We had the same on our last cruise out of Norfolk in August. We are platinum, my daughter gold and we had a newbie couple. I got 11, my daughter got 11:30 and the newbies got 12:30. We got there around 12 because parking took so long but they sent us right through in the platinum line and there was a line for early arrivals. Just take the early time and go with them. Don't know about other ports.

Magic had the Quest in August. They divided the room into teams. So it was big teams and the same people in the team were involved. I've played and won several times so I just wanted to watch the craziness. Enjoyable!

Royal was our line of choice until Carnival just beat them in casino promotions you can't turn down.

Just got off Magic and we all had a great time. Dont expect perfection on an older ship. Go on the new ships and you might get it. I love the smaller ships so it works for us. Had the best staff at dinner. Had my time dining and requested them the rest of the cruise. The waiters friend was the chef at the Italian resstaurant so when we went he told him and he sent us a shrimp platter. your expectation may be to high.

I have been out of Norfolk once before covid and as I didn't like dropping off luggage and parking elsewhere but it didn't stop me from booking again. I was just u tubing and they were saying what a disaster it was. I am not a newbie but we are cruising with friends on their first cruise. Any hints on a smooth embarcation? And debarkation was even worse. We carry off but they said they were off before the ones carrying off their luggage. Does anyone know if our friends can get off with us. We are platinum. Thanks!

We are on in August. How much are the day passes? Can you buy them ahead of time or when you get on the ship?

We are heading to the Legend on Oct 1st also. Last on it in Feb. My biggest complaint was the clam shell hoarders. Why hog it up when you dont come out till noon. I was able to snag one a couple of times when someone was leaving. Luck has to be with you.

I feel very fortunate to have been on over 50 cruises since we started in 1985. Royal was our favorite(my husband was a little cruise snob back then) But none (NCL< ROYAL< PRINCESS<HOLLAND) can beat the casino deals we get thanks to my hubby on Carnival. Unless the grandkids are with us we just relax and enjoy the quiet on ship when everyone else gets off. We no longer pack suits or formal wear. Walking on those huge ships would probably tire us out. We can drive easily to baltimore from cleveland. so for now , for the money, its carnival.
