  1. Well, that was a long time ago!! That said "price to fill" vs. "market to fill" are very vague references to overall strategies, and they will never be mutually exclusive. No business can just charge whatever they want and hit sales targets strictly with marketing. Pricing will always be part of the equation. Did FDR really publicly state that he wouldn't maximize profits if it meant having to adjust some prices? Isn't pricing strategy part of marketing? And, by the way, I don't believe that the finer points of SEC regulations are typically part of a 3 hour introductory economics class. It's more the points about supply and demand and why a business exists (which was my initial reference to econ 101 before you got all technical)
  2. NCL does!! Just go to NCL.com, create a mock booking and see what the out-the-door price is. If you are nervous about DSC, just select the pre-pay option. Easy!!
  3. You are making two errors. Let me help you out: a) don't believe what other posters say b) don't believe what corporate officers say to the public NCL will make their money because cruisers who proclaim that they "WILL NEVER SAIL NCL AGAIN," don't really mean it. You missed the "IF" in my post: I can't speak for FDR, but I certainly didn't miss econ 101. Got an A in it!! 😎 (one of the easiest A's in a difficult STEM curriculum)
  4. Do you really write checks to pay for your cruises???
  5. Yeah, I don't understand why this is a thing. I check my big bag and carry my backpack on board. It fits nicely on the extra space in the booth at the Local, and they generally announce room availability before I finish my second cocktail. Worst case scenario? I guess we need to order one more round! 🤣
  6. Yep. I didn't stiff the hard working dude because I'm cheap. I did it as a matter of principle, to protest the evil corporation. Teach the corporation that maximizing revenue is not in their best interest. Huh!?
  7. Great! If you (and many others who claim that they are done with NCL for life) actually follow through, that equals less demand, which will reduce my NCL prices on future cruises. It's econ 101. Supply and demand. 😎 (it will also reduce those pesky profits which are apparently NOT the reason that a business exists - I must have missed that in econ 101)
  8. Ironically, the French Onion Soup was my least favorite. Equally ironic, the "non-French" Filet was fantastic (there is a small consensus on the forum that it is generally the best steak to be found on NCL ships).
  9. Yep. That wasn't Ryan. I know the guy you're talking about.
  10. I think we were on the same Joy sailing in October. If you spent significant time in the brewhouse, you may have seen me in action! (I was the guy who always had a tall Guinness nearby). Did you spend much time listening to Ryan at the Piano/Guitar?
  11. That's good to hear. I've been on Encore and Joy, but not Bliss yet. We do have a 2023 Bliss B2B booked and paid, so I'll soon see for myself. 😎
  12. Very nice!! btw Gary: you haven't seemed like the kind of guy who would paint your toenails, but I like the color! 🤣
  13. But book early, because there are only 4 studio cabins on the entire ship.
  14. Good advice for all. @complawyeris my friend, but he gets a bit uppity at times, just like all of us. We'll all have a drink and laugh/sleep it off.... 🤣
  15. What was so "special" during the last millenium? Isn't that when folks had to dress up and eat with the same people all of the time?
  16. I just said I was sympathetic. Somebody else said that the OP should not expect that. I never order prime rib because historically I've had about a ten percent success rate with it actually being good. Should people booking Cagney's NOT expect to get prime rib?
  17. Yep. It is a great way to see Hawaii. We've only done it once but will do it again as soon as NCL fixes the current problems. We have it booked in early 2024 and are hoping things will be right by then. That said, I don't consider it a "real" cruise because of all the time in port and the lack of on board amenities.
  18. "Nobody" was clearly hyperbole. I'm sure it happens once in a while, but it's not like NCL is really selling any meaningful amount of Bailey's at $16 per shot.
  19. I've never seen a "cheap" POA itinerary. It's a year round sailing and there really aren't any beginning/end of season price drops.
  20. I thought that was what I was doing?? People come into the NCL forum and state that NCL is the anti-Christ. I usually beg to differ... And, to your point, I really couldn't care less about what you're doing (I'm guessing it is much more than half). Just responding to outrageous comments. That is what an internet forum is often about.
  21. Nobody pays $16 for a shot of Baileys on board.
  22. I'm your huckleberry..... If somebody had booked Cagney's first night planning on prime rib, I am sympathetic to their 1st world problem. Horror? No. (but that's not what the OP posted)
