  1. I fully intend to eat and drink my way through everything the ship has to offer! I am just a strong creature of habit when it comes to my morning iced coffee - it's a ritual at this point for me.
  2. Thank you @Sharon in AZ for your detailed answer it’s exactly what I was looking to know!! I’m also in AZ 🌵 🤠
  3. I use a concentrate that I don't mix until I'm ready to drink. It's is 1 teaspoon of cold brew concentrate to 8 oz of whatever water I have laying around, so I won't need to use the fridge. I'll just need ice, which I'm hoping I can ask for room service or the steward to bring to the cabin 🤞
  4. When you order at those cafes do you explicitly order iced coffee, or an iced espresso based drink (like an iced latte)? I can’t believe I’m making this so complicated it seems silly 😄 Cold brew is regular coffee grounds steeped overnight in cold water (sweeter and less bitter taste), and iced coffee is regular brewed hot coffee that’s then chilled in the fridge to a cold temperature before serving. The difference with an iced espresso based drink is that the beans are espresso and there’s usually way more milk than an iced coffee or cold brew. It’s always possible to just pour hot brewed coffee directly over ice but then that waters down the coffee so it’s not ideal. Sooooo if straight up iced coffee or cold brew isn’t available on board I will bring my own cold brew concentrate, but I’d rather not if I can stroll over to a cafe.
  5. As the title says, I'm wondering if iced coffee and/or cold brew is an available at any the cafes or elsewhere on board Koningsdam. Not iced latte, not iced americano, not hot coffee poured over ice....but actual iced coffee or cold brew. Thanks!!
  6. @mshaines can you tell us which drink package you had?
  7. Great review! So bummed to hear about non-alcoholic drinks including water counting against the 15 drinks/day limit. It says explicitly on the HAL website that nonalcoholic drinks are exempt from the limit and unlimited. I drink so much water!!! I don’t want to be running back and forth to lido to refill my bottle at all hours of the day.
  8. Saaaaaaame! My spreadsheet for our July 2025 AK cruise has been active since March! 😂
  9. When ships arrive early do they allow passengers off early too?
  10. Absolutely beautiful photos peety! So you have done both tours in one day - would you say you were knocked out at the end of the day but happy you did them both? Or wish you’d had more time/less rushed on that day?
  11. Looks like my messaging is disabled entirely. Thank you for the offer though - or if you want to upload a few of your favorite photos here?
  12. The TAF does not seek out whales as far as I know. I would LOVE to see whales up close and hopefully see the bubble net feeding which is why I really wanted to do the separate whale watching excursion. I feel like this cruise is going to make us want to return to Alaska for sure, so maybe instead of cramming both I should just pick one for this cruise and hold out hope we will return again and save the other for that second future cruise.
  13. Oh boy this is super convincing for us to just do the TAF excursion. We will be going in July, I’m assuming this will fare ok for ice conditions? I didn’t think of TAF as also being an opportunity to whale watch.
  14. Thank you this is helpful. I have read that people say there's a lot of downtime in the transit from the fjord back to Juneau. I would like to maximize our port time and the Tracy Arm excursion would be a huge chunk of that.
  15. The Tracy Arm excursion would leave from the cruise ship starting right outside the fjord, not round trip from Juneau (we're going on HAL Koningsdam if that helps). Thank you for your detailed reply it's super helpful!
  16. I was wondering about if we’d see whales at Tracy Arm. I really want to see orcas but I know that’s rare and not guaranteed anywhere.
  17. The Tracy Arm would be through the ship but we were looking at whale watching with Jayleen’s.
  18. Spouse and I are planning our first Alaskan cruise next summer and we’re overflowing with excitement! We are really intrigued by both the Tracy Arm catamaran excursion and whale watching in Juneau. Looking for thoughts on whether it would be too much to pack both into one day. If so and you only went with one excursion which would you choose? The Tracy Arm excursion leaves from the ship at 9am and meets back with the ship in Juneau at 3:30p. Whale watching would then be 4:30-8:30p. The ship is docked in Juneau from 1p-10p. The double excursion option would give us no time to explore Juneau and barely time to eat lunch & dinner. This is a bucket list cruise for us and while we hope to return to Alaska again one day I can’t be sure. We live in the desert so both of these excursions would be first time awe inspiring experiences for us. Happy to hear your thoughts and advice!
