  1. For us, it is the feeling that you have a team to help if there are any issues. Two examples, both on the same trip - we were on the Solstice in Alaska. one of our group started feeling quite unwell during an excursion. He contacted the Retreat concierge and was able to get escorted to the front of the tender line when he returned. On that same trip, my husband was dropped from a ship's excursion that we had already booked prior to sailing (it was a vendor error), and when we tried to rebook it the excursion showed full. Th Retreat concierge was able to work with the vendor or get him a space on the full excursion. That safety net makes us so much more relaxed.
  2. On our recent Icon sailing the 'naughty table' included many, many irons and steamers, and few power strips, plus what looked like an Instant Pot, a full-size pair of scissors, handcuffs, and a set of lawn sprinklers - the kind on stakes that you stick in the ground.
  3. We love sitting by a window in Blu no matter the ship, but just know that on Apex and Edge Blu is tucked in behind the lifeboats and that is your view. Didn’t bother us, but some were surprised.
  4. Just noting for accuracy that this is true only on Edge class ships - Celebrity's Millennium and Solstice class ships do not have infinite verandas.
  5. Based on past history of schedule releases, Europe sailings are announced in November. So November 2024.
  6. On our upcoming 9 day it is $279 per person or a little over $30 per day
  7. No limit on size - we bring full size all the time. We have also brought bug spray, especially on Alaska sailings
  8. How far away is your sailing? We sail in May and don’t have the Safety icon - it should show up closer to your sailing.
  9. The AHA was also on the Icon - it was all my husband drank from the freestyle machines
  10. When you first move the slider the bid price shown will start at their set minimum amount, and will increase as you move the slider left to right. It will stop at their set maximum bid amount. You cannot bid lower or higher than the amounts on the slider.
  11. The general consensus is yes. It’s a little obscure because the whole process is outsourced.
  12. It’s really just a fancy seating area next to the Martini Bar, so they only put the ice out and open it when the Martini Bar is open.
  13. I asked if new smaller ships are on the horizon at all....
  14. I've been saying this -- they aren't thank you gifts as much as they are incentives to not go to their competitors....
  15. The door signs also have a little ship icon on the them that shows whether you're fore, aft or mid. The Icon has some really good directional signage
  16. We noticed on the Icon Inaugural that there were hardly any announcements - only the Captain maybe once daily, and NO announcements about sales, entertainment, etc.
  17. Forward is green, midship blue-ish, aft darker blue
  18. We’re here today. It is chilly but not cold. The air temp feels fairly warm. No one swimming at CoCo Beach Club, just wading
  19. Random question - we like a cold stateroom - is the thermostat limited to a range of temps, or can you turn it down to, say, 66?
  20. Not really a library at all on the E class ships
  21. It’s directly across the Promenade from the Pearl. The Pearl is elevated and 3/4 enclosed.
  22. You will get access to Luminae and the Retreat Lounge plus the priority embark/debark, but not premium wifi or premium drinks
  23. I follow her on Tiktok - she is part of Royal’s official social media team, so what she posts has been vetted.
  24. The day we were there Soggy Dollar had really long lines from a Carnival excursion that had arrived before us. We much preferred the quiet atmosphere and shade at Hendo's - the food was good there, too.
