Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Sheesh. Get your own proof of you don’t believe it. Google is your friend. It’s hardly a secret.
  2. lol whether it was me or the OP - your statement that "if you tested positive after an 8 day sailing means you most caught it before you boarded" is still misinformed - whether it was meant for me or the OP. Maybe you can study up on your "maths" with bucfan2! You "likely" caught it on board. I noticed that you are attempting to deflect your "likely" comment. lol Have a good day now!
  3. The cab driver that took us to the airport shared that he had a cruise ship passenger pay him $800 to driver her to Seattle!
  4. I waited for the ship to get to Vancouver (which was 6am - I got up so I could watch us go under the bridge too!) and used cellular. The Wifi on board is crap and unpredictable - though on the last sea day (Thursday) - earlier in the day, before going into the inside passage - several people were doing them in the Schooner lounge with no problems on ship Wifi. I also noted that during that time - and in that location - the wifi was working quite well. If your flight is on Friday - you can do this on Thursday. Our flight was on Saturday - so Thursday was not an option for me. I have ATT - they have a plan add on you can activate which charges your $10 per day outside the US when you connect to cellular. You only get charged on days you connect to non-US cellular - so you can just leave the plan on - you don't have to turn it on and off. I connected to the Rogers network - and had full bar LTE - no problem at all with our testing (4 of us did this).
  5. You have to handle it. I just did this on the 13-20 sailing. I strongly suggest you either do an eMed test before you get off the ship or allow plenty of time and make a reservation to be tested at the airport. I did the eMed test before I got off. I watched several people miss their planes because they were waiting on test results - which were taking awhile. Think an hour or 2. Not minutes. Security also takes awhile. You cannot check in until you have a negative test. You are crazy if you show up at the airport just an hour or 2 and think you will be able to test. Wait on results. Check in. Get through security and make your plane.
  6. Uh thanks? I have not tested positive at all. And I have no idea why you would say something like it being likely if I had that I would have acquired it before I left. If you go and actually read the information on those sites you reference you will see that the incubation period is between 2 and 14 days. The average being 5 and to take precautions until day 10. If you were going to apply odds it is not likely at all that had I tested positive after my cruise that my exposure would have been prior. It would have been likely that the exposure would have been right in the middle of the cruise. Lol 14 days is at the end of the spectrum. Not at all the “likely” part of it.
  7. So far - 1 of our party of 4 had a "unexpected present". All 4 double vaxed and boosted. We tested negative the last day of the cruise - all 4 of us. (Radiance in Alaska 13th - 20th) Made it home. State of Utah advised all 4 of us through the mobile phone alerting process that we had been in proximity to someone with a positive result on the 12th or 13th - though all 4 of us got this notification on the 22nd. Also interesting we all left Utah on the 11th and were in Alaska the night of the 11th and boarded the ship on the 13th. Maybe someone on the plane? We are reasonably sure we were not near any Utahns on the 12th or 13th. 2 of our party are in 1 household. 2 in another. 1 person started feeling like they were getting a cold on the 21st - and then after the alert - tested on the 22nd - and was positive. So far the other person in that household, and the other 2 ppl in the other household are testing negative still as of yesterday- next round of tests tomorrow.
  8. I just did this on the 13th - we had a whale watching trip before we boarded - we were able to drop our luggage off before the whale watching trip - it made things so much easier. We turned in our luggage around 11:30am. Then I turned in our rental (I rented the car in Anchorage and dropped it off in Seward) and then got to the dock for the whale watching tour all before noon. I don't know how long the porters had been there - we were definitely not the first. Then we got off our tour at 4:30 and boarded the boat - we were on by about 5:15 - which included waiting for the shuttle. The embark was literally walk in - show your documents - walk to the person checking you in and walking on board. It may have been busier between Noon and 5 - but there were zero lines for us.
  9. I used cell. The Wi-Fi was awful on board. I have ATT and they have a program for unlimited cell/text/data for 10/day out of the US.
  10. Delta was $218 for both of us combined. I can't remember what the RCL was. At least with Delta - you can click the link and they tell you before you buy what the cost is.
  11. Last Friday - in Vancouver - several had this same experience - having to wait 1-2 hours for their test results after testing at the airport - coupled with 1-2 hour waits in security - many missed flights and grouchy people. I am completely sold on eMed - it was so easy to do it in the morning before getting off the ship - and then heading to the airport and not having to deal with waiting on results. One couple in the waiting area near me - after waiting a couple hours got a Negative on him and a "See the Nurse" on her - there was some pretty colorful language going on lol. I felt bad for the Delta reps who were having to explain over and over - no, we cannot check you in until you have your test results. Yes - we know you still have to go through security, no - we still cannot check you in. Note - we had also been warned about long security lines in Vancouver as well. You are a crazy person if you think you are hitting the doors of the airport with 1 hour to spare and still needing to test.
  12. I had similar fears (I ended my cruise in Canada last Friday). I was not at all convinced that I could rely on this at all - the verbiage is too vague and some of the posts from ppl showed there was a possibility it would not happen or that I would have to foot the bill initially then argue for reimbursement. I was also not convinced that the Travel insurance offered by Royal would cover me once I stepped foot off the boat - such as - I leave the boat, go to the airport to test - and test positive. Because of that - I investigated the trip coverage that the airline offered (I happened to be using Delta) and also called Allianz with questions. I elected to also buy the airlines travel insurance which does covers the entire vacation - from flight start to flight end - vs. stopping with the cruise - in addition to the RCL offered travel coverage. Allianz said to be very sure the plan I selected included trip interruption, not just trip cancellation, and they explained their handling with regard to a positive covid test preventing re-entry to the US. I felt much better with this decision. I did the trick of doing the eMed proctored test the day we got into Vancouver - while I was still on the boat..... myself, and my travelling party all tested negative - so we didn't have to deal with it - but I felt much better after researching thoroughly. There certainly were several ppl caught by a positive test and no clue what to do next!
  13. Radiance is the one that broke it. They may not want them back. it was a pretty significant accident and that berth is expected to be out of service for weeks to months for repairs.
  14. Just got off yesterday. Just the Lavazza in the Grand Suite. No kettle. But you can use the Lavazza to create hot water. Just grab a cup to use.
  15. Hi! Here is a screen shot from the app showing you casino times. I’m on that sailing now. Seward to Vancouver. Not open in port. But every day after leaving.
