  1. A bit crass aren't you? We're in the food industry. The food is decent, but perhaps YOU need to try a different cruiseline yourself. Never heard of the ship you're talking about. I think you moniker says it all. Never said anything about dining with the Peons, but we'd prefer not to dine with you.
  2. We did find the items(steak,Lobster)that we chose in the MDR menu that came from Crown Grill to better than the ones we actually ate in the Crown. Still don't know the case for this.
  3. not sure what's offered elsewhere on the ships()we do the Riviera)
  4. It was about a $50 upcharge. No one ever paid it as we ALL felt it was not justified. They had to lower it to about 30-35 to fill the specialty rest.
  5. That's what we did on our 2020 Hawaii trip. The Lobster tail is far superior to what's offered in the MDR for final formal night.
  6. Again agree here. I do recommend Oceania if you're a true foodie like us.
  7. I'll agree there. The steak quality is no higher than USDA Select, however. The Ultimate Balcony dinner or the Chef's table are choice to perhaps Prime, especially the Chef's table dinner.
  8. Shows on O are fairly tame. The food IS the entertainment. We jumped from Celebrity to O due to food quality. There is NO comparison(unless you're in Celebrity suites) That being said we switch to other lines on occasion such as Princess for our next 2 trips. Hard to say no to a 14 day Penthouse on Sky Princess for $4300 PP. Food, however will be an expected letdown, unfortunately on Princess
  9. The bottles are very nice. They do dent easily & if you drop one, it makes quite a racket. We'd pay for insulated ones if offered as they warm up pretty quickly to room temp.
  10. Oceania has some of the best coffee around & it's not charged extra for. The Illy brand is excellent, but so is all the other coffee offered.
  11. We're in the hospitality field. When you deal with people who at times feel they live in the old plantation times by the way I've seen staff treated. Sometimes there's never enough(as you would say)
  12. We've found the specialty DR's on Princess to offer decent but not outstanding food. The fee does include tips. You can add more. do so in cash so it goes direct to the person taking care of you. The food in these rest. is far less in quality than say on Celebrity. Still you get more attention to detail & better food. What we now do more often is to choose items on the MDR menu that come from the specialties. The Lobster tail is much better than the standard one you get on formal nights. Same with the beef meals. It's your choice as to do this or attend the rest. themselves. As we do club Class we already get the fine service, but the food is still standard MDR fare, which for the price you pay is quite a let down. Princess needs to upgrade the menus for Club Class or offer a special dining venu for those in that accommodation.
  13. Pretty much yes. If they look really beat up maybe not. But we've not seen bad sneakers.
  14. Thanks. Appreciate the heads up on the ignore button.
  15. Basically, some lines are demanding verifiable instances of bad service by staff. Considering that literally everything you do on a ship is on video, this is pretty easy to prove. I've seen pax treat staff like absolute crap(not often, but seen it) On Celebrity, my spouse interceded in a incident that became physical between a staff mgr & a scumbag pax. The pax was banned for life upon returning to port. Other lines are notified as well. what we found out from this staff mgr. was the amount of security who are dressed like pax. They were about to deal with this belligerent pax when my spouse got involved. We wound up with a nice bottle of wine, a nice dinner & several free excursions as a thank you. I'd recommend not taking this on if you're really not physically able.
  16. Glad cruise lines are now making it hard to remove it. You have to show proof of bad service in order to remove the gratuity. I've seen pax get bad service a number of times. Of course, I guess that treating staff like personal slaves warrants poor service back. Nothing more fun than that self entitled New Yorker getting a comeuppance on occasion.
  17. Some shirts are well made like TB & some like the cheap ones that last a week are not.Why do some people use the names of celebrities & some use their own name?
  18. Those with the kilts will have the tux guys in their polished patent leather shoes seeing what the Scots wear or not wear under those kilts. Like Pee Wee Herman wearing "Shoe Mirrors" There I said it. That's the Pee Wee Herman gag from his stage act.
  19. That will fit the formal nights fine.
  20. I'd make a joke(Pee Wee Herman style) but those who don't get humor would be upset.
  21. Ahhh yes. The Most interesting man in the world!
  22. Smart casual is the style. "Anything" he wants could be trashy. Some boundaries need to be kept. Sorry, but cutoff t shirt & skanky shorts are not acceptable at night.
  23. I had about 8 Tommy Bahama shirts & they looked great.
  24. Thank God for the undies LOL! Tie is not necessary. We usually wear similar, but add a sport coat on occasion.
