  1. They are 100000% different recipes. MDR one isn’t good, in my opinion. Not worth it. I personally favor Le Bistro’s soup.
  2. Any NCL I’ve been on just makes a spare key. They don’t activate the key for multiple rooms. At least in my experience. Was just on Encore this week, which is newer. We traveled with family and just had to get spare keys made.
  3. I’m not willing to do a private one only because wayyyy too many families have gotten left by NCL this year on Alaskan cruises. Sure there’s 2 sides to every story, and yea I’m aware one of the families booked an NCL excursion. Typically we’ve booked private tours on other cruises but this one just makes us a bit too anxious.
  4. I thought this but when I called them they denied that they do this! So confused.
  5. Hello! I recognize experiences may be anecdotal but I'm just curious... Has anyone had experience with a previously sold out excursion being able to book on board? Backstory: Going to Alaska on Encore in 2 weeks with family. SIL booked an excursion that I was to book too. I ended up with an unexpected hospital stay and was unable to do so until today. Went to book and it's gone, which I'm aware means it was sold out. We're just trying to navigate our choices now. I've already spoken to an NCL rep and am aware that options are to 1) live on a prayer that someone cancels and I happen to catch it and book the spot 2) SIL can go by herself or 3) SIL can cancel and we can choose a different excursion. I'm just curious if anyone has had luck with the former of either catching an released spot online or booking on the ship an excursion that was previously sold out? Thanks in advance 🙂
  6. Appreciating these updates, Bird! We'll be on this itinerary on the 1st as a group of 8. I'll also be 19 weeks pregnant so it's really helpful to get an idea of how things are operating and the schedules (always gotta plan in my daily naps). I was also excited to see they have some 0ABV Wines! Thanks!
  7. Soooo I'll just say that we did the NCL BOGO air promo for our upcoming Alaskan cruise on Encore in Seattle (9/1). NCL themselves booked us a 9:50AM departure for 9/8 out of Seattle, and then they contacted us two months later and were like, you won't make that flight we're rebooking you. They moved us all (party of 8 to a later flight). SO if NCL themselves was like "no," I think maybe that's as clear of an answer as one can get.
  8. I’ve been researching this same question and never heard an answer, So I’d be curious what you find out. But everything I read also suggested dropping off luggage as soon as 9am and then coming back to check in around 12 or 1.
  9. We’ve used NCL for air travel and liked it. But I think you need to have some sense of acceptance to just embrace it. We truly don’t care. We’ve had 7am flights getting to the port, we’ve had 9pm flights leaving the port. It doesn’t matter to us, we’ll make the most of it. Some people get really pissed, though. They don’t like the airline (we’ve been on American) or They don’t like their departure time (we don’t care as long as we get there). So it’s all about your ability to go with the flow. You should request the deviation asap. There is a CHANCE they’ll book you on a deviation already if they can’t get you on a same day, but that’s rare if you’re somewhere domestic without making the request. But it’s easy you just call and tell them your deviation preference. They book the airfare ~60 days out from trip.
  10. It (seems like) is kind of a random spot. It’s definitely a little shuttle port, but it’s like randomly tucked away between a couple buildings. Placencia is very small and very walkable. We just kind of took the day as an adventure. People mostly used ATVs to travel, and they’re typically available to rent. We walked to the main road and then turned right and found a local place to eat, had Tuttifrutti Gelateria, and then found an entrance to the beach. I should mentioned we did buy our tickets at the ferry but it’s a gamble and I don’t know if they still sell them there. But you can buy them on the ship once you embark for an ease of mind. Harvest Caye was cool, but a total tourist trap. Didn’t feel like an authentic visit to Belize until we got to Placencia.
  11. Hi! We went a few years ago, Placencia was our absolute favorite, highly recommend. We bought tickets on shore once we got off the ship. They group you together and take you over in shifts. It’s a pretty quick ride over. You would do that regardless if you’ve booked independent plans or just want to walk around town, unless your excursion specifically gives you other instructions. We explored the area, ate at a local restaurant, and relaxed on the most beautiful beach. We talked to a few people who did not ferry over to Placencia and stayed on the shore and went back to the ship a little early. We used up ALL our time on Placencia, ferried back over, dipped in the pool for all of 10 minutes and then got back on the ship. It was our favorite stop of the whole itinerary. But we also love “off the beaten path” areas.
