  1. Happy that you had a beautiful and happy day in my wonderful town. Watched you sail in from our condo. Gorgeous ship!
  2. Roscoe's looks are one of a kind and uncopiable. (Is that a word?)
  3. Hello, old friend. Will you please give us your start date so I can know when to begin reading your blog? Happy you will be back on our wonderful QV. Aloha, Patti
  4. One thing that has changed. The Walmart that was in our downtown area on Fort and King Streets is now closed. There is a huge Long's Drugs at one end of the huge Ala Moana Shopping Center where you can buy most things other than clothes. Walmart is about a block or two away from that shopping center.
  5. Excited to start reading your posts again. I always enjoyed all of them. Being a long time Cunard voyager all the way back to the grand old QE2, I love impressions and hearing all about what is happening on the 3 beauties. Hope you feel great so you can enjoy PG. Aloha from Hawaii
  6. There are photos of it in our Honolulu newspaper frequently and it's a joy to see green life. So much care and respect is being given to it. ~ Tomorrow owners / renters of property on certain streets in Lahaina will be allowed to go to their former places to see what it looks like. They are requited to wear full, head to toe outfits over their regular clothes and face because there is so much toxic dust, air, dirt, etc. all over. Wear it once and it gets thrown away. People can spend as much time as they want. In future days people who lived on different streets get to go inspect their places. There is very little left anywhere. 60 mile an hour winds blew the fire through the whole town very rapidly. A charming old town by the sea, Hawaii's very first capital, turned to ashes.
  7. Thank you for all the time that you put into such detailed, informative and fun posts. I've been a fan for years and look forward to your next adventure. As a passenger on many Cunard Line world cruises I really enjoy reading about the excellent voyages of Holland America and your personal thoughts about your world cruises. Aloha from Hawaii
  8. Enjoyed every post and appreciate the time you took to post all of them. It was a wonderful journey! Aloha from Hawaii
  9. facebook.com/DianeandJohn St John Spaces between John and St and St and John No period after St His last post was from Maputo on March 8th.
  10. If you decide not to take a tour you will find that the ship is docked very close to the the main part of the wonderful, small town. You walk along a waterfront path, a statue of Samuel Cunard will be along the way, you'll will hear bagpipers if you are lucky and, after about 15-20 minutes, you will see the excellent Maritime Museum almost in front of you. As well as artifacts from the Titanic, there is a fascinating display about the Halifax Harbor explosion. In the early 1900s a ship was leaving the harbor and another with a large amount of petrochemicals entered and collided with the one leaving. It set off an enormous blast like a huge bomb and killed 1700 people, injured 9000 and destroyed rail yards, communication, the harbor and large areas all over the city and the outskirts. People head to this museum for the Titanic but this is an excellent display of part of Halifax's early history. There are casual and very good restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating along the waterfront walk or in town. Think excellent lobster rolls. The Citadel and Public Gardens are an easy walk. Aloha, Patti
  11. Happy to have her update what has happened since we last heard from her. Thinking only good thoughts.
  12. I just read it too and asked Kathi to let us know how things are going when she is home if she has time and it's not invading her privacy. Just hope the flight home isn't too painful!
  13. I am hoping that host Hattie or someone can figure out why, when I click on "Boards," I am immediately taken to a page that says "TEST PAGE" followed by "This test page is used to test the proper operation of Apache." Lots more on the page. No scroll bar and no way to delete the test page. I have to get into the Cunard board via Google. Anyone else having this problem?
  14. I have been clicking on your blog in my "favorites" but I just tried typing the 2 into the URL as you suggested and it worked. Genius! Thank you!
  15. Your blog doesn't update for me. The last post I have is about Aqaba. I have to go to "Blog Archives and then click on November, 2022" and then I can read the current happenings. Any ideas? Love reading all of this just like I did when you first sailed on Cunard and all the adventures since then. ~ Aloha from Hawaii
  16. How do we know when the next two Cunard cruises will be? Keep checking on Cruise Critic and your website? Or, can you give dates now?
  17. We took 4 world cruises on the QE and QV and loved the ships, the people and the places. Just made it home after the last one and my husband passed away from a stroke. I'm so grateful for all that we saw and did. Don't put off your dreams if you are able to do them now.
  18. That is hilarious after all these years. I still have a photo of the ladies in cobalt blue. Here's to the wonderful old QE2.
  19. A joy to have Roy back and posting such positive daily reviews from one of my favorite ships, despite the lady complainer. Maybe she read his posts and ate in the Lido or changed tables. Hope you be writing from another voyage soon!! Aloha from Hawaii.
  20. Why was check-in a nightmare? Have read several reports about the difficulties and wasted time doing that.
  21. We took our family on this same cruise a few years ago and loved it. In Boston, on the 4th of July, the top deck of the QM2 was filled with people at midnight when a wonderful recording of the Boston Pops playing the 1812 Overture was played and we could easily see the fabulous fireworks. Spectacular memory. ~ Enjoy!!
  22. Haven't been able to find saltines in Honolulu for quite a while now!!!
  23. We were on there too for the WC. Always love the Queen Victoria!
