  1. It might be a glitch in the system. Or maybe you are trying to check in too early - are you Platinum or Diamond? If so, you should be able to check in 2 days earlier than others. If not you may be trying to check in too early. Also - try another browser. I know Safari doesn't work for checkin for me - I have to use google chrome on my computer. Good luck!
  2. Can't believe how big your daughter has gotten! Looking forward to your review.
  3. Have done both itineraries many times. ABC all the way!
  4. Have a wonderful cruise. Looking forward to reading your take on the TA.
  5. It is hard enough finding a table to eat at on Lido a lot of times. Having a large group monopolizing a table for 90 minutes is just rude, imo.
  6. If you want to check your luggage - as per CCL - you have to do it 2 hours before your posted departure time - so 2 p.m. Otherwise you will have to carry your own luggage on the ship. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2621/~/embarkation-and-departure I would suggest getting on earlier so you can do muster, enjoy lunch, and explore the ship. Arrival time back in Miami is early - we have been in as early as 5 a.m., but I would say 6 a.m. is more like it. They have started calling self-debark at around 7ish, with checked luggage around 8 -8:30. Again - this is all dependent on weather, medical emergencies, customs clearance for the ship, etc. All unpredictable.
  7. Same here. Many of the CD's I spoke with are very content with the "smaller" ships - Conquest class, Spirit class, Fantasy Class. Personally I do not ever take a cruise based on who the CD is, though I am sure people do that - especially if Mr. Heald is on the ship. Many times I do not even know who the CD is until I walk on the ship - and even then I do not know until they begin making announcement.
  8. Prayers out to the injured, and condolences to the family who lost a loved one. We should be thankful for every minute we are here, as you never know what may happen.
  9. Thank you for coming back with an update. Glad it all finally worked out. So many OP's leave us hanging.....
  10. There is both a Walgreens and CVS across the street from the terminal. Hope B feels better.
  11. If you have not been to Amber Cove it is nice taking that long walk (or short bike jitney) to the port area and walking around a bit. They have some stores, a pharmacy, a restaurant, and it is fun to watch the zip-liners flying overhead. The pool is also nice, with a dj and some dances/games - kinda like Margaritaville. We get off for an hour or so, then back on the ship to enjoy the quiet and get to do things when things aren't crowded.
  12. Of the 3 ships you mentioned Horizon is the newest and largest ship. Not my favorite due to its size, though it has features the others don't have. (Havana area which we were in, some food differences, sky ride, etc.). We have been to Ochos Rios many times. If you have never done Dunns River that is probably a must-do. Do not go "wandering" outside port area by yourselves - not too safe. Haven't been to Montego Bay in years, so can't really help you with that port.
  13. This sandwich is one of my favorite things on any ship!
  14. You don't need to carry your boarding pass around to get a drink, etc. when you first board. Just give them your cabin #. They input it, your picture pops up on their screen, and you are good to go.
  15. That elevator was out of order when we sailed in January!
  16. Expedited took 2 weeks to get back.
  17. I went to the dollar store and bought "Happy 40th Anniversary" signs and decorations and decorated the cabin when dh went out "on an errand" for me - lol. You can have your kids do it since they are coming while you take your wife somewhere else on the ship. Get decorations for the cabin door also. Or you order decorations from Carnival and the cabin will be decorated when you get there - but they have really upped their price.
  18. Great review! Love the Magic - going on her again (4th time) in January. One of my favorite ships. You have a great sense of humor. Sorry your wife got ill. I can get it - my dd throws up at least 1x every cruise due to the food disagreeing with her- lol! We have not done digital debark yet, but looking forward to less back-up on the ramps getting off Magic and down the escalator to the terminal. We also debarked at a different terminal than we embarked at - seems this happens often to Magic passengers. A lot of people were bent out of shape when getting that letter the night before, but everyone managed to get where they were going. Jake was our CD also - very pleasant guy, and Mambo was leaving the next day as her vacay/contract was up. Glad she came back - she was really funny, and "on the edge" with some of her comments - loved it!
  19. Mine are also still showing. Try all the above suggestions, including logging out and in again. Or look for a specific sailing and do a "mock" booking. Sometimes offers show up then. (I always have multiple offers pop up when it comes to picking a cabin location.)
  20. We have done Jack Harter helicopter 2x now - once 40 years ago on our honeymoon (they did not do doors off flights then - Jack Harter himself was our pilot) and the again when we took our adult children to Hawaii for our 35th anniversary. (Jack runs the company but doesn't do tours himself anymore). On that flight we did the doors off experience, which was amazing. Can't recommend JH Helicopters enough.
  21. Happy to hear Grandma is ahead of schedule, and that you have such a great family that is stepping up so you can "do your thing!"
  22. For us it usually turns up around 3 days after cruise ends.
  23. My dd had severe abdominal pains one cruise. The ship's infirmary did tests and felt it was her appendix, and she (and I) were off-loaded to Belize where she was admitted to a medical facility. The port agent (which truthfully I never knew existed - even after over 40 cruises) took care of transporting us to the facility, checked us in, and then went back to the ship where my dh was with my special needs dd. The port agent packed a small suitcase, got our passports, etc. and brought it to the hospital and made sure all was well before she left us. And yes - our travel insurance then kicked in and picked up all expenses. Luckily it turned out to be some kind of infection that mimicked appendicitis, and 3 days later we were permitted to leave Belize. (the hospital actually took our passports and would not return them until dd was medically cleared to travel.). Our insurance paid for all expenses, including the flight back to the U.S., our hotel stay as we waited for dh and dd to return from the cruise, and all food expenses.
  24. So glad Norfolk was welcoming to Carnival during a bad situation. Happy the next cruise is going off.
