  1. Thanks for the heads up, Lenda. We'll be watching for it. We've had a couple of really good sightings before from our house. It's pretty darn thrilling to see in the night sky. It's clear today, so looking forward to it!
  2. Good morning Dailyites. @JazzyVVanessa, thank you very much for putting Coco on the care list. She can be taken off now. We had a nice Face Time with her this morning. Her spirits are good and spots are fading. @RMLincoln Maureen, we had a mountain home in Idaho with a hot tub situated similarly to yours. Gosh how we loved sipping wine, looking at light over our little lake, watching birds, chipmunks, an occasional fox. Oh, how we do miss that hot tub. It was nice to read about yours. @ger_77 Gerry, you and Maurice are in our prayers that the board makes the right decision. @summer slope Dixie, I hope your pain settles down. Take it easy! @kazuJacqui, I'm sorry to hear about all the stress as your cruise date is approaching. Sure do hope you find someone kind to keep Ivan. As we bond with our pets, it's really hard to cause them distress. Hopefully things will fall into place in a good way. @dfish Debbie, seeing Radish Salad with Carrots as the meal suggestion immediately made me think of my mother. She used to mix finely chopped radishes, carrots, a bit of green onion, and a dab of mayo into cottage cheese. That with toast was often a lunch. I still like it. What a charming lady Audrey Hepburn was. Nice to see a quote from her. We've been to a couple of places in Croatia, but not Zadar. I've been kind of homebound because we have contractors here redoing a deck. They are supposed to be done today. Fingers crossed. Rain has held them up. Thinking of all of you on this Holy Thursday. Thank you for this special sharing place. Maxine
  3. Gosh that sounds painful. Ouch! Thank goodness all the tests were negative -- you could have been very seriously injured! Wishing you comfort and rapid healing.
  4. Good morning everyone. Thank you, @JazzyVVanessa for putting our Coco on the care list. There was quite a scramble last night to find her antibiotic. I'd read there is a shortage of the common childhood antibiotics. They did find some in the county last night, so hopefully she is on her way to healing. Also, Vanessa, it was darling seeing your photo yesterday with Dr. Spock! We visited Falmouth in the spring of 2013 on a Princess transatlantic. We took a tour out into the countryside and what I remember most is the River Fowey and seeing a house there that is said to be the inspiration for Toad Hall in Wind in the Willows. We were blessed with gorgeous sunny weather and the day was a very special one. I don't scribble, do like whiskey, and admire and support the Red Cross. They do amazing work. It's fun to see a tropical drink today as summer is coming. @dfish, I used to make a "Blender Hollandaise Sauce" that was pretty good. Haven't thought about that in years. Gosh that buffet looks amazing, Bruce. What a cruise you are having! That's a crack-up about the chocolate, Terry. Reminds me to head on over to See's. DD will be disappointed if the bunny doesn't deliver a chocolate egg. I clean like a whirling dervish when DH is gone, too. Glad I'm not the only one! Speaking of DH, his cardiologist ordered another echocardiogram to measure his heart aneurysm. The doctor says lots of people have them and often they don't get bigger. I think it's scary, though. It's close to the size where surgery is indicated. Sometimes I wish they'd just go in and fix it right away. It is invasive surgery, though. So we just follow doctor's orders. It's a nice sunny day here in San Diego. Many thanks to our Daily team and all contributors. Our care list will be in thoughts and prayers. Wishing everyone a safe and happy day.
  5. DD took little DGD Coco to the doctor. It's not chicken pox; it's scarlet fever. She was recently treated for strep throat and is still testing positive for it, so now it's into scarlet fever. They put her on a different antibiotic. I haven't heard of anyone having scarlet fever for years. It's upsetting.
  6. Good morning and thanks for our Fleet Report and Daily. It's hard to even post today with the sad news of the Maryland Bridge and as @smitty34877Terry mentioned, the death of the young police officer in New York. Very sad days lately. @kazu Jacqui, good day for your pictures of Maverick. Some heart-warming is most welcome. I hope your PT was helpful yesterday. At home here it's a mixed bag. On one hand, HAL did an excellent and timely job of moving six major Japan excursions over to new dates on our itinerary. I'm sure it was a mad scramble to get the tours set up and to move over everyone who had booked excursions -- many of us a very long time ago. Great job, HAL. On the other hand...DGD has spots all over that look like chicken pox, yet she's fully vaccinated. We're waiting to hear what the doctor has to say. Sure look like chicken pox to me. And DH has his cardiology appointment this morning. They are tracking the size of a heart aneurysm. It's always a worry. @Seasick SailorJoy, I'm sorry your DH didn't get a better report. Plenty to pray about these days, but plenty to be thankful for, too. I hope everyone here has a pleasant and peaceful day. Maxine
  7. Good morning friends. Happy birthday, @seagarsmoker. Bon Voyage to @lazey1 and @GTVCRUISER. There's a storm gathering here in San Diego. I hope they sail right on away from it into fair weather and fine seas. Sad day yesterday and more sad news today from @Seasick Sailor. Sure does remind how fragile life is and to cherish every day. Eleanor Roosevelt was an amazing woman, wasn't she? Her quote rings true. All the food and drink sounds good today -- even the chips & dip starter. Haven't been to Madagascar. Many thanks to the Daily team and all contributors. @JazzyVVanessa, I'm glad your doctor has a plan for you and will be praying hard that your situation improves. Have a great Saturday everyone!
  8. Graham, people all around the whole world will be praying for your beautiful Princess of Wales.
  9. I just returned from the hair salon and see the awful news here. Omg...what a sad day. The crew members! I can't even...
  10. Then there's the issue of health. How soon they forget. So many people onboard in tight quarters should there be another outbreak of something. Aren't I a ray of sunshine?! lol
  11. Greetings friends. I've been busy this morning working on cruise details. Triple staterooms all changed to doubles! 🤷‍♀️ DD dropped off Tails again, her Pomeranian, for us to care for while they are on a short vacation. Our Pocket does get jealous. They maneuver who gets to sit closest to me on the sofa, and Pocket has figured out how to move both beds so he can be a greedy boy and lay across both at the same time. The collection of days is interesting. Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is the one I like best. Kids around and a good pot roast. Yes, please. I'm sorry so many here are experiencing challenging health problems. Wish there were better answers, easier fixes. Many thanks to our Fleet Report and Daily team. Wishing everyone a pleasant Thursday. Maxine
  12. From observation, more than you would expect. Many adults — not just added children. And it does create crowded public areas, because people doing triple or quad obviously don’t want to spend a lot of time in the cabin. There is a big promotion going on — probably why the PCCs have their orders. 378 cruises — 133 of them 17 days or longer.
  13. We've been letting itinerary changes bounce off of us -- which seem to be much more frequent lately. Pretty frustrating that the one thing we thought we might be able to count on -- our choice of accommodation -- is also moving toward, "You pays yer money; you takes yer chances." Somebody mentioned the possibility of being upgraded if you're moved. Lots of us are familiar with the deck plans, and one man's upgrade is another man's "Nope." And who wants to be upgraded on a jam-packed ship anyhow? This is just very bad news. Worse the more I think about it. The poor overworked crew.
  14. I went back and looked at our bookings. Most are in triples. We are booked on the 35-day South Pacific in 2026. That one is a triple. I can't imagine booking this early, paying the current high cruise prices, and then being moved to HAL's choice. Lots to think about.
  15. Yes, you're definitely right about the quads. That has always been the case with those. But I have to believe that the strategy is more aggressive than just that, if so many PCCs are talking about it. Whatever. As for us -- we'll have our eye on the marketing campaigns.
  16. This really is interesting. Practically every cabin is a triple because there's a sofa that can convert. The room is really designed for two, but it's sorta, "Knock yourself out if you want to jam another person in there." I guess my big concern -- more than finding an available cabin -- is that along with this will come all the special deals for 3rd and 4th guests in the stateroom. We've experienced that on some summer cruises, and the ships feel really crowded. Not pleasant. If that's to become the norm all the time, we'll probably rethink how we travel.
  17. Good morning. Leisurely good morning here. I'm happy for Day of Happiness because my hair stylist called to reschedule my appointment. Just didn't feel like it this morning. I'm another Libra. Quite a few of us here. I think my Pocket might need a Yellow Vest. I've never heard of that before. He barks at all the dogs -- even those much larger than his 7 lbs. Anything from Benjamin Franklin is usually spot on. All in all, very nice collection of days. Yesterday while looking at bathroom showrooms, we saw the cutest doggie care room. It was about the size of a laundry room and had a tiled shower, shelves for supplies. Absolutely darling! Prayers are with all those having difficulties. Today especially @kazu Jacqui and she awaits test results and for @bennybear Brenda's DS as he defends his Masters today. I think I'll spend the day putting out some Easter stuff. I'm designated to have the holiday dinner here, and move slowly, so will start thinking about that. There will be eight adults and four children under five years old. Hectic. Have a great day everyone! 🌷 🌷 🌷 Maxine
  18. if your spouse’s SS benefit is greater than yours, better talk to someone expert about what happens if you start your own benefits early. I think there are workarounds, but you could be locked into your lower benefit and be unable to step up to the higher amount, should your spouse die before you. (This is fresh in my mind, because this is my Full Retirement year, 66 1/2. DH gets much more than me, so I waited to Full Retirement, just to be cautious about it.) Rules change all the time, but that’s been the general rule. Of course, Disability is entirely different. Wishing you all the best sorting through this, and if I repeated what somebody else already said, I apologize for that. I just felt it to be important.
  19. Good morning all. We have been busy with estimators for the remodeling of our two bathrooms. We're going with the company I really like who also did our kitchen some years ago. So today it's off to the showrooms to get design ideas. That's the fun part. We all read to the four grandchildren. They all love their books. So hats off to Read to Me Day. And to all the wonderful nurses. I've never met one I didn't admire. Our DSIL practices international business law, so with him in mind, I'll also tip the hat to his clients. Chicken Cacciatore has wonderful flavor. Even sounds good with polenta. Those Long Island Iced Teas were a favorite in college. I was tougher back then. Would love to go to Sri Lanka -- expect we will someday. Oscar Wilde...I don't want to be stabbed anywhere. @grapau27, Graham, your latest update on Sarah's mom actually made my stomach feel icky. Keep Sarah close. This has to really affect her physically. It would anyone. What a sad, sad situation. @lazey1 Jane, don't overlook the baked potatoes at lunch. The salad with oil & vinegar you mentioned works really well for low-salt. Sometimes that chopped up potato gives the meal a bit more substance. (They may salt the skin, not sure.) Many thanks to our FR&D Team -- and to all who contribute. Wishing everyone a great day -- even those who just stop by to visit, but never post. ❤️
  20. @Sharon in AZ, I’ll add to @bennybear’s great advice. Your story about the heavy walker really hit home. Like you, I was very close with my mom — probably “the favorite.” When it came to her end of life care I, like you, had physical limitations on how much I could do. It was essential that I set my own boundaries. That created conflict, and we weren’t as close in the end as we had always been. Mom was just too unrealistic by that stage to understand limitations. it was a sad end of days for us. Hopefully will go smoother for you. As they say, the best you can do is all you can do. Like @bennybearsaid, go with the flow. There’s really no way to make the situation perfect. Now I never even think about this difficult period when thinking of my mom. I just remember all the good stuff, when she was her true self. Hang in there, Sharon.
  21. Ha ha! There it is...Act Happy Day! We managed to through all of Covid! đź’Ş
  22. Well, that's right, kazu. It sure is a tradition of vessels, from a showboat on the Mississippi and on to the big ships, that everyone pitches in because of the space constraints. People forget that sometimes. (Although I'm not questioning that cutbacks are taking place. They always are messing with this or that -- seeing what they can get away with. Business as usual.)
  23. Happy 4th Anniversary to the Daily! 🥂 Bon Voyage to @Suslor @RedneckBob and @Crazy For Cats And woohoo on @Nickelpenny's Very Memorable Cruise! Wishing everyone a wonderful day.
  24. We like the new tea service with the stands a lot better than the old way where the waiters came around with trays offering goodies. It was distracting waiting around for the trays. And the baked goods seem to be better than before as well. We observed that many people request the number of stands they want for their party size and the waiters happily oblige. The trick is to ask right away so you're all squared away to enjoy your tea experience. I really enjoy the tea time now, whereas before I seriously did not. Have a good time @happytotravel!
