  1. Interesting, as that isn't what I said sparky, but you go ahead and roll with whatever strawman argument you want to make. Cheers!
  2. So that must be why the Joy's Haven seems so crowded at times. I think it has 120 plus or minus Haven staterooms. 😮
  3. Does anyone know if these Spa robes are any different in size to the ones put in rooms? My wife and I are both "fuffy" so we need larger than the standard One Size Fits None room robes. 🙄 FWIW - The Lotus Spa robes on Princess are easily the largest robes we've found on any ship. They would even fit my 3x tall frame!
  4. I'm pretty certain that NCL is making plenty of profit from the Haven guests. No worries there. Pretty sure NCL isn't in huge financial straights anyway, as they just announced those 8 new ships they are constructing.
  5. Understood, but I don't think NCL and Celebrity are direct competitors though. Celebrity is more in line with HAL and Princess, while NCL is more like RCCL and perhaps even MSC. MSC Yacht Club, I think, does stock the mini bar and gives you free drinks during most of the day. (please correct me if wrong, I think I got that from a Cruise with Ben and David youtube 😀)
  6. The deck 18 HF should be the cheapest in the Haven proper, while the deck 17 HE is just slightly more. I don't recall how much though, depends on the cruise. We liked the HE we had with the slightly larger deck and quick access to the Horizon Lounge.
  7. Meh, do not want larger ships, as I thought the Breakaway + were a bit too big, but that is just my opinion. Guess NCL wants to be like RCCL and keep its "uber $$$ resort-style" status. Just more "stuff" on a ship that NCL can charge lots of money for, just like RCCL is doing. That works for some but not for others. As someone else said, as long as there is some nice separate Haven to relax in I should be good to go.
  8. NCL wants more $$$. Simple. Surprised that this is a hard concept to grasp. 🤷‍♂️
  9. No need to raise the fares at all, as they are already double/triple what one would pay for the next category down. The Free at Sea is already baked into the standard cruise fare and stocking the fridge once does not cost the line much at all.
  10. I think I just had the Premium last time on my phone, then used my cell as a hotspot that my wife connected though. I think that worked for both of us, but it was a while ago.
  11. Kind of surprised they would charge extra for an additional small lobster tail. I can stomach an upcharge in the MDR for something like that, but not the Haven restaurant. FWIW - Had a nice conversation with our PCC about the cost of the Haven and what you get out of it compared to similar lines and service. Free at Sea should just be included in the Haven fare, not extra and the minibar should be stocked and possibly restocked in every Haven room. Small things like that.
  12. The only Haven we have stayed in so far was on the Joy for a brief 5 day Mexico sailing pre-renovation. We loved it, but it was super busy with kids as it was over the Christmas Holiday which is a bad time to cruise if you don't want to deal with children. As for Joy, there is both a Good and a Bad with the Haven. The good is you can try a Haven cabin for a lot cheaper on Joy than most of the other Breakaway ships (HH, and HJ class cabins not on other ships). The bad is there are just that many more folks who get to use and enjoy the Haven area.
  13. We did, but my wife is the teacher so it was on hers and I have the AARP on mine. Unsure if they can be stacked on the same person.
  14. From a previous thread on the Coffee Makers in the Neptune/Pinnacle Suites.
  15. It's not a Nespresso machine but something different. Invented by the same guy who did the espresso one, but the ones on HAL do not use the same pods. I think you may be able to use Lavazz pods.
  16. This is what I got from my PCC when I asked about this policy. "Our management assured us no one will get a lesser cabin than they booked and/or get their cabin canceled like other cruise lines have been doing! We might send you an offer to switch your cruise to another date, which will be a very lucrative offer, but we will not downgrade your cabin choice!"
  17. My wife is a teacher, so that is the main reason we are stuck doing cruises during kids' out-of-school vacations. But, as a teacher, she has no problem confronting rude and obnoxious kids. Sitting in the Neptune Lounge, reading. Everyone in there is enjoying the peace. A group of 7 teenagers comes in, takes over the big table, and becomes very loud and obnoxious. After a few glares from us and everyone else, the wife gets up and calmly confronts them all. This works for about 2 minutes then starts up again. This time it's the peeved teacher confronting them. A rather loud and rude boy isn't having it until I stand up and so do two other men in the room. The kids quickly left. The next time they came in and saw my wife and I, they were quiet.
  18. That's what I call the wife's shoe bag/suitcase, as she likes to have lots of options. 🙄
  19. Amazingly, this Legend is only partially helpful. There are no symbols on any of the Suite cabins (Pinnacle-4, Neptune-4, or Signature-3), at least on the Westerdam Deck Plans and Staterooms PDF I downloaded. I was also trying to figure out the difference in couches/chairs between rooms that are 3 people and those that are only 2 (Verandas), as pictures show they have the same setup. I guess one just has a pull-out, and the other does not?
  20. I just did a quick search of the cabins on Westerdam and I think all of them can sleep 3 or 4. So how would this rule make any sense when 95% of cruisers are couples?
  21. Does anyone know if you can cancel/rebook a cruise that you already have a deposit on to get the myVIP rewards applied? We have a cruise booked for October 2025 (I know, I would have to buy the $750 next Feb/Mar 2025 as they expire in the same year. Just trying to plan). We already have 2 CruiseNext deposits down, plus the extra deposit for our Haven room and a 10% off coupon since they had canceled our other cruise. All is done via our PCC whom we usually work with for all reservations and questions. I would cancel and rebook via the Casino program if they could apply all the same $$$ and discounts as I have now, ONCE I can purchase the $750 off coups (as long as they still have it next year).
  22. Club is the best of both worlds in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I will fight to get into a Haven Suite if I can justify the exorbitant price hike, but the Club is easily a justifiable upgrade over a Balcony or even an Interior (which, amazingly, we have never cruised in).
  23. Yes, there is an auto 18% gratuity added if you do not have a drinks package.
  24. Never happened to me in all my cruises. At least not that I recall. I've asked the "bus person" to get a drink before, and they went and found a server/bartender to take my order. Usually, they are busy so I just get my lazy butt back out of the chair and go get it myself.
  25. Well, it does reduce the price of the drink for you, as you only pay the difference now. So instead of paying $15 plus gratuity, you only pay $4 plus gratuity. PLUS the Signature and Elite package already limit your alcoholic drinks to 15 per day.
