  1. This thread was brought forward by a company and removed likely because it was not suitable ."

However since I was subscribed to it I got a chance to read my last post.

The info I said is correct does not apply to the Location of CANADA place. But the airport.

Sorry if that caused any confusion..usually somebody will correct my blunders on transportation...

  2. I doubt there is an easy way to get to the Security without bumping into the off pax other than Being dropped into the Cruise level by someone or even taxi. Those of us that park of course just come UP an elevator right inside the Security hall.

SO you could take an elevator from inside the hotel that goes directly to the Cruise level which would put you onto the same level as the ramp which is mentioned in post above but that wouldn't help all that much.

OR you could take that elevator down more.... to parking below the cruise level and then walk to the middle elevator in the parking garage and take it UP to the cruise level. It's the same distance to walk

If you get on the right elevator it takes you to the Security Hall of the cruise level. (middle elevator only). You then would have to take your bags just outside the hall to whichever Line of Handlers are loading your ship.

Either way you have to drop your baggage to the correct ship's area.

I looked on line for physical map but can not locate one for the Canada place inside elevators sorry.

Street level elevator from the hotel is on the right hand wall of the main entrance do not take escalators up. Ask bellmen or the nice ladies at the info desk for directions to the parking elevator.

    Good luck

  3. Names may be forgotten but if you have cruised with a good CD or a great CD you can sure tell the difference when you cruise with one that is not up to the job. Organizing behind the scenes all those many things you never really think of...taking the lead during small and sometimes unfortunately major incidents are when you will really appreciate a CD for his or her abilities.

If you don't notice them or if you notice them doing what you think is a good job ..that is a good thing.

  4. We agree with those who love the location of the SS on the Sports deck, particularly the first few. We had a family group in 1200 (accessible), 1204 and 1206, and it was perfect. We did occasionally get noise from partying kids above, but it didn't interfere with sleep or enjoyment.

I wanted to warn you to avoid cabins 1202 and 1203. They are smaller than the others, and have smaller balconies. The curve of the hallway is such that cabins 1200/1201 and 1202/1203 are less deep than the others in that class/deck. 1200/1201 more than make up for it because they are accessible,

If those are the only sports deck SS's available, I'd think twice.

    Confirm this

Is there a difference in the size of verandas? We have 1209 on a Pacific Coastal cruise in April, and CANNOT wait until we see the veranda...we are early risers, so the joggers won't bother us!

See comment above. All are the same except for those. There is a slight age difference in the suites aft of the elevators. They were added after the big refurbish but that's years ago too.

We have spent several weeks aboard on deck 12 in a sweet and in inside cabins and several of those include AK great location and the balconies up there are huge.

I would recommend them even more on a warm weather cruise for getting out in the sunshine....

  5. M Class Dcck 2 the two rooms aft of the midship elevators 2135/39 Never been in the starboard ones but they should be ok also. Quiet and elevator always there. Same on all M class ?

Century Deck 12 Just forward of the aft elevator banks 1227 is the best the others fwd on that floor are OK too. But 1227 runs sideways with the ship. These rooms were a lot better location on the other C class ships cause you could still get right outside at the elevator bank but not on the Century anymore.

  6. Happy New year to everybody also.

That SFPR (#17) is one of the best pieces of road added to our System (?) since I don't know when. :) Maybe the Coq ?

Traveling to Border Xings, Twz Ferry, and of course my fav. Point Roberts is a breeze. Scot says 30 mins. Well from out here we were thinking it was closer to an hour well it seemed like it anyways. Nice scenic drive as Scot says along the river and some hidden gems in the cranberry bogs.

    Kudos to the BC Govt.

  7. Transit in Vancouver is about the only place you will "NEED" Canadian cash.

That being said it is true that you will get Canadian change back from any transaction. It's the cost of doing business with foreign money.

JUst about everyone will take you credit card and would be my choice if my card company had a decent exchange rate built in.

  8. Math during Christmas Season is not required :D

I thought we "Oldies" were just going to drop down to half price ? Please tell me I'm not wrong. I might have to go back to hiding in the washrooms for the return B on a B&B over to Sidney and back for our summer cruise. May not be able to afford the Buffet either. :p

Hope everyone had a Great Christmas and...... best wishes for the New Year too.

  9. Wondering if any of you folks that were on the new deck could compare ship movement there to other decks you may have sailed in a M class.

If so what kind of water did you travel on. Found deck 12 on the Century affected us for some reason although their suites up there just a grand location which I would think deck 11 on the M class would be similar.

Is there a difference between the two classes other than size. Been as high as 9 on the Infinity but that was almost midship.

  10. The proper way for X to make changes to the system, in my opinion, would have been to announce it well in advance to take effect in say six months. They would have avoided a lot of bad feelings and negative publicity. Apparently, cutting costs by reducing benefits to improve their bottom line was more important.

Of course it is. It's a great publicly traded company that has done very well for its stock holders in the last 5 yr compared to most stocks.

But I do agree more than a few times they act before thinking out the whole issue. But you can NEVER please everyone. Most of us are so far from Zenith that we will never make it but surprisingly there are those already there and some well past it who post in this forum...and I suspect they must be pretty happy with the overall "System"

  11. I declare 4 and the CBSA agent assumes that 2 are for her and we only bring back the exemption allowed. I've heard stories from friends that they "do declare" more and that they've been let through but but I don't drink enough to risk the hassle.

I only bring back California reds that cost near $20 that sell in Vancouver for $45-$55cdn.

I never buy wine on trips less than 48 hours but have heard from many that they do.

I've got a Nexus pass and won't jeopardize losing it. No long waits at the land borders or YVR for me & it's also handy when we switch planes back east when coming home from Florida cruises.

    LOL

    I agree

We have some good Ontario wines so just stick with those

Think we should tell folks that we finally can transport wine (legally) between Provinces now ! lol

I did learn that when crossing by vehicle in nexus (or regular) and you have that surprise gift of wine for you Pax for xmas that you need not lie/or fudge your verbal declaration (even though you are within your legal amounts) Just pass the agent a note.

BTW I think BC wine is better. :p

To the OP/ It shoud be no problem to bring a couple of your local bottles well packed in your luggage. Most airlines have a 5 liter limit. But you should also know your cruise line policy.

  12. I generally have enjoyed the brunch and favour it way over the so called midnight buffets that proceeded it.

Most that I have taken part in we had no problems with crowding however several seemed to reflect the habits of certain ethnic groups and were kinda like the feeding trough experience as described. Timing is the key but when that is depends on the pax of the day. No rhyme or reason.

Regarding the chocolate . The very first buffet we went to was on the Solstice early in its career. It was St Patricks day and the chocolate was pale green. Just something terribly wrong with that. :D. But I guess it tasted ok still.

  13. Maybe just the letter says 880 points and My Celebrity/Captain's Club/Sailing History shows the correct value. It may be recorded properly in Celebrity's system regardless of what the letter or Sailing History shows. Has anyone ever received a letter from Celebrity where the letter is addressed to "Dear Jane" but your name isn't Jane or welcoming you back from an Alaska cruise when you haven't been on an Alaska cruise. Just because your letter says that, it doesn't mean you have been renamed "Jane" and your nonexistent trip to "Alaska" has become a reality!

As WALKER1313 pointed out, 880 isn't even a valid converted number; without any bonus points that may have been mis-applied, a potential conversion program bug, or human-entry error. If the points are incorrect in Celebrity's system, it is conceivable there possibly could have been a conversion-program or human-entry bug/error in applying points programmatically or manually (e.g., mis-applying bonus or cached points from previous converted member) or even incorrectly producing the letter content.

    Kathy

My middle name just became ANNE on all my recent correspondence from X. I just checked however and I'm still a dude. :D

  14. Thanks for your reply, we do not need a hotel near the ship ship. We are flying into SanDiego for a couple of days and then we are taking a cruise out of LosAngeles so we have to get from SanDiego to LA somehow. Any suggestions? Any other hotel recommendations?

If you have never been there...get to the Coronado Hotel just to explore and out to the Cabrillo National Monument for the view
