. Am I bidding against the chance of someone cancelling? Or is “sold out” not always the same as “sold out” and cabins are held back from sale?
  5. Roughly how far in advance do NCL book the flights? I’d like to know when I’m likely to receive my locator so I can look at possibly upgrading with the airline. Do they just send a confirmation with your flights or do I need to go into the NCL website and select my flights like we once did for Celebrity?
  6. I used a spare email address of mine. My mother doesn’t “do” email… I’ve tried but she won’t. So the payment reminder will come to me.
  7. Thank you! You saved my sanity! I used a VPN and selected the U.K. as my location. I then accessed the Viking UK website and it looked completely different. Suddenly I had a “book now” option and was able to complete the entire booking online using my credit card. I was able to select their departure airport also. Obviously the flights are not yet released for 2025. My mother and her husband are now booked on the same cruise as us and I am thrilled. I’m very grateful for all the help from this community.
  8. I did consider option 1 but it makes it less of a gift, in my mind. “Here‘s my credit card. Buy a gift from me.” I know she won’t see it like that but I will. Option 2 I am very reluctant to do after an incident with NCL (I know…different companies, different rules…) where my mother and stepfather were visiting us for an extended stay and decided to book a last minute cruise on NCL from Seattle while they were here. We looked online here at our home, found one, booked it, using my address and credit card, but when they got there they were told that the rate booked was for US residents only. I noticed on the Viking US website, deep in the Ts and Cs it makes reference to promotions and prices only available to Canadian and US residents.

  10. A few weeks ago, my husband and I booked a Viking river cruise in Europe. We are Americans and live in the US. Talking to my mother who lives in the UK with her husband about the cruise, and she said it sounded wonderful and she had always wanted to do something like that but was worried about the cost. I said we would pay for them to come on the same cruise as us and she was delighted. It has proved impossible to book this cruise for them. We booked ours online so I went back to the Viking website and tried to book a cabin for my mother and stepfather but it would not accept their UK address. I contacted Viking who said that they would have to book through the UK office as promotions, Ts and Cs etc vary from country to country. I have sent three emails to the UK office, making it very clear that I have a credit card here in my hand and I am trying to give them money but I have not even had the courtesy of a reply. It appears there is no possibility to book online on the UK website. I am on the west coast so 8 hours behind the UK so I would have to be up very early to call and that would involve the cost of an international call unless I can find a Whatsapp option. How do people in the UK book a Viking cruise? I am astounded that in 2023 there is no option to book and pay a deposit on line.
